Fedora :: Resolve The Country And Internet Registry Source For 150.216.2.252?

Nov 2, 2010

I am comparing jwhois and whois. Specifically, I want to resolve the country and Internet registry source for 150.216.2.252. The correct information is United States and ARIN; however, using the whois command it says it is in Australia and APINC. This is incorrect. I have compiled jwhois; however, it will not work on ip address. It will resolve cnn.com and other websites; however, will not work on ip address such as 150.216.2.252. When I try to use an IP address it says:

jwhois-4.0$ jwhois 207.58.150.216
[Querying whois.arin.net]
[Unable to connect to remote host]

How can I get jwhois to work on this ip address or whois to resolve the correct United States information?

Fedora Networking :: Can't Connect To Internet After F13 Install / Resolve It?

Nov 4, 2010

I've replaced Ubuntu 10.10 with F13 and can't connect to the Internet.

I'm using a WiFi connection to my router. I receive an IP address via DHCP. I can connect to the router's web configuration interface, 192.168.2.1. Same with my NAS web configuration interface.

I've also tried with Live CD (F13 and F14beta). Same thing: receive IP, connect to router's web interface, can't connect to Google.

As a check, I tried Ubuntu Live CD and I can connect to the Internet.

I've also tried F13 Live CD on my laptop. Can't connect to the Internet.

Fedora :: Using To Edit Windows Registry?

Jun 19, 2010

It's been weeks since I've logged into Windows but to test a eth0 card issue I now want to see if it works in Win7 and lo and behold, I can't for the life of me remember my Windoze password.I see lots of references to using specially created iso files to gain access to edit the registry, but I am wondering if anyone knows the commands I would need (from the command prompt of my F13 install dvd, rescue mode) to access the registry and what section I would need to change.I am guessing that I can do this from the command line without needing to download a special iso that (for all I know) could have any number of malware on it.I know this is not exactly the place to ask for a Windows registry edit walkthrough, but I figure some of you out there might have done this yourselves.

OpenSUSE :: Internet / Network Not Working On 11.2 KDE / Resolve This?

Apr 4, 2010

Just recently installed Opensuse 11.2 in a KDE environment. The problem I am facing is that when I connect it to my network either via wired or wirless neither getting internet or access to the network although the network manager shows the connection as active
I am using a Dlink Di-524 Wireless Router at home
The Wirless router for the computer is Broadcom BCM 4312
Was able to install the drivers for this from the packman repository

Also when I connect my laptop directly to the internet connection via wired it is working fine. However if i connect it to my wireless router either over wifi or thru wired it just shows connected but i can neither access internet or other computers on the network.
Have checked the wireless router other computers (windows and ubuntu are being able to access the internet via it)

Networking :: Can't Get To Internet With My Centos System / Resolve This?

Nov 24, 2010

I recently configure a centos linux distro to use on the internet.my actual plan is to use it as a router to the internet for computers on my network. the system already has two lan cards which i have configured with their appropriate ip addresses. now with this initial configuration i believe i should be able to browse the internet, but my problem now is that i cant even though the lan card pointing to isp is correctly configured with the ips, gateway and dns from my isp. i cant even do a ping to the outside world.
I cant really pin point where the issue is coming from but i am guessing maybe my route are not well configured. i get ''unknown host google.com" message when i ping google.com and a ping to my gateway address gives '' Network is unreachable". i have been using this system before as my gateway, but only recently switched isp and i started having this issue when i reconfigure the system to my new isp settings. Now, on a windows system, all goes fine so i have been able to safely remove the fact that maybe it is from my isp from the picture. How do i resolve this?

Ubuntu :: Can't Connect To Internet Server Through Cable / Resolve This?

Sep 10, 2010

I have recently downloaded and installed ubuntu 10.4, and I am finding it impossible to connect to the Internet.

I connect to the Internet through an Ethernet cable. My university (Tuebingen, Germany) provides the Internet through this server:

http://10.196.128.11/upload/custom/green/welcome.html (English link).

When I open my browser in windows vista (I have a duel-boot system), my browser (Firefox) automatically goes to this page, and I log in, and am able to then use the Internet.

Ubuntu also searches for this 10.196.128.11 server, but it continually states "waiting for server to respond". I have checked all the settings I could find in windows and compared them to the ones in ubuntu, and they seem to be identical to me. I am using firefox in ubuntu too so I cannot understand the problem.

Ubuntu Networking :: OpenDNS - 8.04 Machine Do Not Always Resolve Internet Address

I have an odd thing going on with DNS. I have two machine's running Ubuntu and for some reason they do not always resolved internet addresses on my Internet connection. This has gone on since the Ubuntu 8.04 when I first started using Ubuntu. Anyway, I use OpenDNS' DNS servers and I have been running perfectly.

This is what is odd. My Windows XP Machine never has the problem. It always resolves. Does Windows Possibly have some Microsoft hosted DNS server hard coded in there as a backup? Things are working fine this way so I am not looking to change. I am just a little puzzled and finally got around to asking, "Why is this".
