Feb 19, 2010I face in getting my wireless connection work. I am able to establish connection with my router and browse router configuration pages successfully. However, trying to access any other internet address (through browser or ping etc) results in intolerable poor performance (70% to 100% packet loss in ping). Ethernet connection (eth0) works perfectly though. Am furnishing the details below:

It asks for the PSK constantly (yes, I promise I'm entering it correctly), even after I enter it correctly (I guarantee). In System-->Administration-->Additional Drivers I've enabled the 'Broadcom STA wireless driver' and its noted as 'This driver is activated and currently in use.' Changes I made
- I've activated the Nvidia driver.
- I've installed Boxee (media center)
- I'm using CPU frequency scalers for both my cores.
- I've updated my system and am using maverick-security, -updates and -proposed.
- I've installed b43-fwcutter
- I've installed firmware-b43-lpphy-installer
Other than those adjustments the system is completely fresh. When I suspend or hibernate and activate my laptop again it only shows a backlight-lit black screen and does not continue restoring. Other than the occasional flash my cpu 'business' indicator led does nothing. BUT The wireless led is now on. I've tried the Broadcom B43 driver as you could've guessed from the changes I made, no result. I had to use the 'lpphy' installer(for BCM4312 (with Low-Power aka LP-PHY)), the 'legacy' and normal version both gave an error upon executing the post installation script.

Jan 21, 2010I have just installed the last FC distro, and everything works good, except the wireless network.I have a Linksys N-Ultra WirelessN USB wifi card, model WUSB600N.It uses the rt2x00 driver, concretely the rt2870 driver (at least, thats the driver included in the original device drivers CD).Right now, the problem is that i don't know how to make my Fedora 12 to enable and/or connect to internet.

Fedora Networking :: WiFi Card Not Detected In New Installation Of 14?
Dec 17, 2010I have just installed Fedora 14 on my desktop machine and have just discovered that it can't detect my WiFi card. The card is an Edimax EW-7711In which the makers say will run with Linux. I know that the card works fine with Ubuntu because my brother uses the same card in his Ubuntu machine but he is away until after Christmas so I don't know what he did to make it work other than I know he used ndiswrapper and the Windows drivers that were supplied with the card. I have looked for ndiswrapper in the Fedora repositories but it doesn't appear to be there.

Sep 7, 2010I've recently salvaged a computer I found gathering dust in the basement and decided I'll have it running on Fedora (I have a summer studentship coming up that needs Linux use so I thought I'd best start learning!). Following a clean install, Fedora can see the wireless network just fine. I try to connect and nothing happens. Half of the time it will ask for the PSK (yes, I promise I'm entering it correctly) and the other half of the time it will just stop. When it does ask for the PSK I enter it (correctly) and it will ask me again... and again.

Jul 28, 2010I've just installed Ubuntu on 2 computers, and I'm new to it. However I'm not new to computers. The problem I'm currently running into on one of the computers is that the wireless will not detect any connections, despite there being many. The computer is a HP Compaq v6203AU using the wireless card Broadcom BCM4312 [14e4:4312]. I've went through dozens of walkthroughs, encountering errors in every single one of them, I've spent 8 hours on this one problem and extremely frustrated. It seem to be a problem with the driver that comes as default, and I'm lost at what to do.
The terminal command "lspci -nn | grep 14e4" returns the following:

Fedora Networking :: Modem ZTE MF636 Not Longer Detected In F12 / Get It To Work?
Mar 25, 2010I have a ZTE HSUPA USB Modem Model:MF636 which used to work great and then is not longer detected.
I am using Fedora 12 and was having problems with the modem not been properly detected and filed a bug, which turned not to be a problem of NetworkManager, but an issue with udev.

I followed instructions to edit /lib/udev/rules.d/61-option-modem-modeswitch.rules and then it worked fine.
Now the modem is again not properly detected. Here is a copy of the results from dmesg code...
I have tried restoring the file that I edited. It was back to the stated previusly reported. I also have tried to run an older kernel. Then I updated to the latest kernel available for Fedora 12. Nothing seems to work.

Dec 25, 2010I ran yum broadcom-wl and installed the driver for my card no problem. I connected to the internet just fine using my wifi thereafter.
When I shut my laptop down and booted sometime later, the wireless connection was gone and I didn't even see a wireless adapter in the networking applet.
I tried to run insmod wl and insmod wl.ko and that failed.
So... after using yum to install the broadcom drivers, how can I make that install 'permanent'; so I don't lose my wireless adapter each time I reboot?

Aug 18, 2010I have some serious trouble getting the Wireless connection working, using Fedora 13 on a Dell XPS M1710 laptop which has an Intel Pro Wireless 3945 ABG adapter. I have previously tried an earlier version of Fedora I think it was version 10, where it worked flawlessly out of the box, but all versions since then, simply wont work properly. I got the Fedora 12 64 bit working at some stage, after using hours and hours trying to get it working, and suddenly it did. Don't know what suddenly made it work, since I haven't made any new changes, just re-checked the old ones. But I needed to use Skype which is only in 32 bit, so I had to reinstall to a 32 bit version, and then couldn't get it working again.
I can get it to work with any Windows version, no problems. I have also tried with PCBSD version 7.x, 8.0 and today I tried the new 8.1 just to see if that worked to, an no problemos, it works perfectly out of the box, I could set it up in 5 minutes, even though I don't have any previous knowledge of PCBSD, other than a few short trial installs.
It has to be said that I am a newbee to any Unix/Linux, so I don't know how to troubleshoot properly, and have only tried a few things which I have picked up from other forums. But unfortunately nothing seems to work. The first thing I did after a clean install was I looked in the Fedora 13 documentation, that says I should check that the NetworkManager is controling the interface, I tried to start up NetworkManager but nothing happens, no reaction what so ever. I tried rebooting and then restarting NetworkManager, but no matter what I try, I won't work, not even if I am using the root account.
I noticed right after the install, that there was a choice of connecting to a hidden network in the lower right corner of the screen, but while I have been trying to get the NetworkManager to work, it has suddenly disappeared (I have disabled SSID broadcast on my Linksys router. I've tried to run lsmod and it seems like the right firmware is running, I think it was called IWL3945 or something like that. I think there were around 3 such modules running, plus a Dell module.
Another important note, before I even touched the the WIFI, I connected to the Internet via my normal fixed LAN connection, and installed all the updates that were available and rebooted the system. I am using an LinkSys WAG354G V2 ADSL router, where I have disabled SSID broadcast. Is there a kind soul out there, who has a good idea of what the problem is, or a good idea of how to troubleshoot it ? since a laptop without a WIFI connection is not of much use to me.

Jan 3, 2011I have a problem with my BROADCOM BCM4311 802.11b/g WLAN... I made a clean installation of Maverick Meerkat and everything runs perfect except the card drivers... then I investigated almost a week on the net and finally the problem was solved (I made the installation of some drivers on Synaptics tool, then I wrote some codes on the Terminal to activate the light to turn it blue and the Wi-Fi IS ON AND WORKS!).
I thought everything was ok, but when I restarted the laptop, the wifi conections aren't able to be detected so I must re-install the card driver to get it active again :S. I really don't know why the card drivers works only when I install them, because restarting the system make them simply don't work.
I read something about changing my user's state (it was 'personalized') to 'administrator', but nothing happened.I searched on Ubuntu's web but nothing works.It's a Compaq Presario V3000.

Mar 3, 2010The auto connect feature of NetworkManager Applet (version 0.7.997) isn't working on my system. If the WiFi connection dies, Network Manager doesn't detect that the connection has been lost and try to reestablish the connection. I have to manually click on the WiFi hotspot to reestablish the connection. This appears to be the case both while the computer is running and when I first boot it up (i.e. when booting, if the first attempt at establishing a WiFi connection doesn't succeed, Network Manager doesn't retry or try another hotspot).Is this "normal" behavior for Network Manager? If not, does anyone know a fix? Here's some more info about my system:

Even tried to blacklist b43 after installing broadcom-wl driver, but no luck. Broadcom-wl works fine with Fedora 10 on my laptop, is it possibly because of the new ext4 file system? Should I try ndiswrapper or install Fedora 10 again and do a preupgrade? I also use fedora at work.
Fedora Networking :: Cannot Get BCM4312 Wireless Card Working
Apr 9, 2010I recently purchased an Acer eMachines E525 laptop, and currently have it dual booting Windows 7 and Fedora 12 x86_64 with the 2.6.31.5-127 kernel. I've been completely unable to get the wireless card working in Fedora (it works fine in windows).
lspci lists the following about the wireless card:

so I assume it's a BCM4312.
So far I have tried downloading the driver from [URL] and then trying to install it according to the accompanying readme file: [URL]. However, when I try to make the driver, I get the following message:

The Readme says that if I get this kind of error, I need to install the "kernel-devel" package, but I have this installed and it still returns the same error.
I have also tried following the fw-cutter instructions for fedora from [URL], but it still doesn't work. I realise there's the option of using ndiswrapper, but I gave that a shot with Fedora 11 on the same machine and had no luck, and I'd really like to see whether any of the other options work before going down that route.

Jun 20, 2009I'm having trouble getting my wifi devices to work on my 128bit WEP network. I have a new Thinkpad T400, with an internal Intel PRO/Wireless 5100 AGN. I also have some cardbus cards: a Lucent ORiNOCO Gold, a Linksys Wireless-G, and a TRENDnet TEW-421PC. I have them set up as interfaces eth2, eth1, and eth3. (The TRENDnet isn't recognised as a network card at all, so no interface for it.) I have installed the latest firmware for the Linksys card.
The /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-* files are virtually identical for all of them, differing only in the HWADDR and DEVICE lines. So here's the behaviour:
1. The Lucent card comes up just fine.
2. The internal 5100AGN and the Linksys cards won't come up, and watching with iwconfig shows that they're either associated with my AP OR they've got an encryption key set -- but not both.
3. When trying to bring up the 5100AGN, I get the following messages:
iwlagn: index 0 not used in uCode key table
iwlagn: index 3 not used in uCode key table
/var/log/messages shows DHCPDISCOVER requests being sent, but they're bound to fail since the association with the AP with WEP isn't being completed. And yes, the ifcfg-* files really *are* identical except for the DEVICE and HWADDR lines. The /etc/udev/rules.d/70-persistent-net.rules file correctly maps the interfaces to the MAC addresses. So why does my antique ORiNOCO card work and thew newer ones fail? How can I track down what's being done wrong/not being done?

Jul 4, 2010I've installed F13 on two Dell E6400 laptops, both with Broadcom BCM4312 wireless cards. After updating them both, I enabled the RPMFusion repos and installed the akmod-ed wireless driver on each (following these instructions: [URL] Wireless works perfectly on one laptop, but doesn't seem to be working on the other. The wl module is activated (shows up in lsmod) and the wireless card is enabled (wlan0 shows up in ifconfig), but Network Manager isn't showing any available networks. For the record, wireless works on both laptops with Ubuntu 9.10 I am going to try cloning the entire drive on the working laptop and sticking it on the dud one.
