Nov 7, 2010What is the fastest setup to do this? All I want is an internally authenticated webmail server that other servers can send mail to for collection of test emails. Don't need LDAP or anything fancy, just a internal LAN only webmail server. I've got Squirrelmail setup on Ubuntu Server and can't get authentication setup with Squirrelmail and every tutorial I read is way over complicated or has nothing on how to authenticate Squirrelmail with internal, system users.

Apr 11, 2010To configure webmail in linux5, I�ve followed below procedures:
-Squirrelmail-1.4.2.tar.gz and unzipped under the folder /var/www/html
-cd squirrelmail-1.4.2
-cd config
-within this directory, ./conf.pl
-From main menu, I did choose 2 for domain (i.e. arafapparels.com). This is my official domain
-Then save and exit
-For IMAP setting, I did choose D
-Selected uw and save, then exit
-Then from command line, I wrote chown �R apache.apache /var/www/html/data (I created folder data in the above path)
-I created a folder named as attach to keep attachment in /var/www/html i.e. /var/www/html/attach
-Then typed grep �R apache /var/www/html/attach
-Then typed chmod 730 /var/www/html/mail/attach (Here squirrelmail-1.4.2 directory has been moved to mail directory)
-Then from web browser/Internet explorer, I typed http://localhost/mail/
-Here Username & Password appears. Previously I have created username.
-But when put Username & Password, below error message displays
Error connecting to IMAP server: localhost
13: Permission denied
But I gave permission by chmod 777 /var/www/html/mail and by using 555 but no result.

Aug 19, 2009Been trying to setup SSH on the Linux box for a long time and still no success.
AIM: To be able to SSH from the internet.
I CAN ssh locally.
I CAN ssh on the LAN to the Linux box.
I have even changed distro from Ubuntu to Fedora.
Everytime I try to SSH from the internet I get connection timed out.... I have setup port forwarding correctly on my Netgear router, when a SSH request hits the router I can see it in the logs. I have port forward setup for FTP service to my windows 2003 box which all works fine, so port forward works and I know what im doing regards that.
"iptables -L" shows no policies in place, the GUI firewall is DISABLED.
Even tried service iptables stop
I have made no changes to sshd_config, its set to standard port 22. At this moment in time I dont care about firewalls/security just need to get this working as a inbound request comming in from the internet.
the hosts.allow file I have added 2 lines
ALL:ALL
sshd:ALL

Jul 25, 2010I'm trying to setup nagios, and I've looked at several guides but none of them seem to address my problem.Here's the clearest guide that I followed URl...I followed all the instructions on that basica guide, except disabling SELinux. I changed SELinux rules based on URL...I'm not getting any AVC Denials, so that's not the problem. Nagios and Apache both start fine. If I go to my local IP, I get the standard Apache test page. URl...(address from all the guides I read) doesn't resolve.I know that Nagios is at least running from "service nagios status," and I have gotten two alerts emailed to me: swap alert (I don't have swap configured) and disk space.

Mar 14, 2010I ended up setting up a basic linux file server as a pdc for that office. Our main office is a windows 2000 ads domain. The two offices are connected with a vpn. I only have two users at the new location so I simply have the linux and samba usernames/passwords setup manually. I would like to know if it is possible to setup a domain trust between the two sites so I don't have to create a username/password in the remote site for every user at the main office to access. I did some searching but came up empty.

I wouldn't call myself an expert but then again I am not a newbie too. However, I have never setup any RAID before and now I am forced to setup RAID1 on this server. So, in a way, I am a newbie in setting up RAID
Would someone please point me in the right direction as I have no idea what I am supposed to do to setup the RAID. FYI, I will be installing Fedora 10 64bit on this server. I would appreciate if you can start from the very beginning, ie. partitioning, formatting the harddrives during OS installation, etc..

Also, can I do this with one Ethernet port (IE: RJ-45 jack), or do you recommend a second ethernet port? I could add in another PCI ethernet card if it makes it easier. Jun 7, 2010I'm looking to set up a bit of a home server, and am wondering about storage. What I'd like is something like RAID 6, which has good redundancy built-in, but with this being a home server, I'd prefer to start a little smaller and leave room to build it up in future. I'd been looking at commercial products like the 'drobo', which seems fairly ideal, but I'd really like to see if I can do it myself. I understand that throwing the RAID into an LVM will allow for some expansion, but the last time I checked, most RAID setups called for the same sized disks, or at least limited the array by the size of the smallest disk present.
What I'd like is the ability to build a basic framework with a few cheap disks, and then as things start filling up, to be able to add larger ones (perhaps eventually pulling out smaller ones as though they'd failed and replacing them with big ones)
