Server :: Installing Packages With Yum Through Httpd For Local Respiratory?

Apr 29, 2010

I have fedora 11 as a host and two guest os rhel5 on VirtualBox. I wan to install a local repository on fedora 11 so that my guest os rhel5 can install packages through http with yum.To do this what I have done so far:

>Install httpd
>chkconfig httpd on
>service httpd start
>createrepo -v /var/www/html/rhel5/
>create file rhel5.repo in guest os /etc/yum.repos.d/

Code:

[RHEL5]
name=rhel5
baseurl=http://192.168.1.1/rhel5
gpgcheck=0

Here 192.168.1.1 is my fedora 11 local IP but have a look on the following error msg:

Code:

[pc5 ~]# yum install nfs*
Loading "rhnplugin" plugin
Loading "installonlyn" plugin

[code]....

fact is same process i have followed when i had rhel5 as a host os and i found no problem.Is there any problem with fedora 11 createrepo command that does not allow rhel5 to install package over http.

Fedora :: 15 - Unable To Install Cinelerra - Get "No Package Cinelerra Available" Errors

Jun 11, 2011

I have tried installing cinelerra with autoplus and even doing it by hand. Both ways I get "No package cinelerra available" errors.

From Autoplus:
Code:
Checking programs Completed,Now Running Choice Menu...
Loaded plugins: langpacks, presto, refresh-packagekit
atrpms | 3.5 kB 00:00
Setting up Install Process
No package cinelerra available.
Error: Nothing to do

I also followed the installation instructions from the AutoPlus website and got the same result. I looked at the ATrpm website and all I found was cinelerra-2.1-21_git20101021.src.rpm, Am I doing something wrong, or is there another way to install cinelerra?

General :: POPT Conflict When Installing YUM On Fedora 6?

Mar 25, 2010

I'm about 2 weeks working on this server to install yum : Im almost getting there, the Dependencies are reduced to 2: rpm-python and yum-fastestmirror.But installing rpm-python its driving me crazy... it keeps saying:

Code:

[root@03044f2 ~]# rpm -Uhv popt-1.10.2.3-18.el5.i386.rpm
warning: popt-1.10.2.3-18.el5.i386.rpm: Header V3 DSA signature: NOKEY, key ID e8562897
Preparing... ########################################### [100%]
file /usr/include/popt.h from install of popt-1.10.2.3-18.el5 conflicts with file from package popt-1.10.2-32

I found the package (popt-1.10.2-32) and it says it's already installed:

Code:

[root@03044f2 ~]# rpm -Uhv popt-1.10.2-32.i386.rpm
warning: popt-1.10.2-32.i386.rpm: Header V3 DSA signature: NOKEY, key ID 4f2a6fd2
Preparing... ########################################### [100%]
package popt-1.10.2-32 is already installed

I don't know what to do know.. I read somethings about forcing rpm --force but I'm afraid it will trigger another error... since this is a server I prefer not to play smart with it.

Ubuntu Multimedia :: Installing Cinelerra On 10.10?

Oct 25, 2010

I've installed Ubuntu 10.10 on my harddrive and want to install Cinelerra (CV). I'd followed the steps on there website, but it doesn't seem to work for me. Since they haven't upgraded there version to 10.10, you are stuck with all the old dependencies. I needed to install: libcinelerra. Searched it, but this libary needed libx264-85, which I cannot find in Synaptic. Probably because it is and 10.04 libary. I do have libx264-9x.

Debian Multimedia :: Installing Cinelerra On Squeeze (amd64)?

Apr 25, 2011

I think about editing and compressing some avi files and want to install cinelerra-cv. However there are some dependency problems it seems...

aptitude install cinelerra-cv cinelerra-doc cinelerra-cv-data

The following NEW packages will be installed:

cinelerra-cv cinelerra-cv-data cinelerra-doc libavcore0{a} libavutil50{a} libfaac0{a} libmjpegtools-1.9{a} libmp3lame0{a} libmpeg3-1{a} libmpeg3hv-1.5.0-1{a} libquicktime1{a} libquicktimehv-1.6.0-1{a} libva-x11-1{a} libva1{a} libx264-112{a} libxvidcore4{a} mpeg3-utils{a} ttf-bitstream-vera{a}

The following packages will be upgraded: libavcodec52 libpostproc51 libswscale0 3 packages upgraded, 18 newly installed, 0 to remove and 5 not upgraded. Need to get 16.5 MB of archives. After unpacking 31.5 MB will be used. The following packages have unmet dependencies: libavformat52: Depends: libavcodec52 (< 4:0.5.2-99) but 5:0.6.1+svn20101128-0.2 is to be installed. or  libavcodec-extra-52 (< 4:0.5.2-99) which is a virtual package. The following actions will resolve these dependencies:

[code]....

Normally I say yes and hope for good, but this time... I do not use adobe flash player, but I would still like to watch ..... videos. Would be hard without gnash, right? I use iron portable and iceweasel. Also I use totem a lot, but aptitude seems not being able to resolve this inconsistency automatically. My question is: what would happen, if I just say "y"? gnash is completly away? And is there any way to install newer version of gnash or do whatever to have everything working?

Ubuntu :: How To Resolve Third-party Ppa Packages Conflict

Aug 15, 2010

I need to install some packages, but it fails because I previously installed gnome-shell testing, and now have the ricotz ppa packages conflicting with the default packages. See error below.

Code:

libgtk2.0-dev:
Depends: libgtk2.0-0 (=2.20.1-0ubuntu2) but 2.20.1-0ubuntu3~10.04~ricotz2 is to be installed
Depends: libpango1.0-dev but it is not going to be installed
Depends: libatk1.0-dev but it is not going to be installed

How do I remove these packages and re-install the default ones, without risking damage to my system?

UPDATE: I have now tried to remove this packages using ppa-purge and the new ubuntu tweaks, but for the life of me I cannot get rid of them.

Ubuntu :: Creating A Movie: File Size - Cinelerra Doesn't Allow Me To Render To Mpeg

May 8, 2010

I have a two hours long home video with I edited in a video editor program. I'd like to burn it to DVD, but first I need to export it to an mpeg file. Cinelerra doesn't allow me to render to mpeg, instead it offers .avi or .dv - problem is that the resulting file size is enormous. (i.e. 1 minute of .avi = 1.2GB! or around 500MB when I output to .dv) What file format would be best to render to and at the same time not to get an insanely big file? I'd like to keep it under 1GB if possible.

Fedora :: Installing Unsigned Packages In F12?

Nov 27, 2009

I just installed F12 the other day and I've run into my first problem (this is not a knock, in fact this is probably the best release of Fedora 12 ever for me). Installing Skype from their website. I realise that I'm attempting to install an 1586 binary in x86-64 so it's risky, but that's not the point (yet anyway). I can't even get it to install. I've looked around and can't find anything meaningful on this (other than posts which provided no help). When I try to install the rpm from [URL] with the GUI, I get the message "This action cannot be completed" with the following under details: "The name org.freedesktop.PackageKit was not provided by any .service files". I then tried to install it from a root terminal and got the message, "Package skype-2.1.0.47-fc10.i586.rpm is not signed". Is there a way to change this behavior? And is there a temporary workaround (say, for just this app)? All in all, I love this release, but I cannot recommend Fedora 12 to someone new to Linux without alleviating this issue for them (I'm set to do this tomorrow). This would hamper their efforts to learn how to do basic things, such as installing a random program like Skype.

Fedora :: Installing Individual KDE Packages?

May 3, 2010

Just installed Fedora 12. After installing a new distro, I usually remove the individual programs that I have no use for or interest in. In Fedora, I've noticed that, for KDE at least, I can't remove just one program I have to remove the whole "group" of programs. For example, I might want only one game on my system and remove the rest but KPackageKit only allows to me to remove KDE Games (all of them) instead of just the programs I have no interest in. This is not the same as other distros I have tried. Is there a way around this?

Software :: Fedora 12 And 13 Packages Installed When Installing GNote And Inkscape On Fedora 14?

Dec 23, 2010

I recently upgraded from Fedora 13 to Fedora 14 and noticed something strange when I used Yum to install GNote and Inkscape. Yum installed the Fedora 14 version of the programs, but installed some dependencies that were actually from Fedora 12 and 13. The output below shows what packages were installed.

Yum output:

Package Arch Version Repository Size

[code].....

When I ran the yum command to list all of the packages for the dependencies in question, it only listed the version for Fedora 12 or 13. Is there something wrong with one of my repositories or do these Fedora 14 programs actually use packages from previous versions of Fedora?
