CentOS 5 Server :: Loading Multiple Virtual Host Conf Files From Httpd.conf?

Jun 1, 2009

I've been scanning the apache2 docs for the past few days and have not come up with an answer my following issue:

In my httpd.conf file, at the very end, I have the line

Include conf/vhosts/vhost_*.conf

However, when I run apache checkconfig or try to start apache, it gives me the error:

httpd: Syntax error on line 993 of /etc/httpd/conf/httpd.conf: Could not open configuration file /etc/httpd/conf/vhosts/vhost_1.conf: Permission denied

It appears as if the Include line is correct - in terms of it grabbing the first virtual host conf file. However, I'm confused on the permissions. the /etc/httpd folder is owned by root:root, as are the subfolders. As a test, I chown'd the conf/vhost folder combination and all the vhost files to apache:apache to see if that made a difference, and it appeared to make no difference at all. The log files don't contain anything (assumed because apache isn't starting). If I place the contents of the vhosts in a singular vhosts.conf it works - with the permissions set to root:root. I'd like to avoid having to use one vhosts conf for the configuration I'm trying to achieve - as it would make my life a lot easier.

Fedora Installation :: Getting G95 From G95.org - Error: Suffix Or Operands Invalid For `push'

Apr 16, 2009

i followed the install method in the g95.org as follows.Installation Notes Unix (Linux/OSX/Solaris/Irix/etc.): Open a console, and go to the directory in which you want to install g95. To download and install g95, run the following commands:

wget -O - http://ftp.g95.org/g95-x86-linux.tgz | tar xvfz -

ln -s $PWD/g95-install/bin/i686-pc-linux-gnu-g95 /usr/bin/g95

everything seemed to work fine. the g95 command in terminal prompted a "no input files" so it seemed to work. i made a quick hello program to test and i get these errors.

/tmp/cc3Ugii1.s: Assembler messages:

/tmp/cc3Ugii1.s:11: Error: suffix or operands invalid for `push'

tested the program with gfortran and it worked fine. i googled around a little and it appears that the error have something to do with a 64 bit 32bit problem. i mean like the compiler is expecting 64 bit, but libraries are 32 bit. or somthing like that.

Fedora :: Resolve The Country And Internet Registry Source For 150.216.2.252?

Nov 2, 2010

I am comparing jwhois and whois. Specifically, I want to resolve the country and Internet registry source for 150.216.2.252. The correct information is United States and ARIN; however, using the whois command it says it is in Australia and APINC. This is incorrect. I have compiled jwhois; however, it will not work on ip address. It will resolve cnn.com and other websites; however, will not work on ip address such as 150.216.2.252. When I try to use an IP address it says:

jwhois-4.0$ jwhois 207.58.150.216
[Querying whois.arin.net]
[Unable to connect to remote host]

How can I get jwhois to work on this ip address or whois to resolve the correct United States information?

Fedora Networking :: Resolv.conf Not Replaced

Nov 1, 2010

I use Fedora 13 (minimal installation), ISC DHCP server 4.1.1-P1. I'm running Fedora 13 too on a separate machine (minimal installation) with ISC DHCPclient 4.1.1-P1. My goal is to do some IPv6 testing. When I use the DHCP client manually (dhclient -6 -timeout 5 -d -v eth0), the client retrieves and installs a dynamically assigned IPv6 address.

Additionally, the client gets 1 DNS resolver address and 1 DNS search list. The resolver address and DNS search list always get written into /etc/resolv.conf. Perfect, exactly what I need. But when I do a "service network restart" or restart my system (which should trigger the same, as far as I understood), the DNS resolver addr and the search list get written into /etc/resolv.conf.save and the /etc/resolv.conf stays as before. How can I change this behavior? I don't need the .save file, I just want to have /etc/resolv.conf replaced by the latest DNS information.

Networking :: Slow Outbound - Fast Outbound Cross Country Connection

Jun 2, 2011

I'm having an issue where a server in CA (1000/full) and in VA (100/full) have very lopsided data transfer.

CA -> VA with iperf shows ~20Mbps
VA -> CA with iperf shows ~93Mbps

If we change the CA server to 100/FULL, transfer speed is 93Mbps both ways.

Some tuning was done to TCP window scaling parameters, but it won't correct the issue, just improve the CA -> VA numbers to what is listed above. I will say, turning TCP window scaling OFF will lower the transfer speed both ways to < 20Mbps.

The only clue I have when looking at wireshark dumps is that the window scale going OUT would never go past 10240 (scale is 8, so 2^8 x 40bytes). In the opposite direction, the window size will go above 3MB (scaled).

It is not a bandwidth problem as iperf with UDP shows 93Mbps both ways. Local transfers (CA 1000/full to CA 100/full) show full speed both ways, so I feel it is strictly related to TCP window scaling.

RedHat 5 64-bit on both sides. Any ideas why it won't scale above 10240?

Fedora Networking :: Name Resolution: Resolv.conf - NetworkManager - Nameserver

Mar 22, 2009

I just installed F10 from a Live download iso on a Sony VAIO laptop with an Intel PRO/Wireless LAN2100 3B Mini PCI Adapter. The linux driver is ipw2100 and functions without problems.

After the install I accepted the update downloads offer and downloaded somewhere around 170 updates. The kernel version is 2.6.27.19-170.2.35.fc10.i686.

I am using a Linksys WRT55AG as a DHCP server. Using NetworkManger it assigns IP addresses without incident.

My problem is that I can't get name resolution to function without manual intervention.

I can ping other wireless nodes on my network and the response to $ dig -q www.yahoo.com is: ->>HEADER<<- opcode: QUERY, status: REFUSED, id: 30153

The /etc/resolv.conf file contains no entry for 'nameserver=' and if I manually edit /etc/resolv.conf, it is overwritten on reboot or restarting the NetworkManager service. I am aware of /etc/sysconfig/networking/profiles/default/resolv.conf.

Additionally, in the var/log/messages file I can see that NetworkManager makes links between /etc/resolv.conf and the default version.

However, after either rebooting or restarting the NetworkManager service, if I manually enter a DNS address 192.168.1.1 (my wireless router) under the DNS tab of the system-config-network 1.5.95 application. This address does not persist after either rebooting or restarting NetworkManager.

If I disable NetworkManager, I can't get the WRT55AG to assign the wilreless adapter an IP address.

So the bottom line and my question is what do I need to do in order to simply boot and have wireless connectivity?

To what file does system-config-network 1.5.95 write the DNS address entered from it's GUI?
