Slackware :: KMail Sending Messages From Wrong Account

Sep 22, 2010

I have around 6 email accounts for business & private use that I retrieve and send via pop/smtp with Kmail (Version 1.11.4). But it seems that all my outgoing mail is only sent via one account (say first@gmail.com) even if I select another account for the outgoing I.D field and FROM field. When I look in the sent folder the headers shows the correct sent from account but my recipients headers show they were all sent from first@gmail.com! Ebay keeps bouncing my emails back too as a result saying the email is not registered. It used to work just fine so not sure what is happening. I have tried reinstalling Kmail/kdepim-4.2.4-x86_64-1.txz deleted all the accounts and recreated them but the problem persists.

OpenSUSE Network :: Firewall Sending Messages For Allowed Port?

In the firewall, I opened port 5900 for TCP traffic. Now the console is displaying packet information whenever a connection is made. Why does it send a message to stdout/stderr for an allowed connection? How can I stop it? Logging level is set to critical only, and not-accepted packets should only be logged for the internal and DMZ zones.

Fedora Networking :: Not All Computers Shown In Smbtree?

Apr 21, 2009

I have 5 or 6 computers on my home network. Most of them are wired connections, a few wireless. All the Linux machines run Samba and they are all configured identically. Workgroup name is the same on all, user=share on all and they all have a share or 2. I can ping any one from any other but they don't all show up when I run smbtree, usually from my wireless laptop. Maybe I should run it on all the Linux boxes and see what the result is, but I've never done that. My question is, why do they not all show up? One of them never shows in the list. The Windows boxes always do.

Fedora Networking :: Can't Communicate Fully With Other Computers ?

Oct 20, 2009

I downloaded and installed a new copy of Fedora 11 last week onto a new computer (hereafter "proximate"). I also have a remote computer without a monitor running an outdated version of Red Hat Linux (hereafter "remote"). To manage the processes on remote graphically, I ssh from proximate into remote; this connection succeeds without incident in transmitting text (including commands) between the two computers; however, the command "gnome-session" returns: (gnome-session:15789): Gtk-WARNING **: cannot open display:

(The numbers apparently represent the process identifier and vary from instance to instance.) A similar warning (and no accompanying graphics) occurs whenever I attempt to start any graphical user interface from remote via ssh from proximate. The issue almost certainly lies with proximate; remote successfully communicated graphics to the ancient box that proximate replaces.

Interestingly, I cannot communicate via ssh from remote to proximate (within a secure shell from proximate to remote). If I execute /usr/sbin/sshd on proximate as root, then I can login, but even then I cannot execute any commands.

Consider the following output:

If I execute ssh -vvv proximate from remote to proximate, then I get a lengthy output that ultimately ends with "debug1: Exit status 254."

What must I do to communicate both text and graphics among my computers?

Fedora Networking :: Static DHCP Works On All Computers

Oct 18, 2009

I'm pulling my hair out to figure out what's gone wrong. I have a small home network with a router and 4 computers, 3 linux boxes and 1 windoze machine.The windoze machine and 2 of the linux boxes (newer ones, one with FC11 and the other with Ubuntu Hardy) are using the router's "Set Static IP" option just fine. However an older FC5 machine I have always gets its IP assigned randomly. As this is the machine I ssh into from overseas via a Dynamic DNS, this is a huge frustration when the power goes off or I need to restart the machine. It's usually 192.168.0.2 but sometimes 192.168.0.3 and occasionally other numbers as well. It _should_ be 192.168.0.130. As near as I can tell, I'm doing everything the same between the machines. The router config is very simple and works for the other systems so I suspect I may have a legacy tweak that I did years ago that's causing the problem.

Anyone know what I can try? I'm afraid I'm not a networking guru (ahem, wouldn't be posting if I were!) so things like "check the this" will be more helpful if there's a clear example. "Check the this...emacs /etc/thisfile/config" and see if XYZ option is TRUE" is far more useful. Again, many thanks. If none of the systems were working right then it would be totally different...but 3 seem to work just fine and happily get their assigned static IPs. It's the one non-conformist that's the trouble...

Fedora Networking :: Share Between 3 Computers Office Jet 5610 All In One

Jan 29, 2010

As the Subject mentions I have an Office Jet 5610 All in One Printer that I am trying to share between 3 Computers.

Computer Number 1: Laptop running Fedora 12 with the Gnome desktop. This is the computer to which the printer is physically connected to. I have no issues printing from this printer at the laptop. I have installed both samba and cups. I can access cups online and manage the printer from the Laptop with no issues I have checked to make sure sharing was turned on and in the laptop i have made sure that internet sharing with the printer is turned on.

Computer Number 2: Desktop running Sabayon 5.1 with the Gnome desktop. I can see the printer and it tells me that its ready. I try to print a simple test page and i get error: Destination Printer not accepting Jobs. I'm not sure if this is a Sabayon issue a Cups issue or a Fedora Issue.

Computer Number 3 Desktop running that Redmond Crap (Wifes Computer) Yeah Redmond wont even find the network printer much less print to it.

I forgot to mention that i have checked my firewall to make sure IPP was allowed and Samba was allowed so i do know that these are not the issues. I do have SELInux installed and running though don't know if this could be the culprit or not.

Fedora Networking :: Share Internet Connection With Other Computers On LAN ?

May 28, 2010

Trying to share my internet connection with other computers on my LAN. I've tried doing this with Debian, Ubuntu & Fedora so far...

My Intended Setup is as follows;

The Problem: So far I've not been able to get an internet connection from any computer connected to the HUB. I currenty have Fedora 13 on PC1 but have also tried with both Ubuntu 10.04 & Debian Lenny. I am open to using any Linux based distro on PC1 as long it has a Gnome Desktop. eth0 on PC1 can be Static or Dhcp, but I would prefer to set Static IPs on eth1 & all of the Client PCs

To the best of my knowledge I have enabled ipv4 forwarding in sysctl.conf (& some other changes);

Code:

All changes I made to the Firewall (all other Firewall settings are still at default, no custom rules added yet);

Router is set up to assign dhcp from 192.168.xxx.100 & 192.168.xxx.200

At the moment I have only 1 PC attached to the HUB. It's Ubuntu 10.04 (PC2)
It's details are;
ip 192.168.xxx.103
netmask255.255.255.0
gateway 192.168.xxx.101

Thus Far I can't ping 192.168.XXX.103 from PC1 & I can't ping 192.168.XXX.101 from PC2. (unreachable) I have an internet connection on PC1 (of course)

Fedora Networking :: Raw Packet Creation - Sending Specific DHCP Offer?

Jan 25, 2011

I am trying to design an application which violates the DHCP. Specifically the difficulty in writing this application is physically sending the raw packet. I need some documentation on either a library that supports this or where to look for support for raw packet creation. I am not trying to create a raw datagram, that doesn't meet my needs because a raw datagram is still at layer 3 I need to craft a raw layer 2 PDU.

Specifically I want to
Send a very specific DHCPDISCOVER
Receive a DHCPOFFER
and pull apart the offer while never sending a DHCPREQUEST.

Specifically I am pulling apart various options that are sent in the DHCPOFFER. I have a raw DHCPDISCOVER already crafted and the formatted struct sockaddr_ll where I fault is I can't send the damn thing. Getting the file descriptor after calling socket is okay but what now? How would I write to that file descriptor and have it transmit?

Code:
int connfd;
struct sockaddr_ll bcast;
bcast.sll_family = PF_PACKET;
...
connfd = socket(PF_PACKET,SOCK_RAW,0);

Fedora Networking :: FC10 - Unusual System-config - Unable To Ping Other Computers Or Routers

Jun 2, 2009

I recently built my second general-purpose server, and recently installed fedora core 10 on it. The first thing I attempted to set up after installation was the network - and that's where it's gone wrong When editing a network device using the graphical system-config-network utility, I find that the subnet mask is being automatically changed to match the default gateway address every time I attempt to modify any of its settings (or sometimes even when I cancel the changes). This also means that I cannot set the subnet mask, as it simply won't accept my setting for it. I seem to be able to get around this glitch by setting the subnet mask using the shell version of the same utility, but that doesn't solve my network issue.

Even when I use the shell utility to fix the subnet mask, I'm unable to ping other computers or routers on the network even when ifconfig indicates that the desired ip address has been taken, and other computers on the network are also unable to see the server. I'm using a wired connection and a static IP address on a network with no DHCP.

Ubuntu Networking :: Samba And Nfs Can't See Other Computers?

May 3, 2010

I have a small home network. Computers A and B are both running Kubuntu Lucid. Computer A has an external USB hard drive attached, partitioned ext3 and mounted to a folder in computer A's home folder. Computer C is running Vista. I installed Samba, and computer C can access all the files on both computers A and B. But using Samba, computers A and B can't see each other OR computer C. That's not really important to me, but they can't

So I installed NFS and got computers A and B talking that way. I like NFS better. It's faster than Samba. BUT, computer B can't access computer A's USB drive, and I need it to do that. When I'm using computer B and I click on the folder the drive is mounted to, the file manager just shows the folder as empty.
