Jul 20, 2011
I tried to install ffmpeg on 7.04(Fiesty Fawn). when i ran ./configure from terminal window, i got error regarding c compiler that unable to make executable file.
I have 4 partitions in my system, out of which two(sda1, sda2) have windows on them. I have installed RHEL 4 32 - bit on sda3 and after that , installed installed RHEL 64-bit on to a partition sda 5. Now i am unable to boot into RHEL 32-bit. The error i am getting is Error 13: Invalid or unsupported executable format.
It so happens that some files that I am trying to make executable by chmod +x <filename> or otherwise are not becoming executables, rather the tick mark on the option is removed the very instant I put it on . Is there any thread of virus or any other reason for this.
I downloaded eclipse from the eclipse site..i had to make the main eclipse file executable..but i cant do that..when i click on "Allow executing file as program"..the tick disappears in a second..
I have downloaded the file "bitnami-wordpress-3.0-0-linux-installer.bin", it's a Wordpress stack, with PHP and apache and whatnot.. I am asked to make it executable using "chmod a+x <installer file>"what do i do? cd to where it is, and "chmod a+x <bitnami-wordpress-3.0-0-linux-installer.bin>"?and if yes, i just double click on it afterat to run the installation?
I have created a file named as pm under the path /home/ppp/ i.e. /home/ppp/pmTo make it executable, I've used command: chmod a+x /home/ppp/pm while residing in root directory. But while trying to run from root by typing ./pm or within the directory /home/ppp, it was displaying that directory not found. Please help by providing the step by step procedure, so that I would be able to run my file from root or from the directory.
I downloaded linphone 3.30 using mozila and tried installing. while giving the command ./configure it was successful and next giving the command make gives me a error message make file is not found. but makefile.am and makefile.in is already available in the current working directory.
I have given the link of the pastebin for ./configure command and make command..
Morning all , not sure how to put this. I have a .sh executable script I use for video encoding. I want the system to be able to see it no matter where in which folder I am. I want to be able to execute that script in terminal in any folder. How can I make it part of the system path. ? Don't know if my wording is right but I think you guys know what I mean.
I tried to run Mupen64 on Fedora 14 and SELinux gave me a message (see title of thread). It sounded like a serious problem. Do I have a corrupted version, is it nothing to worry about?
I downloaded Java from the Java website, and went into the root to try and make it an executable file, and it says "chmod: cannot access `home/Non-Admin/Downloads/jre-6u25-linux-i586-rpm.bin': No such file or directory". Is there some sort of program I can install that will automatically turn the rpm.bin/.bin into an executable file?
I am running a server which is hosting a site where members can upload videoclips. I noticed that upon upload a thumbnail is not created for the videoclip. I found out that ffmpeg needed to be properly installed and in my case ffmpeg-php as the site runs on php. So far so good. I followed the instructions found somewhere to install ffmpeg-php but stall at the command: dot slash configure && make The error I get is:
checking for egrep... grep -E checking for a sed that does not truncate output... slash slash bin slash sed checking for gcc... no checking for cc... no checking for cc... no checking for cl... no configure: error: no acceptable C compiler found in $PATH
I presume it's because gcc is missing. how I can start tackling the problem and ultimately get gcc running so I can install the ffmpeg? I am really sorry I was hoping to elaborate a bit more but I get an error: You are only allowed to post URLs to other sites after you have made 15 posts or more. so I guess I need to wait and describe it differently.
I am trying to install Ubunto 9.10 on my windows XP. I try to run it from the live cd. but every time i try to do this.. I get an error "Unable to find a medium containging live file system" I tried it from different cds too... so it's not an error in the cd.
I hope this post stands in the right section.I have a commandline i need to enter in terminal when i want to run a program. i tought lets put that piece of command in an .sh file and just click the file to run the program (then i dont need to open terminal first an give in the command) however the .sh file does not open the program. so i propably need to make a executable (application/x-executable).
I am trying to run a file called MFSTOOL from mfstools.sourceforge.net
It its a program for backing up tivo images
when i drop into a shell account and go to the dir of the program then type mfstool I get -bash: mfstool: command not found
now if I run it by typing ./mfstool
it will give me a list of options and switches for the program, but if i try to use the options and switches with ./mfstools it will just give me the switches and options again IE Typed as ./mfstool backup -6 -o /tivofiles/images/sddvr40/3510/tivo.bak /dev/hdc/
I know the program works as I can boot with a live cd mount my /dev/hda1 and store files to the images dir, i think i am missing something in a config file to let this program run.
I'm new to Linux world. I'm using Ubuntu 9.04. I'm unable to go online using Ubuntu because I'm unable to run an executable client application provided by my ISP. I called them and they are not able to help me instlling this client applicatoin for me on my Ubuntu. "I cannot go online untill I install this ISP client application on my Ubuntu." I'm entering my ISPs weblink in this blogpost so that it would be easy for you guys to help me resolving this issue. http://www.spacenetindia.net/download.php This is the weblink where I downloaded that ISP client application from. I clicked on this link and clicked on 24online clients.exe tab located on the left and downloaded linuxclient.gz. Please help me if you find any resolution for this issue. Though I tried downloading Wine but I could not as I cannot go onlnie in Ubuntu. In windows I don't know how to install wine to make it work offline in ubuntu.b
It returns an error dealing just with the h264 codec saying that I need to use a vpre parameter? I can't find any documentation on using the vpre parameter.
I am running into a snag on .exe files in Lucid. I have Wine installed, but I can not open the file as it is blocked from executing with a window popping up telling me that this file was blocked due to security reasons. I go into the files properties and try to change the permission but that does not help. Is there a way to get around this? Possibly in the terminal as root?
I have a weird problem with one of my servers (normal PC hardware). I was connected remotely using Putty, doing some stuff, and all of the sudden some commands, like "ls" stopped working, giving a "file or command not found" type of message. I restarted the ssh session, only to find out I couldn't log on any more (access denied). When I got home and rebooted the system, I was greeted with this:Booting 'CentOS (2.6.18-194.el5xen)'root (hd0,0)Filesystem type is ext2fs, partition type 0x83kernel /boot/xen.gz-2.6. 18-194.el5Error 15: File not foundPress any key to continue...Then I searched about this, found out that the files in /boot/grub/menu.lst did not exist at the specified location (/boot/xen.gz-2.6. 18-194.el5). Somehow I managed to find them in another place, copied them in place, and now I get:Error 13: Invalid or unsupported executable format
I'm trying to get Eclipse IDE running on my openSUSE 11.4 (KDE).
I have downloaded Eclipse Classic from Eclipse Classic 3.7 | Eclipse Packages. I started Dolphin and extracted the tar.gz file to a directory called eclipse. Now, as I understand, to run Eclipse, I must run the executable eclipse. But when I double-click eclipse, I get an error saying, "There is no application installed that can open files of the type executable (application/x-executable)."
Note 1: I have uploaded 3 screenshots as an album at Imgur: Eclipse with image titles and captions.
According to the screenshot #1, the file eclipse has a permission set of -rw-------. The execute permission is missing on this file. So, here's what I did: (screenshot #2) Right-clicked and selected Properties and under the Permissions tab, checked the Is executable checkbox and clicked OK. But still (screenshot #3), the permission set remains the same.
Note 2: The parent directory permissions are visible in the Terminal window below in all the screenshots.
I was trying to install a couple of the sun packages to have and after the install I get the follow error. Xsession: unable to start X session--- no "/home/username/.xsession" file, no "/home/username/.xsession" file, no session managers, no window managers, and no terminal emulators found; aborting. I am now not able to log into the system at all....Can someone tell me what I've done wrong? How can a repair this?
I've been trying to install the latest version of Emacs from source but I'm running into a trouble. The commands "./configure" and "make" work just fine. However, when I run "sudo checkinstall" I get a message saying that makeinfo is missing:
Code: makeinfo is missing - cannot build manuals make: *** [info] Error 1 **** Installation failed. Aborting package creation. Cleaning up...OK Bye. What is Error 1
I'm trying to install vnstat on my Slackware box, but it fails while compiling.here:
