I just reinstalled fedora and I cant run any movie now, I tried to install MPlayer, vlc, xine for 1 hr but dint work, no yum is found I don't know what's going on, vlc never worked for me I never got it but I never had problem installing mplayer

No package mplayer-gui available. No package mplayer-skins available. No package mplayer-fonts available. No package gecko-mediaplayer available. Nothing to do
This is what I am getting same for vlc. I even tried yum -y install mplayer and very sort of thing but the above command worked for me previous time I don't know what's going on this time.
I recently decided that I want to install mplayer on fedora 13. Problem is, everytime I try, a new problem arises. I've tried add/remove software, and it said "package download failed, check internet connection" which doesn't make sense because I'm connected to the internet and my connection is fine. So, then I tried yum install mplayer, that gave me an error.
tell me the terminal commands to install these pakage i have extracted ....gnome-do-0.8.3.1.tar.gz ,,,it extracted into several files.what to do now with that files and also what does the extension (.bundle,.deb )mean how do i install them.
I think I've installed mplayer from svn and now I'm getting that annoying "broken package" pop-up. Is any way how to make Ubuntu to ignore this package? I've tried it to solve it by following:
Code: user@mymachine:~$ sudo apt-get install -f [sudo] password for jan: Reading package lists... Done Building dependency tree
I'm new to this system and trying to install plug-ins but I always seem to get some sort of rejection..
[root@localhost haley]# yum install vlc Loaded plugins: langpacks, presto, refresh-packagekit [Errno 14] curl#6 - "Couldn't resolve host" Trying other mirror. Could not retrieve mirrorlist...^... error was 14: curl#6 - "Couldn't resolve host" .....
Error: Cannot retrieve repository metadata (repomd.xml) for repository: rpmfusion-nonfree. Please verify its path and try again [root@localhost haley]#
So then I checked to see if I had rpmfusion-nonfree, and I do. I really have no idea what to do, I have spent hours trying to get this work. I want to be able to open any media file, avi, wma, mp4, etc.'m using Fedora 15.
I'm trying to install mplayer(=DVD-player) on my system. In fact it means compiling from source code. But I don't know how to compile from source code (Don't know the exact commands).
[root@zhuhaiping MPlayer-1.0rc2]#./configure --prefix=/opt/mplayer --enable-gui --enable-freetype --codecsdir=/opt/mplayer/codecs --win32codecsdir=/opt/mplayer/wincodecs/ --language=zh_CN it's ok ,but when I configure like this
[code]....
But when I make there comes this problem which as follows ;
vo_ivtv.c: In function 'ivtv_reset': vo_ivtv.c:79: error: storage size of 'sd' isn't known vo_ivtv.c:80: error: storage size of 'sd1' isn't known

In the first case, clicking on the search option, error occurs (probably because of the proxy I am working behind) I can use yum install though behing the proxy. How can install these codecs from the command line ?
where I can find a package for mplayer with dvdnav support enabled?
I was disappointed to discover that in 10.04 dvdnav support was disabled in mplayer. I rely on it for my mythtv front end box to be able to play DVDs. According to a bug it was disabled because of an upstream email chain where dvdnav was considered 'experimental' and 'not ready for production use'. Funny as it worked fine for me.
Post #6 here is where I found the above reasoning for it being disabled.
I'm not sure if I'm posting in the right section. But when i start the Package Updater it get's a (Error resolving dependencies). The Details in the error are: Missing Dependency: liblzo.so.1 is needed by package mplayer Missing Dependency: libdvdread.so.3 is needed by package lsdvd Missing Dependency: libcucul.so.0 is needed by package mplayer Missing Dependency: libdvdread.so.3 is needed by package gstreamer-plugins-ugly
What do i do? I'm thinking i have to get and install/download these package's but cant find them tried regular searching the web and using Yum. Cant find any of them to install to fix this issue.
Sometimes i have on some magazines or Internet Zip packages that are the answer of what i am looking for.
Wich tool and how can i do it? c Well, i am in position to say that i had downloaded from Internet or located the package in the Cd or DVD that comes with the magazine.
But now comes the big question. How can i put this package ( install) on my distro ???
Do i have to be a normal user or should it be root or su (superuser) ?
The packages that come with the distro is easy, because i select them and everything is done
As i told before, maybe this is a silly question, but i simple don't know how to install them and i need some of them to leave MS for good.
i accidentally pulled the power while an upgrade was going on. I felt bad, so went to do "yum-complete-transaction" only it was going to remove my entire system. Bad idea. So, instead, I tried to do yum update on my own. Well, it says that i need a package (glib2-some version-already-installed) to upgrade the glib2-devel package. The problem is that the version needed is already installed. I tried getting yum to reinstall it, but that didn't fix anything. Mainly because it says that is installed and not available. So the final error is "no package matched to install." I know that this probably looks weird and disjointed, so I am happy to provide info to try and get this fixed.
where i can find drivers for my pc.. and i want to install many application -- everyone said that i should use "PACKAGE MANAGER",i dont know how to use it.
I was trying to play some mp3s and mp4s in my totem but keep on getting this error report of which I have attached some screenshots. I also tried to download some things that I usually put on my system such as: vlc, ffmpeg, dvdbackup, dvdrip, audacity, thoggen, handbrake, audacious & sound converter but I fail in the process.
Here are my outputs: Code: [root@localhost ~]# yum install ffmpeg libdvdcss libdvdread libdvdnav libdvdplay lsdvd mplayer gxine Loaded plugins: refresh-packagekit google-chrome | 951 B 00:00 google-chrome/primary | 1.4 kB 00:00 google-chrome 3/3 Setting up Install Process No package ffmpeg available.
