Fedora Networking :: Getting Subsonic To Work?

Mar 30, 2011

I'm trying to stream music from my computer to my phone (htc evo) using subsonic.org, but I'm having a hell of a time trying. I consider myself a network newbie, but with instruction I should easily be able to fix the problem. I have a linksys router, and my computer is wired to it.

Subsonic is giving me the message below...

Automatically doesn't work... > Automatically configure your router to allow incoming connections to Subsonic (using UPnP or NAT-PMP port forwarding).

If your router can't be configured automatically you can set it up manually. Follow the instructions on portforward.com. You must forward port 4040 to the computer running the Subsonic server.

Status: No router found.

By the way, yes I have UPnP enabled.

Fedora Networking :: Enable Wireless Networking Does Not Work In Windows?

I've been experiencing a problem with Fedora in which when I enable Wireless in Fedora, Wireless networking does not work in windows. HOwever, when disabled, it works correctly. Windows claims it is "not able to find any networks to connect to"

EDIT: It seems that when wireless is disabled manually on fedora before shutdown, there are no problems in windows.

Fedora Networking :: Samsung N130 Realtek 8192 Doesn't Work In Fedora 12

Apr 2, 2010

I have a Samsung N130 with a Realtek 8192 wifi card (possibly 8192e, I'm not sure) and I am trying to run Fedora 12 on it. I used to run Ubuntu until trying their latest beta and realizing it's not very good, so I looked for something else. Ubuntu was at least easy to get the wifi working with just a few quick commands that were written out, word for word, in order, on the Ubuntu forums. I tried openSUSE on here and it didn't have wifi working out of the box either but people on their forums refused to give me actual instructions and just kept bumping me from thread to thread with people giving vague advice or else just telling me I was looking in the wrong place. I'm hoping that someone can give me clear and detailed instructions on how to get this wifi card working. Keep in mind that I am coming from Ubuntu and so I'm not super comfortable in CLI, if I need to do some CL stuff I will need clear and detailed instructions on how to do that.

I think the VPN auth has been passed at that time, the problem might about creating the VPN Tunnel.

Fedora Networking :: Port Forwarding Does Not Work

Mar 22, 2009

I have a question regarding port forwarding. I have a fedora server, with two eth cards: eth0 ---> external IP, eth1 ----> LAN IP I use SNAT for connection sharing. I also have an internet domain hosted on this server... let's call it [URL] Anyway, one of our computers in the LAN has some kind of web server on it, which must be accessed from the internet on the port 23700.

So, using iptables -t nat -A PREROUTING -i eth0 -p tcp -m tcp --dport 23700 -j DNAT --to 192.168.1.25 (the IP of the network computer) Everything works perfectly fine from outside the lan. When I type [URL], I connect to that computer. My problem is that inside the lan, typing [URL] does not work! It only works if I enter it by IP 192.168.1.25:23700 Is there any way to make the server forward my request to that specific computer even if I'm inside the LAN?

Code:
iptables -A INPUT -s 192.168.0.0/255.255.255.0 -j ACCEPT
But where do I get the correct address from? Will this example allow only 192.168.0.0 (is this a valid IP at all, usable by any PC? ) or anyone in the network (aka 192.168.0.*) to access my share?

Fedora Networking :: HTTP Does Not Work To Some Sites?

Apr 13, 2009

I can ping certain websites, such as Adobe.com, but I cannot access them via http (i.e. through firefox or yum). Some websites work through http, like Google, while others don't. The ones that don't are always the same.

What really hurts here is I cannot yum to all repos i'd like to. Since the same sites cannot be accessed through firefox, I imagine there is some underlying problem with my system's HTTP setup.

My windows machine on the same network works fine. I have had this problem since I installed Fedora 10 about 4 months ago. I'd rather not reinstall as nothing really seems broken (aside from this http issue), my system is completely up to date.

If I use a public proxy website I can get to the sites I can't connect to directly. I've followed a FAQ from mozilla for Firefox that hasn't helped, but I don't think its a Firefox issue since yum suffers as well. I also followed the fedora FAQ and I have been using OpenDNS servers.

Fedora Networking :: Cannot Get A Static IP Address To Work In 11?

Oct 29, 2009

I cannot get a static IP to work on Fedora 11. Using Network Manager, I set the IP to 192.168.1.130, the subnet mask to 255.255.255.0 and the gateway to 192.168.1.0 but it doesn't work. I also tried 192.168.1.1 for the gateway, which is what I used in FC7 but still no luck. I verified that these are the settings that I used in FC7, I don't remember ever having a problem before with this.I do remember someone telling me not to use Network Manager in conjunction with Network Configuration... does that make sense? That was for FC9 on my laptop and it was for the wireless so perhaps that doesn't apply here. I did try unchecking the box for Network Manager and using strictly Network Configuration but it still didn't work.

Here is a screensnap of network information;

Pinging google.com returns with an unknown host error while pinging 192.168.1.1 yeilds no results. The cursor gives busy status & upon manually cancelling the ping, I get 100% packet loss. I connect the same modem via USB to my laptop but the internet works fine there.

Fedora Networking :: Two NIC One Machine / Way To Get Two Interfaces To Work Together?

Mar 24, 2011

- eth0 is connected to a 'Green" interface of a smoothwall router.
- eth1 is connected to a 'Orange' interface of the same smoothwall router.

The smoothwall router is setup to forward port 80 to the address of the eth1. I can ping eth1 from the smoothwall router so there is that connection.I have a web server running on port 80 and I have opened port 80 in the firewall and made eth1 a trusted interface. In this configuration, when accessing the outside world all the traffic goes through eth0 and DNS is snappy and faster. The problem is that anyone outside can not access the web server with a timeout error. If I disable eth0 and set DNS info on eth1( DNS servers are the QWest IPs ), people can access the web server, but DNS is very poor often taking more than a minute for a look up.Is there any way to get the two interfaces to work together?

Fedora Networking :: NAT Setup - Activated Eth0 Does Not Work

Mar 29, 2009

I've a desktop running Fedora 10 connected to the Internet via LAN. There's 3 network controllers in the desktop. One integrated to the motherboard and two additional. I would like to connect other computers (two laptops, one running fc9 and the other Window$ XP) to the Internet via the desktop. I googled the question and found out that I need to adjust thing called 'NAT'.

For that purpose I did the following:
iptables -t nat -A POSTROUTING -s 192.168.2.0/24 -j SNAT --to-source 192.168.*.*
where 192.168.*.* - is desktop' IP address. I want to use 192.168.2.0/24 as a network for laptops. I activated one of devices (eth1), gave it IP address:
ifconfig eth1 192.168.2.0/24
and connected f9 laptop to it.

On the laptop I activated eth0 with the same IP. The problem is: it doesn't work. I can't ping anything from the laptop except its own address (192.168.2.0).
