For the life of me I cant remember what this bar is called, but if you right click, it allows you to close the window, minimize or maximize it, etc.
I like black themes, and right now everything but that bar is black.
Is there any way to change that bar from white to black?
I would like to set a theme for webpages only, with the default colors (you know, white for background, black for text, etc) how do i do it? or even better, is there a patch or something like that to install?
Edit: nevermind, solved, preferences > content > colors and unitck "use system colors"
Sometimes when I have two or more windows open, the window in the foreground will be white, or blank. This most notably happens when I have Firefox and LibreOffice open in the same desktop. The window in the background is clearly visible, and when I right click on the window in the foreground, a normal context menu comes up. This also sometimes happens when there is only one window on a desktop.
I have played on and off with ubuntu over the years, and am currently using 11.04 on an older HP with an Athlon 64 chip. You may consider my background knowledge of the system to be one step above nil. I'm happy to provide any system info you may want, but you'll likely have to tell me how to obtain it.
Using Ubuntu 10.10.Recently updated to kernel 2.6.38.Strange problem.. all windows display fine when they are not minimized. But as soon as I minimize ANY window, all the contents are wiped out. All I get is a title bar with white window. This happens with every window e.g. browser, games, system windows, text pad etc.I am using Nvidia drivers. Could that be the problem?

View 8 Replies View RelatedI am running SuperOS 10.10, which is based on Ubuntu 10.10. I am fairly new to gnome Ubuntu and never have dealt much with changing themes.I am using the Ambiance theme and like everything about it but the slide bar is white and hard to see. I like the fact that the close, minimize, maximize buttons are on the left side of the window. If I change the theme to clearlooks then the slide bar is blue and easy to see but the close, minimize, maximize buttons are on the right. I went into Ubunty Tweak, window manager settings when in the clearlooks theme and the close, minimize, maximize buttons are set to custom.
If I uncheck the custom button and click left then nothing happens. I would either like to change the color of the slide bar in ambiance theme or change the close, minimize, maximize buttons location in clearlooks theme. It is probably simple to do but I have been going in circles with no change. Can someone point me in the right direction? Nevermind, I will just switch to another distro. This question didn't generate a lot of traffic.
Is it possible to remove the window decoration from a single window, maybe in compiz or something?

I recently installed Linux Mint 8 (main) on my P.C.. When I select the main menu and activate the Terminal, all that comes up is a blank white window--The same thing happens when I try to run Software Manager or Synaptic. Could you please instruct me how to fix this

Some one had told me that it would be there on the following directory.
/usr/share/icons/balanzan/scalable/apps and select firefox.png.
But I couldn't find it there.
There was no balanzan folder inside icons. I could find scalable folder inside default.kde4 folder.

Recently I have installed Fedora 10. It comes with firefox 3.xx by default. Now I was wondering if there is any way through which i can update it to 3.5 version though yum. Ended up with "Namoroka" which seems to be Firefox 3.6, and it's a prerelease version.
Flash works under my admin id but not under normal user id. Reinstalling Flash didn't help. Want to revert to Firefox 2 that came with Ubuntu 8.04 so Flash will work again.
Can't uninstall "Namoroka" - uninstalled Firefox-3 but it's still hanging in there!

I installed ubuntu 10.10 alongside Win7 recently, absolutely new to this OS.
Experiencing problems with firefox browser. A plain White blank screen appears only with the titile bar named Firefox. Actually when the web-browser icon is clicked, just a cursor BAR appears stuck inside the extreme left end of the screen (cursor bar something like the one we find in word processors or this blinking line while I type this). I manually have to expand the bar in order to get the firefox browser, which is the plain white screen.
Initially had problems with the missing wireless firmware, reading through this forum I activated the Broadcom driver. But before that, I wired in my laptop to the router and then FIREFOX worked fine, after an update which installed bout 214 updates the firefox got conked.

i have xterminus installed. i also have a white block over the first letter in my username and when i begin typing, the 'block-type cursor' just leaves full white spaces behind and i cannot read my text at all. even when i delete back over the white spaces, they stay whited out.

View 6 Replies View RelatedI'd imagine I sound like a complete clown but I am completely new to ubunto and linux in general. Having "fiddled around with it" for a matter of weeks I am finding generally I am quite pleased and am taking my time sorting through the chaff. Talking of chaff I have a problem from downloading a program previously which turned out to be unnecessary. Avast, I have removed the program and associated files but for some reason an Icon remains in the applications box at the bottom, not in a grouped file. I have tried various terminal commands taken from forums etc but none of these appear to have done the trick. A simple right click doesnt give me a remove to waste basket option and the drag and drop to waste basket doesn't work either. Amongst terminal efforts force remove etc etc., don't have any affect and the lines about the avast file does not exist.
