Fedora :: FireFox About:config \ When Type Something In The Address Bar That Is Not A Url?

Feb 6, 2011

I would like to set my FireFox up so that when I type something in the address bar that is not a url, it will automatically do a google search. I have done this before, but that was a while ago and I can't remember what settings to change in about:config.Currently, when I type something that is not a url, it performs a search and then automatically opens the first web page that it finds, like a "I'm feeling lucky" search. I just want to see a google list.

Fedora :: (EE) NOUVEAU(0): 1432: No Valid FB Address In PCI Config Space

Sep 15, 2009

I have a problem with 32Bit Fedora. I have it installed on my desktop pc, and it works, but in my laptop it doesn't. On my laptop, I have 64Bit, but wanted to reinstall and use 32Bit instead. Whenever I try to install 32Bit, the loading bar finishes, then the screen goes black, and enters the terminal, blinking rapidly, spamming mtrr 3 not used. I've tried a few things to fix this, but I haven't had any luck.

I have another similar problem with 32Bit on my desktop. It is working right now, but yesterday I installed a NVidia driver, and the mtrr 3 error occurred, forcing me to reinstall, without the NVidia driver.

EDIT: I tried

X -configure

Then i ran

X -config /boot/xorg.conf.new

The errors that show up are these:

Quote:

(EE) NOUVEAU(0): [drm] error creating device, setting NoAccel
(EE) NOUVEAU(0): 1432: No valid FB address in PCI config space
(EE) Screen(s) found, but none have a usable configuration

Fatal server error:

no screens found
mtrr: MTRR 3 not used

Fedora :: JRE Using Sun's JRE And Config Firefox Plugin?

I am using Fedora 14 i386 and I am trying to configure Mozilla Firefox 3.6.15 to work with the JRE plugin. I have tried sever tutorials of this type (some slightly different) [URL]. However, I cannot get firefox to recognize the plugin. When I used the tutorial above I was also getting SELinux AVC denial warnings. If not clearly stated above, I downloaded the JRE directly from Oracle. I need to use the version from Oracle/Sun because the VPN client I have to use (from Juniper Networks) will not work with gcj or the openjdk provided from the default yum repositories.

Some FreeNX start-up troubles here, need a hand. 1) I am trying to establish a connection from my workplace PC on my workplaces's LAN to my home PC on my private LAN (LAN-to-LAN). Just typing in the public IP of the target LAN in the "Host" field gets me nowhere, as it fails to connect due to a denial at port 22 SSH - even though I've done the forwarding in my home router and punched the required hole in the local firewall of the target machine.

This resembles what I'm looking at: [URL]..2) My home PC is 64-bit Mepis and my workmachine is a 32-bit Ubuntu. Is this a problem?

General :: Use Firefox To Connect To Smb Shares Error "Firefox Doesn't Know How To Open This Address, Because The Protocol (smb) Isn't Associated With Any Program"

Jan 10, 2010

i am wanting to use Firefox to connect to my smb shares. However, i keep getting this error message: Firefox doesn't know how to open this address, because the protocol (smb) isn't associated with any program. My client configuration is as follows: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux x86_64; en-GB; rv:1.9.1.8pre) Gecko/20100106 Ubuntu/9.10 (karmic) Shiretoko/3.5.8preI tried the instructions below to try and fix the problem with no success: Quote: From [URL]

Linux with Firefox In order to connect to a network share directly from you browser under Linux, you must configure Firefox to handle URL's starting with "smb://". This is done by typing "about:config" in the address line and hitting return. After that you must right-click the list of settings and choose "New -> Boolean" as shown below.

As name you must type: "network.protocol-handler.external.smb" with a value of "true". After that you must do the same thing over again, but this time choose "New -> String", type the name: "network.protocol-handler.app.smb" with a value of the path to the application you wish to use for browsing network shares. If you use KDE, this will typically be "/usr/bin/konqueror".

Software :: Setting Association Between PLS File Type And A Given Media Player In Firefox?

Jun 11, 2011

Kernel 2.6.21.5, Slackware 12.0 When I click on some audio stream links in my web browser (Mozilla Firefox), the stream comes in a URL ending in .pls, usually listen.pls. As I want mplayer to play it and not the default player, I intend to make the first the default one. In Firefox (2.0.0.4) I can do Edit>Preferences>Content>File Types>Manage and change the actions associated with each file type. However, if the type is, say, PDF, I can can only change the action if a PDF file has anytime been downloaded. So, the same goes for a PLS file.

You have an example of the kind of link I talk about here: [URL] In the case of a radio broadcast audio stream, I am not downloading it, I think. At least, the Download window does not open. The Download window not having open itsef, the PLS type does not appear in the window Edit>...>File Types>Manage leads to. And so, I cannot change the action. The action would be 'Open them with this application': mplayer.

Server :: OpenVPN Range Address / When Change Static IP To Dynamic IP In Config File OpenVPN Didn't Work?

Feb 13, 2010

I want to configure a VPN over the Internet.I installed the 'openvpn' package, generated the key file, transfered it by a secure way to the client, and setted up the configuration file.

So, in that configuration file I input the IP addresses of the tunneled interfaces. Both IPs are static in the tunnel.

Then, I've heard somewhere that I can assign a dynamic configuration IP for the client. I do this registering a range.

Well, when I tried to change static IP to dynamic IP (changing '192.168.0.2' to '192.168.0.0/24') in the configuration file, the OpenVPN didn't work.

Obviously I don't know what I'm doing, and I really, don't believe that simply changing the IP will make it work, but I tried.

I hope I explained my problem as well.

My configuration file:

# OpenVPN Server Configuration File
dev tun 0
ifconfig 192.168.0.1 192.168.0.2
cd /etc/openvpn
secret key_file

In client I execute the 'openvpn' without the '--daemon' parameter. Then I want that my client uses a IP in a range (192.168.0.0/24, for example), instead of a static IP (192.168.0.2).I also thought to use a DHCP server, but I'm not sure that will work.

Programming :: Extract URL From Firefox Address Bar ?

Nov 27, 2010

I'm trying to create an application that monitors, among other things, what site the user is currently viewing. I would like to know if there is any way to get the current URL from the Firefox's address bar on a Linux machine. I know that under Windows I can use the DDE server approach, but under Linux this task is proving very tricky. I've considered an approach involving an extension to Firefox, but this would require the user to install the said extension himself. Which is not something I want. If an extension can be installed by a different program's installer than that could work, but I don't know if that's possible or not.
