Sometimes when I try to view a website, I get this: [URL]. Is this a problem with DNS? I'd say this happens maybe 3% of the time I try to view pages, and always at the most obnoxious times possible. (Clicking the "facebook.com" link it recommends simply takes me to the same page again, by the way).
View 9 RepliesI have got my bsnl broadband few weeks ago. It is running nicely on my ubuntu lucid desktop. But form past few days I'm unable to browse some of my websites from ubuntu. I have dual boot my pc wiht Microsoft Window XP(original). The websites which are not opening in ubuntu are easily opening in xp. I have changed the DNS servers to 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4 and also my MTU to 1452 but nothing is happening.

I set username/password in modem (PPPOE mode) and when modem is Turn On, I connected to Internet. but in opening site or download file (any send packet) I have to wait ~20 sec to replay server. but if I use Bridge mode in modem I connect to Internet by ubuntu pppoe connection everything is fine and speedy.
I need to set username/password in PPPOE mode cuse my phone is thirsty of Internet.
I don't have this issue in Phone or Windows.
I can't send this thread, after ~20 sec waiting, Firefox wants to download a "newthread.PHP" file ! I have to Exchange to bridge mode!
I am having weird problem. My browser is able to open some of the sites but some sites are not opening. I tried opening them on other machine, they opened but don't know why not on my machine! Both browsers Firefox and Chrome are having same problem. I tried clearing cache and deleting history but didn't work.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI tried troubleshooting this on the Ubuntu forums, but my thread went nowhere, so here I am! I'm REALLY hoping someone can help, because this is immensely frustrating.I just moved to a new house, with a new ISP. All of a sudden, all the machines running Ubuntu (there are 4 of them on my network) are having trouble rendering websites properly. Some websites are perfectly fine; some render with things missing (e.g., no photos or no CSS); some render as text-only; and some won't display at all - I get a "server not found" error.If I boot into Windows on any of these machines, there's no problem.To complicate matters more: Sometimes the "server not found" sites will decide to connect, then they'll fail again. This has been changing day to day (sometimes even hour to hour). Anything within the google.com domain is a good example of this.Two of the affected machines are desktops (one running headless as a server), and two are laptops. All four are running Ubuntu, but they're all running different kernels. The ONLY things these machines have in common is that they're running Ubuntu, and they're all connecting to the internet wirelessly.
Because things work properly in Windows without exception, and because (at least on the laptops) things work fine in Ubuntu on any other internet connection, I can rule out wireless network adapters. I have tried using two different wireless routers - no change. I have tried using 4 different web browsers - no change. I have tried plugging a laptop directly into the incoming connection, bypassing the router entirely - no change. I have tried purging and reinstalling Flash on one of the laptops - no change. I have tried to connect to affected websites using their IP addresses to rule out DNS issues - no change.This one has me completely stumped. The only thing I can think is that this is something to do with my ISP, but I can't imagine what it would be. I called the guy who runs the ISP (it's a local outfit run by one or two guys, as I'm living in the middle of nowhere), and he said there's nothing he's aware of at the ISP level that would be causing a problem like this.
I just installed Fedora 15 and everything is working ok except i can't connect to some websites such as facebook or hotmail. I tried doing the same on windows and everything is ok there. I've been searching through forum about this problem but nothing seems to help. Has anyone else had this kind of problem and managed to fix it?

I can't login to gmail and facebook while I am still able to connect to these sites using my old router. I have also tryed to connect to these sites using my new router on windows and it worked with no problem.It is really strange for me, although I don't know that much about networking. I am using Fedora 13 and a TP-Link (TD-W8901G) Wireless router and I have these problems using both wired, and wireless connections with this router.

My net seams to be moody only in my fedora sometimes I have wait as long as 30 sec for the page to load where as in my windows it's fine no such delay. I have also installed vmware workstation 6.5 on the same computer, and successfully installed fedora 12 in vmware, with network is bridged.
I can successfully ping websites at the command line, e.g., ping [url], it did get replies with time and ttl, but i can't open the websites with firefox or conquerer browsers.
First some specs:

Driver r8169
Opera 11 and Firefox 3.6.16
Recently my ISP switched to PPPoEand since then my internet connection has been giving me problems. While browsing, some websites load fine, some websites load fine after I refresh once or twice, some load really slowly and the formatting tends to be messed up and some websites won't load at all (they stop at waiting for website...). Ping for all of these sites is however fine. Also uploading and downloading either from sites like rapidshare or using torrents is also fine. The same ISP also provides a second similar connection which is connected through a wireless router to two computers (one via a wired connection and one through wireless) both running Win 7 and everything works fine over there.
Things I've tried.
I tried using the router changing it's setting to my connection and connecting through that but the problem remains. After googling I thought it might be an MTU issue so tried this:

This works for various websites whether they load or not. My MTU is set at 1492 but I've tried various lower numbers all the way down to 1300 but no luck. I tried disabling ipv6 in Firefox but no change.
i am using Fedora 14. Once system get hanged during opening a video file so I had to restart the system by pressing restart button. But after restarting there are few problems appearing like system monitor not opening and Thunder bird opening but not showing any folder including inbox.

Looks like SElinux has stopped working
Since a fresh install of lynx, I've been having problems trying to get my resolution of 1366x768 to fit properly onto my monitor, regardless of what I try, the screen does not fit completely inside the monitor, and I have to pan around to view the entire desktop.
I haven't had problems with this in previous versions of ubuntu. I've tried all the nvidia driver versions in the repository, as well as the latest from nvidia itself and they all do the same thing.
I want to block all websites except desired websites.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI'm having a problem loading websites after a yesterday's "yum update" on F13. Before that everything worked fine but now when I open a browser, websites only load for about 2 seconds, after which any website I open just goes into a constant loading loop. I tried disabling the IPv6, as some threads suggested but it didn't help and pages still won't load. It happens on Opera and Firefox, so the problem seems not to be browser related. The connection is fine too, as I it works ok under Windows.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a dual boot (XP Pro and F13) laptop. This laptop has a Ralink RT2501USB Wireless Adapter which works perfectly fine on XP. But when it comes to F13, adapter only works properly when I am physically next to my router. When I move few feet away the strength of the connection drops from 100% to around 40%. But even though 40% should be okay for slow connection to internet, I can't get any internet access at all. I have tried three different routers with same results on each.
When I boot same machine with windows XP, all works fine. I can move to any part of my house and I will still have the connection without any issues.I can see that RT73 driver is installed if I check in add remove program under system.I am not an expert but to me its seems that the drivers on F13 for RT2501USB are not as good as on windows?
This is my startup routine:
I log on and Network Manager shows no wireless adapter.
I go to System > Administration > Network:
There are two entries in the Devices tab: Wireless and Ethernet
As soon as I double click the Wireless device and the configuration pops up, the device starts working (no changes to the settings are made)
I have the following set to ON:
- Controlled by Network Manager
- Activate device when computer starts
- Allow all users to enable and disable this device
I have recently set up two machines with F14 and on both, I am completely unable to make remote login via SSH work. openssh-server is installed and seems to work well:
I have already worked for hours on the problem now, using Google and trying numerous things, and still could not find any solution. On my other machine, which still uses F13, remote login works just fine. Is there any change in the default behaviour of the sshd I am not aware of? I would really appreciate your assistance!

I was previously trialling Win7 as my customers will likely be using that in the future. Then I wanted to go to internode.on.net. As it was just after Christmas I thought it must be down, for upgrades or maintenance etc. I later tried to go to Freebsd.org; same error. I've been having a small number of other websites give the same error. I thought nothing of this until I tried it on my wife's macpro. I could log onto all the websites I wanted to and none gave any indication of having been down. Both boxes are on the same adsl connection. I still can't access internode or freebsd on 10.10 yet have been able to access every website on OSX. Now, I was only looking at them for info but am worried I won't be able to access something important. (so far everything I 'need' is working)

Well i went to to download my favorite browser Opera and firefox just times out. I can get to other websites just fine so far. Though it looks like Office Depot won't let me in either. LAMP (192.168.0.2) client (192.168.0.3). Do i need to setup the DNS servers as well in my home network for me to access my intranet (LAMP).
