I can't modify/delete the files on my phones through my computer which is connected to my phone through a USB wire. I can view the files in there, but not edit them or make any modifications. During the time I used Ubuntu, it worked pretty well, any ideas why it doesn't work.I use Fedora 11 KDE in case you wanted to help me solve this problem. I also have a Nokia 5800 XpressMusic if this is going to help too.
View 4 RepliesI have a liveusb running Fedora 11 on my hp laptop. I would like to use my T-Mobile Dash 3G unlimited data connection. I have seen many posts regarding wvdial, modem scripts, etc that are going a little over my head. I was able to connect my phone to the laptop, but when I tried to initiate internet sharing on the phone via Bluetooth PAN, nothing happened on the computer. I was connected but not able to do anything.
I saw some developer in a blog mention that he had put Bluetooth PAN support in Fedora 12. Is this not available in F11? Should I try moving to a F12 liveusb for this?
Has anybody had success getting a Tmobile 3G to work with F11?
I would rather use the USB connection so I could charge simulteously, but this looks a lot tricker.

Finally, disable and re-enable ufw to apply the changes:
sudo ufw disable && sudo ufw enable
I get the error:
ERROR: problem running ufw-init

How do I get Bitpim to work on my lg vu cu920 phone on Ubuntu 10.04? I have the data cable. I seen serval peoples said they got it to work but they never said how. I set the phone to the lg-vx8700. Sometime I get ports that will be open and then not. It doesn't mount under the mass storage. Would be awesome if someone on here could explain how they did it. Believe me I looked all over google and the forums and they all talk about they got it to work but no further details. Can't really bring up really old threads on here.

To escape the cable paradox, lately I came up with an idea to stream music from my mobile phone (LG GD880) via bluetooth to my SUSE box (which has it's audio output linked to my HIFI Sound system). This means pairing the devices and of course set the SUSE box as reciever. I found how to accomplish this here and here .
The problem: While trying to complete the above tutorial(s), I found that in /etc/bluetooth there is no ' audio.conf ' file, only ' main.conf '. If I insert the option: Enable=Source in main.conf, it has no effect what so ever. This means that org.bluez.AudioSource will not show up in D-Feet, thus I cannot take the next steps. What can I do? Is there another way to accomplish the audio streaming?
I have a Verizon Droid Eris, an Android phone that has not yet been rooted. Due to the lack of root capabilities the only way to tether my phone is through PDANet for Android. Unfortunately there is no Linux version of PDANet, so the only computer I can tether my phone with is my laptop which is running Vista.

View 9 Replies View RelatedI am currently developing an small program in Python and at a certain point, I need to do some "stuff" depending on the monitors that are connected to the computer. I have an intel vga card with two outputs. I want to do something if one of the screens connected to the output is a "Dell", another something if one of the monitors is a "Nec" and another something if both monitors are connected.
So the question is: Is there any way to get the vendor/model of the monitors currently connected to the computer? I did a little bit testing. I plugged both screens to my vga card (the Nec to the HDMI output and the Dell to the DVI output), and the gnome-display-properties tool properly detected the model, size, resolution... of both screens connected. I would like to know if I can use a command on bash (or a library in python) to get the same information.
The /var/log/Xorg.0.log also shows properly:

I could always parse that file, but it is not the best solution. I also tried the ddprobe command, but for some reason, it only detects one of the screens (the Dell, connected to a DVI cable). I am currently using Ubuntu 9.04 and Python2.4 (just in case it's relevant).
i installed kde to my usb drive but i think the grub also went to it because im running windows 7 and now kde but would like to know how to uninstall it if i ever have to. and also i cannot boot my computer unless that specific usb is connected

For example, I booted my netbook earlier today but my phone wasn't plugged in. Tethering did not work, it just acts as if it isn't present. I rebooted (with my phone still attached) and now tethering magically works.
