I am using ubuntu 8.04 and has firefox 3.5.15.of late,whenever i open [url] and [url] firefox crashes.also when opening window for changing themes,background firefox crashes.

But if I have firefox already up and running it will open as tabs of the firefox I already have running. How can I open the multiple pages in a new window in this case?
- Using -no-remote could work, but I would have to make a whole different firefox profile for each set of pages, not really a solution. - Also tried setting it to a particular display and it opened as a tab again. ie. firefox [URL] -display=":0.0"
I am having weird problem. My browser is able to open some of the sites but some sites are not opening. I tried opening them on other machine, they opened but don't know why not on my machine! Both browsers Firefox and Chrome are having same problem. I tried clearing cache and deleting history but didn't work.

I'd say this happens maybe 3% of the time I try to view pages, and always at the most obnoxious times possible. (Clicking the "facebook.com" link it recommends simply takes me to the same page again, by the way).
View 9 Replies View RelatedI have got my bsnl broadband few weeks ago. It is running nicely on my ubuntu lucid desktop. But form past few days I'm unable to browse some of my websites from ubuntu. I have dual boot my pc wiht Microsoft Window XP(original). The websites which are not opening in ubuntu are easily opening in xp. I have changed the DNS servers to 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4 and also my MTU to 1452 but nothing is happening.

I set username/password in modem (PPPOE mode) and when modem is Turn On, I connected to Internet. but in opening site or download file (any send packet) I have to wait ~20 sec to replay server. but if I use Bridge mode in modem I connect to Internet by ubuntu pppoe connection everything is fine and speedy.
I need to set username/password in PPPOE mode cuse my phone is thirsty of Internet.
I don't have this issue in Phone or Windows.
I can't send this thread, after ~20 sec waiting, Firefox wants to download a "newthread.PHP" file ! I have to Exchange to bridge mode!
I want to change login theme on ubuntu 10 as it was on ubuntu 9. I mean you can change the background and login style the area where you asked to put your password
View 1 Replies View RelatedI just updated to SUSE 11.3 and got the latest version of KDE 4.I'm not thrilled with the default theme (the taskbar running applications are really fuzzy) and would like to install a new one, but there isn't anyplace in the settings menu to change it. Did I miss something?

However when i use the latest version of this addon https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/fir...11377/#reviews the screen goes grey and firefox crashes. Restarting firefox only results in more crashes. I had a older version of this addon-1.5 i believe that worked fine.

View 1 Replies View RelatedWhen I used Karmic, I only had to use gconf-editor to set the titlebar widgets to the left once, and they stayed there when I changed themes, no matter what theme I set. Since I installed Lucid, every time I change themes (other than to radiance or ambiance), my titlebar widgets are moved from the upper left to the upper right, and I have to use gconf-edit or to switch them back to the way they were. Why is this happening and what can I do to stop it?

Wondering what themes are allowed and how to tell. I think I am using gnome-window-decorator, as that is running. I am using compiz with nvidia successfully. Do certain themes require a different window decorator like metacity?
Is is safe to switch between gnome-window-decorator and metacity and how do I do that? I have metacity installed: metacity-2.16.0.12.el5_4.1_x86_64 I tried this one: MCity-ClearlooksWithACherryOnTop.tar.gzbut it doesn't show up in the theme panel. From what I've read gnome-window-decorator is the old name for gtk-window-decorator. Can any gtk themes be used with the version of gnome in centos 5.4?
When you go to System/Preferences/Appearance/ and the Appearance Preferences window displays the graphical representations of the themes, on most of them the gnome image-missing.png is displayed where the window menu icon (far-left on the titlebar) should be displayed. I never had this happen with Intrepid, but I do have this situation now on Jaunty. It's not just with new or added themes, it's the system's default installed themes as well. If you search around the net you'll see that this is a pretty common problem. Is a .png getting deleted, or is it something else in the process that is 'broken'?
Many of my apps display their proper menu window icons (like nautilus, ff3, etc.) - but others do not. View 4 Replies View RelatedI sometimes take screen shots of websites in Firefox. The easiest way is to use one of the many extensions, e.g. Screengrab. However, I have discovered that, when trying to take a screen shot of the entire web page, the lower part of the page is not captured. This happens on WordPress sites and, curiously, on Mozilla's own results pages. Other pages seem to be unaffected. However, on Chromium, it works perfectly.

I noticed that files that were written in MS Word 2003 change when opened in Open Office 3.2.1 This usually involves tables, lists, and image placement, as well as page margins and boundaries. It sometimes makes it annoying when reading files saved in MS Word .doc format that other people send me. Does anyone know if there is an extension to fix this? Or settings that can be changed? Also, was this addressed in version 3.3.0 of OpenOffice? Has anyone tried it on LibreOffice? I don't want to install VirtualBox, Windows, and Office to read Word files properly. I dislike MS.

I want to install dark themes such as Cobra and Aero-ion but they conflict with Firefox, and I don't want to use Chromium. Do I have to stick with basic and default themes if I want to customize or switch to Google Chromium? Can someone point out a website that, well, has ones compatible with Firefox 4?
