Feb 18, 2009I would like to redirect a external IP to a internal IP, all done with Apache. Is that possible.

View 4 RepliesOn my Server I have an application running. I have the External IP address of the Server registered in DNS so users requiring access from outside the office can enter a full URL rather then an IP address.
How to I change my Apache config so that all traffic that comes into the server from the URL is put over https?
I've created a virtual host and when I try to access it it displays the root of the Default Server. Running Fedora 11. This works fine in our Fedora 8, same configuration.
192.168.0.200
Default server is set to
Listen 80

I have two servers on my network One with ubuntu 9.10 server And one with openSUSE 11.2.The ubuntu server is my webserver and runs phpsysinfo and my website. On the openSuse server i have a webbased application and some files that i want people to be able to reach by using mydomain.com wich points to my ubuntu server. Is there any way to do this?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have several web servers running apache on my LAN. Each internal server hosts a number of domains.I would like to make these available to the internet and make sure they all get to use port 80 and 443.My idea was to put Apache on the firewall and have all http(s) traffic from the Internet to my firewall be redirected by Apache to the different internal apache servers. This, in theory, would allow me to keep the standard http(s) port.
Can this be done? I was thinking of mod_rewrite and mod_redirect but in all honesty, I'm a little at a loss on where to start. Can someone point me to relevant documentation or give me the basic idea on how to start?
I've set up Apache on my Fedora 12 machine and have got it working on my internal IP (localhost/192.168.0.15) however, when I try to access it through my external IP I am taken to my router login page.
What do I need to do to route my external IP to my internal static IP of 192.168.0.15?
I believe I finally have a very secure config for apache2 that will only use SSL or port443.
Problem is how do I redirect all my users who dont type in https:// to the proper SSL port 443?
Do I have to create Virtual Servers? If so how?
Or is there a Redirect command?

I have one external ip address and a few domains. Would it be possible to have each domain on a internal domain and the box that sits on that external ip route to the internal. This would be for a number of server (mail, apache, imap, pop3, https ) So for example:
Some visit domain1.com ->external ip -> 192.168.10.100 Someone else visit domain2.com ->external ip -> 192.168.10.101 and so one with a number of domains
we have a dual server setup: Windows server 2003 and Ubuntu 10.04 with apache installed with all the goodies. This is all virtualized. What I'm wanting to do, is make the new website we've created run on the Ubuntu machine, which it is, and be accessible outside the office. However, by doing this, we forfeit being able to use remote access or web exchange on Windows server 2003.
How can I create a link from the new website on Apache point to the internal server and it work outside of the office?
I'm not sure is this is possible or not, but what I would like to do is take my public address mydomain.com and configure a virtual host something.mydomain.com only instead of having the content on the same server I would like it to point to the IP of my virtual machine that is in my private network and display that page publicly. Does anyone know if this is possible, or how to do it? I have done this with port forwards, but would like them both to be on the same port.

A week ago I purchased an VPS. The first few days I was having trouble to set up an outgoing connection on the VPS. Eventually it turned out to be some misconfiguration of the server where the VPS is hosted on.Since then I have installed the apache server, but I'm still not able to access the apache server from an external computer. I already have contacted the provider, but they haven't replied yet. To speed things up I was hoping someone could check my configuration to be sure nothing is wrong with it.To be sure I posted all configuration and information that I think would be important. Please contact me if you need more information.

View 7 Replies View RelatedI am upgrading my server and I have a lot of sites. Since I cannot take my server down for a few days, maybe a week until I manage to migrate all the sites to the new machine, I figured I could migrate them one by one. After migrating one, I would somehow tunnel the requests of that name virtual host to my internal machine. When everything is migrated, I would then switch the machines, update ip's and stuff and everything will work just fine.
However I cannot seem to find a way to do this tunneling. is this at all possible? If not, what alternatives do I have?
I've been wondering lately about what would be the best approach to take concerning WiFi on my laptop (or laptops in general) ? Understand my question concerning this is ONLY about performance and no other issue.
What is the better thing to do:
a) install a new (better) WiFi card inside my laptop,
b) remove the card inside my laptop and use a WiFi USB stick,
c) remove the card inside my laptop and use a WiFi PCMCIA card?
Is simply being external to the laptop going to give me better performance in terms of locating and using a WiFi connection? On the laptop I'm currently using I know that merely rotating the laptop can boost the connection signal strenght by 15% or more. So, I'm really wondering about this. btw, I'm seriously giving thought to glueing a 3 or 4 inch lenght of 1/2 inch pvc pipe to the lid of my laptop as a holder for a homebrew parabolic WiFi dish. The idea is to attach the USB WiFi stick to a piece of coat hanger wire. Then slide the bottom and top of the coat hanger wire into a piece of paper (that's had aluminum foil glued to it) forming a parabola behind the WiFi stick. By rotating the parabola in the pvc holder I can instantly directionalize the reception/transmission of the Wifi USB stick. I'm wondering if anyone in the forum has experienced the difference between an internal vs an external WiFi device? Secondarily, has anyone in the forum tried the parabola trick?
I got a new hard drive 2TB for extending the storage. I am working on fedora15 and would like to format the disk as a linux partition and external hard drive. me how to format this disk and partitioning!
View 12 Replies View RelatedI found this really cool guide / info about creating an internet portal where users have to register (their MAC) with the server to use the internet. basically if users MAC's are in the list they get routed to the internet if not they get routed to an internal page asking them to register. It works great and works well. I was wondering if there are some smart people out there who could help me reverse the process.. eg if your mac is not in the list you can access the internet if it is, you are redirected to an internal page saying "youve been blocked"
The firewall rules are as follows.
Code: IPTABLES=/sbin/iptables
# Create internet chain
# This is used to authenticate users who have already signed up
$IPTABLES -N internet -t nat
# First send all traffic via newly created internet chain

I have an external hard drive with an xfs partition on it. It was using an external journal, but in re-installing Slackware I removed the partition holding the external journal, forgetting what it was at the time. I didn't touch the contents of the external hard drive, but now I can't mount it and the various xfs programs seem to demand that it be mounted in order for them to change anything.Anyone have any ideas on how to change an xfs partition from external log to internal? Failing that, how do I get the information off it?

I'm using Apache 2 on a Linux server and I was wondering if it was possible to redirect certain IP ranges to another page. I know it's possible to block an IP, but is there a way to block all IP's and only allow a certain IP range to connect, such as 5.87.xxx.xxx? I own this server, so if I need to use another OS, webserver, change configuration files, etc., that's fine.

The previous version of one of my websites was static and so the URLs looked like this: [url]
A few months ago I re-did the site to be completely dynamic. There are no individual pages for product reviews, just one which pulls the right data from a database. So now, my URLs look like this: [url]
Some fellow ex-googler who specialize in SEO told me that the previous URL scheme was better for search engines because it had the product name. Of course, I have set up redirects from the old naming scheme to the new one but what I would like to do is have 'review.php' handle the request for 'review_XXXX_YYYY.php' without actually doing a redirect... and do this for past and future products. I don't want to have to actually create all these 'review_XXXX_YYYY.php', there would be hundreds, just make it seem like they exist to visitors.
How to redirect one website to another website in apache.
For example: when i type www.example.com in my browser then it redirect to www.example.com/beta. so how i do in apache, i am using centos 5.
I want to give a 404 error when the index.html file is requested, i already know how to do this in php, but i cant seem to locate any information about how to do it in htaccess. I thought about just redirecting index.html to a page that dose not exist, but i would like to do it correctly from the start.

I have httpd server installed and I need to do redirect all the requests from clients thats start with a http://abc.*.* on to [url]. I know this has to be done with Rewrite conditions but Im at a loss coming up with the right condition. this site doesnt have any virtual hosts configured. Currenlty I only can access the apache test page.

I have tried the following

The problem is i have many other contexts.

So if you go to [url] you get re-directed to context1. Which is not what I want. Basically I am asking how can I set the default context on the server to context1 if you do not type it?
I have a URL that I'm trying to redirect back to the homepage on my site. For some reason since it contains hex I can't seem to get it to work.
A sample source URL is:

The destination URL is:

I've tried many different things to no avail.

Redirecting source URLs with REG_LOGINfromURL will get me what I need. Some of my examples work when the source URL does not contain enconded characters, so if the URL was instead [url] it would redirect.
I'm running RHEL 4 and Apache/2.0.52.
