I have a broadcom 4322 with the broadcom-wl driver on Fedora 11. It worked the first time I used it, and since then is unable to detect any networks. I've tried reinstalling the driver, and it still does not work. Any suggestions?

With this card I am not able to detect any wireless networks and after googling around I found out other people have had similar issues. But my problem is kind of unique in the sense that I'm using Backtrack as my Linux distribution (I'm not a blackhat or anything, more of an enthusiast with no malicious intentions) Also I'm not a God at Linux so if you have any solutions please be verbose! I just switched from Ubuntu to Fedora 13 because I was unable to get Ubuntu to connect to wireless networks. I tried everything suggested in help and forums, and kept getting "Bad Password" with WICD and Network Manager. Now, with Fedora...I still can't connect.
Problem #1: The guide says to "...make sure that the relevant wireless interface (usually eth0 or eth1) is controlled by NetworkManager," and that I do this via: System>Administration>Network
However, there is no Network option under System>Administration.
Problem #2: I open Network Manager, which displays a list of networks. I click on mine, configure it with WPA and the right password, and it fails to connect: "The network connection has been disconnected."

It was working fine this morning, until I accidentally hit Fn F2, disabling the wireless card. I hit Fn F2 again to reenable it, but it no longer will detect any wireless networks (and other computers in the household do recognize them). View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a WLAN Driver Azure Wave AW-NU222 Wireless LAN Card in my Medion computer.
After installing Ubuntu it seems to detect the wireless networks in my area. However, when I try to connect to my network, it tries for several minutes and then times out with no error message. I have set up the credentials and also tried removing the encryption (WPA-PSK) from the network itself, but it still doesn't connect.
Connect via an Ethernet cable is fine, and I know that the network is good because I can connect via my Windows Laptop and various other wireless devices.
I suspect it's due to drivers, but I'm having trouble downloading a driver which I can try and install using Ndiswrapper. The Medion website just a windows executable when I try and download the driver specific to my machine when I really need the .inf file.
I just downloaded and installed ubuntu netbook 10.4 on my samsung n130 netbook...love it, except for one little thing: it won't detect any wireless networks. this is how i connect to the internet at home so using an ethernet cable is not an option.i tried putting in "ifconfig wlan0 up" in the terminal, but all it gives me is "permission denied".

View 6 Replies View RelatedThere was quite a bit of threads about this card, and getting it to work mostly boils down to downloading Ralink's propitiatory driver. The card uses RT2870 chipset, and Ubuntu comes with two drivers that are supposed to support it, neither of which seems to work with WUSB600N. One of the drivers included with Ubuntu detects networks operating on 2.4GHz but fails to connect to them, but does not detect 5GHz networks at all.
I was wondering if anybody knows what is so special with this card that it doesn't work with drivers that are shipped with Ubuntu? The card works nicely with Ralink's driver, but it's a bit annoying to have to recompile it on every kernel update (would be much nicer if it worked with stock drivers).

View 6 Replies View RelatedI have been using Ubuntu for quite a long time and I never got around fixing this particular wireless problem. I have tried Network Manager as well as Wicd. I am never able to connect to a secure network (WPA). When I use Network Manager, it just tries for a long time and gives up. As for WiCD, it again tries for a long time and finally says "Bad Password". Of course, the passkey is correct. When I connect to an unsecured network, it goes through just fine. I have a Dell Inspiron 1545 which uses a Broadcom 43xx Driver.

Considering that to get this card working I had to attempt about four different sets of instructions to get this far, could I have placed the card in a broadcast mode? At my University there is a FreeRadius authenticated wireless network (called "UCC") that I would like to connect to. Using NetworkManager I have created an automatic profile called "Auto UCC" that contains my user details for the connection. When attempting to connect to the network, the NetworkManager icon spins for a couple of minutes and then presents me with the authentication dialog. If I re-enter my details (and disable the CA cert prompt), it repeats the process seemingly infinitely (spin-spin-spin, auth box) Attached is a copy of the syslog from first attempting to connect to stopping the connection attempts. I realize that Ubuntu recognizes the card, but I'm not sure why it's not picking up any networks that are around and says "disconnected", even though I've made sure that the wireless network light is enabled on the netbook.
New Ubuntu user here, and I'm having difficulties connecting to my router at home. I've searched around the forum for a couple of hours now, to no avail. My router was originally not broadcasting ssid, so I turned broadcasting on. Now I can see the router, but when I enter a password (which I know is correct) nothing gets connected.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI have just downloaded Ubuntu 10.04 Desktop version and browsed the trial version without installing it onto my laptop. OK, I love it. I have decided to get rid of Windows 7 and install Ubuntu as the sole OS. However, I have got three questions before I do it.
1) Ubuntu couldn't detect any wireless networks. Was that because I run only the trial version? I am really concerned about it as I am a frequent Internet visitor.
2) Ubuntu preloaded movie and audio players couldn't play anything from my external HD. I got warning that plugin MPEG-2 System Stream demuxer was missing and couldn't be found (as I couldn't access Internet, I guess).
I suppose I will be able to download the missing plugins. This leads to question
3) Once I download the necessary missing plugins, what am I supposed to do with them? How to install them?

I'm running ubuntu 9.10 on my desktop.Wireless networks appear on the dropdown menu but when I try to connect to my home network the authentication box appears, after typing my password the box disappears and it continues to connect but nothing happens and after a while the authentication box appears again. So.. no internetz connected.

My ISP sets my router password at source, meaning I'm unable to disable wireless encryption (which is WPA 2 Personal). That being said, I don't seem to be able to detect *any* wireless networks (I can still connect via ethernet, which does not require the password).
I'm not certain where the problem is, so I'll outline my steps and what the results were:
Under "System > Administration > Hardware Drivers" I have the "Broadcom STA proprietary wireless driver" installed (for BCM4311-, BCM4312-, BCM4321-, and BCM4322- based hardware)
The driver is activated and currently in use. When I type

I'm running Karmic Koala on my laptop and I'm attempting to connect to my university's secure wireless network. I was directed here by the university's computer help websiteI've followed all the steps, but when I open the wireless network authentication applet and try to browse to my private key, I can't find it. The "chose your private key" window claims to be looking for "DER, PEM, or PKCS#12 private keys (*.der, *.pem, *.p12)," and while my private key file shows up as a .p12 file when I open that location with my file browser, the file doesn't show up when I try and browse to it from the authentication applet. I've attached an image which shows the file in one window, but not in the other f clarification.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI am trying to configure my android phone (rooted Eris running kaossfroyo 2.2) to be used as a midi controller. Which I am having enough trouble with as it is but it has raised an annoying issue that occurred a month ago when I used the phones tethering network with my laptop. After connecting the laptop to the phones network (either tether, or an Ad-hoc network created using the network manager) I am unable to switch to other networks. In other words when I'm done with the phone-laptop connection I cannot connect my laptop to my home network! When I click on the other network connection I can see that it is attempting to connect in the upper right corner of the desktop (the network icon) but it will not make the connection.
What happens is that the network indicator will make the little circle graphic as if it is trying to connect but it never will display the other circle as green indicating that it has connected. but when I disconnect from the home network that is not connecting I will get a message underneath that will say that ad-hoc network disconnected! If I am switching from the android tether it will say Android-Tether disconnected etc. Even though when I click on network manager it shows that I am attempting to connect to the home network (labeled LIBERTY in my case) upon disconnection it shows the ad-hoc or tether connection being disconnected.
I am absolutely baffled by this! The issue persists even after deleting the ad-hoc connection from the wireless settings tab!!! I would speculate that for some reason the laptop is attempting to connect to the previous ad-hoc connection despite me wanting it to connect to LIBERTY. I am very confused and hope someone can lead me in the right direction.
Ubuntu 9.10 comes with rt2870, the driver for my Zonet ZEW2545, and I have had to blacklist rt2800usb in /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist.conf in order for rt2870 to work. My network adapter is able to attempt to connect to my router, but after 10-40 seconds it tells me I am disconnected again. This adapter works fine on windows.

I did not realize that you had to install Guest Additions but after much reading I finally got it done. After I was done the max size I could go to was 1024x768. Using detect monitors I still get "Unknown" as a result.
I really don't know what else to try as I am not to proficient with the OS. I would like to run it at my monitors native resolution so I can have it on my other monitor. IE: Monitor 1-Vista. Monitor 2- F13

I have a rocketraid 2640x4 with 2 500gb HDDs configured in my system. I also have a 3.5" usb floppy disk plugged in with the SCSI drivers When I boot the RHEL 5.5 x86 32 bit installer, i type in "linux dd" at the first screen. Then it asks me to load my drivers via the floppy disk which i do. When i get to the installation page of Linux after entering my serial key, it is not able to detect my HDD so i am unable to proceed. I have tried using drivers for RHEL 5, 5.1 and 5.2. There are no drivers for 5.5.
