I am trying to install a program and it spews out an error about the .obj/matrix.o file.

The output is quoted here:

Code:

The program I was trying to install is a robot simulator which performs lots of matrix manipulation and linear system solving. I followed every step in the installation guide, except for this one:

On Ubuntu, all you need to do is install the following packages from the package manager:

libblas-dev
liblapack-dev

As shown above, I am using RHEL 6, which has different libraries with Ubuntu. I tried "yum search" and installed these libraries instead: lapack.x86_64 : Numerical linear algebra package libraries blas.x86_64 : The Basic Linear Algebra Subprograms library.

Fedora :: Error While Installing Wireless Driver Using Make In FC12

Mar 17, 2010

The relevant details of my setup are:
Samsung R522 laptop
Realtek RTL8192E wireless network controller (PCI)
Fedora 12, kernel 2.6.32.9-70.fc12.i686 (automatically updated using software update)

My problem is that my wireless card has never worked - basically there aren't any widely available linux drivers, and there are many threads on getting the RTL8192E to work on many different forums, e.g. here, but none specifically for Fedora, so I think that this thread could potentially guide many more users. FYI, my hardwired network connection works perfectly.

Fantastically however, by emailing Realtek support, they'll send you their Linux driver, which most people have claimed works perfectly (although why they haven't just put it on their website is beyond me). SO, I've got a Linux driver for my wireless card. When Realtek emailed me to send me the driver, they said to just 'cd' into the driver directory, then do

su
make clean
make
make install
reboot
./wlan0up or ./wlan1up

OK, so I tried to do this and get the following error:
make: *** /lib/modules/2.6.32.9-70.fc12.i686/build: No such file or directory. Stop.
make: *** [all] Error 2

I don't know enough about linux to understand this error. I really don't want to have to recompile my kernel, and I hope there is some way to install this driver with not too much hassle. How to overcome this error, and install my wireless driver so I can get wireless network access on my Fedora 12 operating system. I've found Fedora 12 really easy to use so far, but this is proving quite hard!

This is the output of 'ls -lh' in the folder which seems to be causing the error, namely /lib/modules/2.6.32.9-70.fc12.i686/

Hardware :: Installing Madwifi Kernel 2.6.35.8?

Dec 28, 2010

I know this has been asked in a previous post:[URL]...BUT, i am not using the package assistance module that was used in this case. Im running Backtrack 4 R2, with a PCMCIA Netgear WPN511 card on a 16gig USB flash drive (dell inspiron 2200, 256MB pc333 RAM, 70 gig HD - i know this sounds minimal but it is running great, and will stay minimalist). The current kernel version is 2.6.35.8.

I am having problems with any version of madwifi i download/guide i follow. And, because madwifi.org is down (as usual), im having a hard time finding current sources. I am aware that there is the atheros 9000 driver, but am clueless as to install that as well, and from what i've read, madwifi suits my needs better. Once again, i am new, so if this is also incorrect, i'd love to know why! Im rather unfamiliar with how kernels/headers interact with drivers, so feel free to low-ball replies.

Software :: Make - Building Project With Different Linker And Compiler?

Jun 7, 2011

I am trying to recompile a large open source project with the Nvidia Cuda Compiler: 'nvcc' [URL].. nvcc supports all the compile flags that gcc does but not all of the linking options. This shouldn't be a problem however as nvcc generates object files that are compatible with gcc and I should hence be able to compile with nvcc and then link with gcc (linking against the CUDA library).

To compile with nvcc I use:
./configure CC=nvcc

Which successfully creates make files that se nvcc to compile. But the Configuration script does not seem to honor LD=gcc in the same way, ie: ./configure CC=nvcc LD=gcc still tries to link everything with nvcc which promptly fails because nvcc does not support the option '-soname' without which the project will not link correctly. What am I doing wrong? How can tell the config script to link with gcc?

Fedora Installation :: Installing 32-bit Support Into 64-bit / Not Found' And 'error While Loading Shared Libraries?

Dec 1, 2009

Trying to launch Second Life gives the following error message:

You are running the Second Life Viewer on a x86_64 platform. The most common problems when launching the Viewer (particularly 'bin/do-not-directly-run-secondlife-bin: not found' and 'error while loading shared libraries') may be solved by installing your Linux

This problem was easily found using search with solutions for Fedora 11.

The following information has been found for adding the 32 bit support to Fedora 11 but it does not work in Fedora 12.

The file created in the instructions below is a list of the 32 bit libraries. It is then called as input to yum to simply install them.

"Add the Libraries Next, add the 32-bit libraries by copying the following list, and pasting it into a text file. Save it as Fedora-ia32.txt."

Another post says that was all unnecessary as the following commands would do the same thing.

Could have simply been achieved by calling:$ yum install SDL.i586...(Or by selecting SDL.i586 in add/remove programs.)

The problem I have with Fedora 12 are neither of these will install anything in Fedora 12. Looking at add/remove programs does not yield anthing that looks like it is 32 bit support when searching with the argument "SDL".

Does anyone know how to install 32 bit support into Fedora 12 64 bit version ? I like the simple yum expression rather than long lists like the first example uses, but I'll try anything if it works.

A side question to this entire experiment is what chance would you give to Second Life being able to be run remotely using VNC? I would think if it runes on the Linux machine, using a remote terminal would have little impact. Using VNC isn't the usual way this will be run, I just wonder if it would work at all.

CentOS 5 Networking :: Cannot Complete Installation Of MadWiFi 0.9.4 For WG311T

Jan 11, 2010

I'm trying to install a Netgear WG311T V1H1, rev A3, Atheros AR2414 mac 0x79m phy0x45 on Centos 2.6.18-128.el5. Two methods are offered. The distribution comes with Madwifi's latest driver, ath5K, but it is not supported for this card and is unstable. It will connect but has variable data rates and will drop out with long downloads. My research indicates that the madwifi 0.9.4 driver should support this card. Both methods call for blacklisting ath5k, which I did.

1. Following Centos directions, [URL], I installed the configured RPM Forge and did yum install madwifi, which was successful. The command modprobe ath_pci produces the error "module ath_pci not found." It appears that the RPMForge download did not install these needed bits. So my fundamental question is where is the ath_pci? It is not on the machine.

2. Following the Madwifi directions, I did yum install gcc make perl, which was successful. Their next step, the 'make' command, yielded the KERNELPATH error described on their page [URL]. It points to /lib/modules/2.6.18-128.el5/build, but 'build' is a path, not a file or directory. Installing kernel-devel to get the build files on the system was suggested by another web page, and I did it with yum install kernel-devel, and it was successful, but did not change the error. The literature says I can redirect the make command to the correct spot, but there does not seem to be a correct spot.

OpenSUSE Network :: Installing Driver Error - No Rule To Make Target `modules' - Stop

Apr 13, 2011

I am relatively new to linux and am running into a problem. I just got a new laptop and need to configure/install it's wireless driver but am getting an error when running "make". The error is: make[1]: Entering directory `/lib/modules/2.6.37.1-1.2-desktop/build' make[1]: *** No rule to make target `modules'. Stop.

I have scoured these forums and know that others have the same issue (when configuring other drivers/programs). I am sorry if this post is redundant. It sounds like the Makefile is pointing to the wrong directory. I am using opensuse 11.4, have make and gcc installed. My kernel is linux-2.6.37.1-1.2 (I just re-installed the desktop kernel to make sure it was up to date). The driver I am trying to install is located here: AUR (en) - rtl8192ce.

Another forum suggests pointing somewhere in the /usr/src/linux-2.6.37.1-1.2 directory instead. Is this correct? Should I be pointing to a folder within this? I am not a programmer but any description about what I am actually putting in this directory and why would be awesome (so I can learn a bit more). Or just helping me solve the problem would be great too.
