I have problem with our fedora 8. We have two different domains. So i want to point these two domains to my fedora system but should not go to the same document folder.ecause these are different websites. I tried maximum but i didnt get correct solution.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI am trying to mount /NFS as nfs mountpoint on two servers ( A & B ) having OS OEL 5. After mounting the nfs filesystem, both of them behave normally for around 10 mins and after that the NFS file handle become stale and the mountpoints dont respond. While executing df -kh, the output hang out and the /var/log/messages show the following message:
May 27 15:48:56 earth mountd[3078]: Cannot export /NFS, possibly unsupported filesystem or fsid= required

The fstab entries for /NFS mountpoint on both servers is :

I am thinking of getting a domain name or ten I do not know were to point the domain to?
and what do I need to setup if a user wants a domain name to point to his account on the server? ok more like I want to have a few domains pointing to my user accounts I have setup on the server..can I do this directly or do I need a server domain first before users can get a domain name?
I have a basic setup user web space and ftp and mysql setup

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have just been gifted with a Linux dedicated server for the next six months, with an option to renew after that time has expired, and I'd like to set it up for FTP/P2P use. I do have some familiarity with Fedora from work, but only as a pre-installed desktop OS. The company providing the server has asked me to choose a OS, so of course I picked the one with which I already have some knowledge. They've also asked me to provide partition and mount point information, and it's here that I'm having some problems. I've spent most of my free time today reading everything I could about partitioning for a server, and I'm still not comfortable making this decision on my own.
The server comes with two drives - one 500GB and one 1TB, and 8GB RAM. My thinking is to use the 500GB drive for the OS, and the 1TB for media storage. I know I still have a good bit of learning to do, but I just want to get the blasted thing set up so I can get on with the hands-on part of figuring out how it works.
i have registered two domain names that i want to use to connect to my ubuntu server. I was wondering how to do this i was looking at bind9 but that didn't work that great. The server is behind a router with firewall i can connect to it using the external IP address but i like to use the two domain names if that is possible.

Problem is my ISP will not let me have a static IP unless I upgrade to a Business class service which is just too expensive for home use. As a work around I use a DDNS service from Dlink, which is actually done via DYNDNS.com. So essentially I have mydomain.dlinkddns.com point to my Dynamic WAN IP, and it is all automatically managed by my router.
Is there a way I can haveoint to my mail server without it being a subdomain of my DDNS om)? In other words I would like to have the email someone@mymaildomain.com and not have it be dlinkddns.com or something like that. I know someone has done it, I just have never done it. Not quite sure what to google to find the answer myself either.

I have a red hat system that I currently have two websites hosted on. Im trying to set up a third domainname but every time I touch the files (httpd.conf, hosts, ddclient.conf, VirtualHosts,etc) it resolves to the primary domain name. The third domain keeps pulling up my first domain instead of resolving to its domain name. Any Ideas? I go through DynDns with custom domains. The first two have been working for years, but whenever I try to set up the third one exactly like the other two using the thirds info, it will not resolve to that third domain?????

All websites are set up with "VirtualHost" and they all work properly.The problem I'm having is that if I enter any subdomain of the main domain, I can still reach the webpage.Is there some way of telling apache to DROP / display a forbidden message for all subdomains which are not listed in the VirtualHosts?

then i registered a domain name (lets call it "blah.com") through namescheap.com and have registered my nameserver to my ip address. after reconfiguring the my external zones in bind and restarted my services, i am unable to reach my webpages through the new domain name.. www.blah.com and blah.com would lead me to a opendns.com page but interestingly ns1.blah.com loads my webpages successfully.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI installed Postfix, Roundcube (webmail) and Dovecot. Postfix stores the e-mails in maildirs located at /home/postfix/maildir/[user]@[domain]. Now I set the mail_location configuration option in Dovecot to: mail_location = maildir:/home/postfix/maildir/%u@%d The problem I run into is logging in with [user]@[domain]. Right now I can only login with [user] (without @[domain]), which makes the mail_location invalid (no e-mails can be found). How could I configure dovecot to use the domain name as well as part of the username?

The company desided to create a corporate Website on a remote hosting and desided that the site's domain should be company.net which is same as local network's domain name. So now it is not possible to reach that corporate website from within the company's local network because, as I guess, bind9 which is installed on above menioned PDC looks for company.net on a local webserver. Is there a possibility to let people from this local network browse the remote site?

Im rather concious of the fact that if for any reason the Server2k3 server was to die there is no backup of active directory, or anything that can take its place whilst a replacement is found.
So is it possible to use a fedora machine with samba as a secondary domain controller? so it can be used as a login server, and has a copy of AD.
How can I create a system restore point in Ubuntu, and when I do so am I able to restore to a point before installing Ubuntu?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have an Ubuntu server running Samba and I would like to share out the cdrom drive to the network. I made a share of the /media directory and it seems to work fine when I insert USB drives and I am able to browse and work with files. However, when I insert a cdrom it automatically mounts to /media/<volume name> and I get a permission denied error when I attempt to access it over the network. I am assuming this is happening because the permissions do not include the execute bit and being a read only file system I can not change this. I made the directory /media/cdrom and manually mounted the cdrom to it and I can successfully access it over the network just like the USB drives. So my question is: Is there a way to make the cdrom automatically mount and unmount to /media/cdrom when I insert and eject disks instead of to /media/<volume name>? Or maybe just have the permissions automatically set so Samba users can open it instead of just see it.
