View 1 RepliesI went through several posts for making the Toshiba wireless working. None of them seemed to work. The Fn+F8 key is also not working, as with many other ppl here is output for sudo lshw -C network
Code:
neeraj@ubuntu:~$ sudo lshw -C network

I tried to install Ubuntu on a Toshiba laptop today. When I tried booting with Lynx, threw out a bunch of errors about kernel threads. When I tried Karmic, it would only boot with Safe Graphics (everything else hangs the system), but nothing is ever displayed. I hear the Ubuntu start-up sound but the display stays blank. Does anyone have any advice on installing Ubuntu on this system?

I just bought a Toshiba Satellite L650-BT2N23 laptop (i3-core, 4GB RAM) and have Fedora 14 installed on it along with Windows7 64 bit. I am having a hard time getting linux to detect the battery, even when I am running on battery power.
The battery appears as not present and the power management applet always indicates that the laptop is running on AC.
I tried setting acpi=on and acpi=force in grub.conf, but dint make any difference.
Code:
$ uname -a
Linux Eikoh4002 2.6.35.6-45.fc14.x86_64 #1 SMP Mon Oct 18 23:57:44 UTC 2010 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux
Code:
$ cat /proc/acpi/battery/BAT1/state
present: no

I recently bought a Toshiba Satellite L650-BT2N23 laptop (i3-core, 4GB RAM) and have Fedora 14 (kernel 2.6.35.6-45.fc14.x86_64) installed on it along with Windows7 64 bit. I am having a hard time getting linux o detect the battery, even when the laptop is running on battery power. The battery appears as not present and the power management applet always indicates that the laptop is running on AC. Setting acpi=on or acpi=force did not remedy the problem, neither did disabling acpi altogether (acpi=off). I have 'Insyde H2O BIOS' version 1.70, which appears to support acpi.

I am trying to install Realtek RTL8192E wireless drivers for Toshiba satellite 510 in Fedora 14 KDE SPIN. I have been searching it for long time. I am not getting any tutorials or any methids to get this sorted.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI just installed Fedora 14 i386, and Fedora can see the wireless network just fine. I try to connect and nothing happens. It asks for the PSK constantly (yes, I promise I'm entering it correctly), even after I enter it correctly (I guarantee). I've searched around here a bit, but due to my limited knowledge in linux system I can't figure it out

I have just installed the last FC distro, and everything works good, except the wireless network.I have a Linksys N-Ultra WirelessN USB wifi card, model WUSB600N.It uses the rt2x00 driver, concretely the rt2870 driver (at least, thats the driver included in the original device drivers CD).Right now, the problem is that i don't know how to make my Fedora 12 to enable and/or connect to internet.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI have just installed Fedora 14 on my desktop machine and have just discovered that it can't detect my WiFi card. The card is an Edimax EW-7711In which the makers say will run with Linux. I know that the card works fine with Ubuntu because my brother uses the same card in his Ubuntu machine but he is away until after Christmas so I don't know what he did to make it work other than I know he used ndiswrapper and the Windows drivers that were supplied with the card. I have looked for ndiswrapper in the Fedora repositories but it doesn't appear to be there.
View 14 Replies View RelatedI've recently salvaged a computer I found gathering dust in the basement and decided I'll have it running on Fedora (I have a summer studentship coming up that needs Linux use so I thought I'd best start learning!). Following a clean install, Fedora can see the wireless network just fine. I try to connect and nothing happens. Half of the time it will ask for the PSK (yes, I promise I'm entering it correctly) and the other half of the time it will just stop. When it does ask for the PSK I enter it (correctly) and it will ask me again... and again.

I've spent the past 2 days attempting to get the sound working on a Toshiba A75 notebook. Here is what i've tried so far:
remove/purge alsa and pulse audio then reinstall
set up/configure OSS
download and compile latest alsa drivers. code...
My questions are: is there anyone using this laptop on Lucid with sound? Can anyone provide a new idea how to make this work if it is compatible hardware.

View 9 Replies View RelatedI'm using Ubuntu 10.04 - 64bit install with an A215. The wifi was working fine until today. Ubuntu seems to detect the hardware, and it shows the interface as being 'up', however no networks show up in either the network manager or 'sudo iwlist scan'. I'm not sure if it's a driver issue, or if the hardware itself died.Here is the output of lspci:

I am connecting to the same I do on Windows 7(yes dual boot).It asks for WEP, I put it and says Connection Established. But, when I open up Firefox to navigate to Google, it waits for 20 seconds and after that it pops an error that it couldn't establish a connection.

View 10 Replies View RelatedI'm was trying to choose between GNOME and KDE for version 8. However both the live DVD's fail to pick up the Wifi card on my system. I am also unable to use certain basic commands such as ifconfig on the live CD. I am completely new to Linux and Debian (of course). Pardon me for the hand holding. This will be my first install of a Linux system.
What steps I can take to ensure that the Wifi card and the network card will be supported - hardware compatibility test maybe? Is there a way to try before installing? This will be a dualboot with Windows 8.1

I'm having a problem with my wifi card: it is not detected by the network manager. I have tried going to the Hardware Drivers utility, but it doesn't find any proprietary hardware.I really am at a loss as to how to make Lucid "start over" with the wifi detection.I have installed Lucid using an existing /home, which was under 8.10. Maybe i just need to wipe out some configuration files to start afresh?

At least, my network applet shows no network adapter. I have to unplug and plug it back in on another USB port to get detected. Then, my network dmon automatically connects to my wifi network.

I have a problem with my BROADCOM BCM4311 802.11b/g WLAN... I made a clean installation of Maverick Meerkat and everything runs perfect except the card drivers... then I investigated almost a week on the net and finally the problem was solved (I made the installation of some drivers on Synaptics tool, then I wrote some codes on the Terminal to activate the light to turn it blue and the Wi-Fi IS ON AND WORKS!).
I thought everything was ok, but when I restarted the laptop, the wifi conections aren't able to be detected so I must re-install the card driver to get it active again :S. I really don't know why the card drivers works only when I install them, because restarting the system make them simply don't work.
I read something about changing my user's state (it was 'personalized') to 'administrator', but nothing happened.I searched on Ubuntu's web but nothing works.It's a Compaq Presario V3000.
