But how do i set it so i can access the repos? i'm using my phone for an internet connection(not WIFI)the app is called proxoid
I can connect to my access point to surf internet. I setup my Dlink access point (password, network name, etc) in Vista by visiting "http://dlinkap/" in my web browser.
In ubuntu, I can connect and surf the web/internet but i cannot access the setup page.
When I try to type the "http://dlinkap/" to my browser then the browser will redirect it to google search.
I try 192.168.1.1, I can access my linksys router. but my dlink access point, i cannot access the setup page.
I'm using virtual network (NAT network) for my domU.When I change dom0's firewall setup, the domU will fail to connect to Internet anymore. So far, the only way to bring the network back is reboot dom0 !I try to restart service network and libvirtd on dom0 ... it doesn't work. How can I bring the domU network back without reboot dom0 ?
I installed fresh copy of fedora 11. I can't activate or deactivate ethernet from system>Administration>Network. Why is this............I can connect to internet directly by enabling network icon on right topmost corner. Even doing so dosen't guarantee connection at times. What could be wrong here ? Also my network icon shows it is disconnected whenever I start my computer. Cant fedora 11 just connect to the internet while it boots ?
I just installed Fedora 14 on my laptop as a Dual Boot with Windows 7.The problem I am having is that I can't get fedora to connect to my wireless internet.I can access it just fine on the windows side.On my Fedora desktop at the top there a little icon with two little computer monitors there is also a little x by them. Here is whats in the computer as far as networking devices:
Realtek RTL8191SE Wireless Lan 802.11N PCI-E NIC
I also have a:
Realtek RTL8187 Wireless 802.11b/g 54Mbps USB 2.0 Network Adapter
No matter how I configure settings it don't work.If I have to download something on the windows side to fix this please let me know how to get it to the linux partition.
I have installed fedora 12 recently. after installation i tried to connect to the internet using BSNL broadband connection. I filled in the details such as IP, Netmask, Gateway and even DNS servers. In the services also I ensured that the network manager services is on. However even though my computer cannot connect to the internet. I then tried the ping test of the modem from the address 192.168.1.1 and found that the ping test is successful. Then i tried the network administrator and there I noticed something unusual.
There are two options in the devices eth0 and eth1 thats ok but the unusual; thing is that the Activate (green button), Deactivate (red button) and even the delete buttons are in the background and I cannot select them. Isthis the problem for the network connectivity.

I have installed Fedora 10 on my Intel system. I am not able to connect to internet from it. Mine is a broadband connection with ADSL+2 modem. I could connect once but afterwards it was deactivated and I got following bug report.

I've been trying to connect to the internet in Fedora 10 for the last week but can't figure it out. The OS has automatically connected to the internet a couple of times but now does not connect at all. The LAN ROM Boot option is enabled in my BIOS and am using a speedtouch 585v7 router provided by my ISP, I have an ADSL router and it's a standard ethernet connection to the router. What do I do to connect to the internet
I have just installed Fedora 10. After the installation I was able browse the Internet. However, I did a update: yum update and downloaded 287 updates. However, when I rebooted I could no longer connect to the Internet. I went to network manager and looked at the details of my connection. Everything ok there. IP address, DNS, etc. However, I cannot connect. I have windows xp running on the same system. I can still connect, so there is nothing wrong with my Internet connection.I am using Fedora 10 2.6.27.12-170 There is one thing I have noticed when I shutdown is I see this: "Network manager Int PIC disabled" However, this is only displayed for a few seconds before the computer swiches off.
When I fire up my F10, I get connected to the Internet through wireless automatically. I jus wanted to experience how the CLI- Command Line Interface world is and to test the text based internet apps like elinks, lynx etc.. So I changed the runlevel to 3 in my /etc/inittab file. Now when I fire it up, it gives me the terminal.
The problem is I am unable to connect to internet. How should i connect to the Wireless Access Points.. n also here internet is under a http proxy ...so how to configure the connection.
I have tried a lot, like
Code:
I have used this part of script many times in runlevel 5 i.e X mode under gnome for spoofing my wireless adaptor's mac id by adding a line before starting the NetworkManager service.
Code:
I have also tried something like
Code:
But this one shows nothing(no output just stays blank) I dont get why it doesnt work under runlevel 3..
2 days ago I did a fresh install of Fedora on my computer to be dual-booted with Linux Mint. The first time I did this install a few weeks ago, I did all of the updates, rebooted (internet still fine) and when I rebooted again, Fedora could no longer connect to the internet (but could still see the networks and ostensibly connect to them). I fixed it then by manually setting the BSSID/IP/DNS/etc.
And this happened again on the new install! This time it took out the internet connection in Mint too. I tried manually setting the connection settings, but that didn't even work for a while. So, last night, thinking that the install might be the problem, I reinstalled Fedora. This morning I finally got my internet to connect on Mint, but I'm concerned that if I do all of the updates on Fedora I'm just going to end up back at square one with zero internet connection.
Actually I would like to connect to the internet with a Kubuntum, but I cant. I tried the KDE version of Fedora, and the Network Manager worked perfectly. I would need this basic Network Manager application, of Fedora KDE, I can not connect to the internet with my computer (have cable neither) so I would like to download it, and burn to a dvd. I have been googling around, but haven't found a version which I could install. I hope that it is possible to install on my Kubuntu this software. I would be really greatful if You could tell me from where can I download it!
I am trying to connect to a wireless internet but can't. I previously used linux ubuntu and my wireless card worked. I am guessing that it should work with fedora then too. Is that correct? Do you have any suggestions as to what I should do to get the wireless internet working again on Fedora 12? Or what I should do to get usb wireless adapter to work.
I can not connect to internet using Fedora 9. But I can connect using Windows XP on the same machine. I have a ADSL modem & the modem is connected to the Ethernet Port of my Computer.
I have a fresh install of ubuntu. I am trying to load some new packages but I think I need internet connection. The issue is I cannot connect to the internet I think I need to setup a network package so I can connect to the internet? This is the first time I have used linux.
I am using Fedora 11 all upgrades, wireless network WUSB54G network adapter. I can get to the internet but cannot get to any Windows (192.168.1.100) or Fedora 11 (...104) computers, printer (....101, 105). Here are the tests I have run.

I am using samsung mobile (sgh-b220) in order to connect to the internet. I can easily connect on windows system , using PC studio software. I tried KPPP, wvidial none solved the problem. (It successfully dials the number. Put pppd connection will be terminated)
Some how I managed to scan modem communication taking place on the windows system, and tried exact commands on linux system still I am not able connect.
I have attached log files from windows machine. wvidial.conf, wvidial out put file along with this post.
I cannot connect to internet. I just installed Fedora 12 w/ the Live CD and I have a Linksys WMP54G Wireless Card (v4.1 I believe) and it apparently installed fine upon install of fedora. It will not thought connect to the internet. It reads my connect (NETGEAR-2.4-G), my router is a Netgear WNDR3300. It worked perfectly fine on Windows XP. Like I said, it picks up my wireless connection. But when I go to connect it attempts to connect for like a minute or two then goes back to not connected.
I've replaced Ubuntu 10.10 with F13 and can't connect to the Internet.
I'm using a WiFi connection to my router. I receive an IP address via DHCP. I can connect to the router's web configuration interface, 192.168.2.1. Same with my NAS web configuration interface.
I've also tried with Live CD (F13 and F14beta). Same thing: receive IP, connect to router's web interface, can't connect to Google.
As a check, I tried Ubuntu Live CD and I can connect to the Internet.
I've also tried F13 Live CD on my laptop. Can't connect to the Internet.
I have so many _wired_ devices that I can't get by with just 4 eth cable outlets anymore, so I thought I'd hook up an older router that I don't use as a way to get extra places to plug devices into.
Now it looks like:
Internet then cable modem then router1/wifi + (1 eth NAT storage) then router2 + 4 eth0 computers: (legacy FC5 box) (legacy F11 box) (updated F13 box) (windoze)
All of the computers EXCEPT the FC5 box are fine (my def of "fine" is I can ssh to and from the other computers and to outside computers, and browse the web).
The FC5 box, however, can ssh to and from computers inside the network just fine, but can't get any kind of web browsing. Nor can it ping to the outside. I get a "Network is unreachable" error. I'm not using a proxy, not knowingly, and my firewall settings haven't changed...it certainly hasn't been blocking port 80 before.
what's the best way to go about adding more ethernet when you need about 7 cables. I'm not really excited to buy a router with 8 ports or anything like that, especially when this seems to _almost_ be working just fine.
I use Windows7 on my laptop. I have got the following version of VMware Server installed on it. **VMware Infrastructure Web Access Version 2.0.0 Build 122589** **VMware Server Version 2.0.0 Build 122956** I am running Fedora Core 10 on VMware, but Fedora is not able to connect to the Internet. However, when I try to ping google.com, it works fine. However, if I try to open google.com in mozilla-firefox, it gets stuck at "Connecting to google.com" and then finally times out. Similarly, yum also gets stuck.
