Jan 17, 2011I'm trying to setup Flash on my Fedora 14 x86_64 machine. I originally (mistakenly) ran through the instructions for the 32-bit version (posted here [URL]). I'm now trying to complete the instructions for the 64-bit version with 32-bit wrapper. However, I run into the following error.

Jul 7, 2009I download the live 64 and burned it to a disk after it burns to the disk Brasero checks and says "error some files could be corrupted." I burn it slowest burn same thing happen. I downloaded thinking I had a corrupted download. Same thing happen. I never had a problem burning iso until now. What am I doing wrong?

May 30, 2011i need to install vpnc in amazon ec2 fedor 8 instance. i have installed with yum install vpnc commaned. And i have placed config file in /etc/vpnc/some.conf. but it is not connecting and giving the following error.
vpnc: can't open /dev/net/tun, check that it is either device char 10 200 or (with DevFS) a symlink to ../misc/net/tun (not misc/net/tun): No such device.

Jul 28, 2011I've been trying to update Fedora 15 for weeks. I always end up with a transaction error and the update stalls. The error reads: GPG keys listed for RPM Fusion for Fedora Rawhide-free repository are installed but they are not correct for this package. Check that the correct key urls are configured for this repository.
This is far too involved for a linux newbie, I think my only option is to reformat and reinstall. This is so frustrating, there are 250 MB of updates available that I can't access.

Mar 10, 2011I have a bash script that i created for a colleague to configure the servers he installs. It does package installations, modifies some config files, creates directories.
The problem is sometimes he says that the script skips some steps. There are some steps that require user input and i think he chooses wrong option. (i have tested the script and it works fine).
My question is how can i save the output in a file (or log) so i can check if there are error? I know about the ">>" operators but will this "script.sh >> output.txt" still bring the dialogs for user input (like read input from shell and mysql password dialog from install package)? And how can i record everything he inputs?
I read about logger, but since there are a lot of commands do i have to log every command or can i just log the whole script.

Dec 12, 2010Tried upgrading from 8.04 lts to 10.04 and it wouldn't work b/c of too many mods to my 8.04 system? So I tried a fresh install per usb stick. System kept locking up during install, as well as when I run it from the usb, I've since learned. graphics card? I can't log into windows either per the grub loading please wait error 15. I've googled & searched the forums & everything I've tried doesn't work, there were some possible solutions that I don't understand how to do. can't get to a terminal to check or modify anything. Hitting "e" at the boot menu does nothing. I don't know how to do anything from here! Compaq Presario SR5350, 2GB RAM, Dual Core Proc 2150MHz. Dual boot w/Vista, HDD is partitioned separately with Root, Home & swap. Also, sda5 or / has been formatted to ext4, still using grub 1.5.

Jul 19, 2011I am trying to install Wheezy testing i386 using netinstall .iso disk.
After the disk partition stage and while in the 'Install the base system' stage I get the message;

I have over the past couple of months downloaded three daily builds of testing and the md5sums are good on all of them yet I have the same problem with each disk.

Aug 23, 2010I downloaded Ubuntu 10.4 netbook edition for my toshiba satellite a105 laptop (windows XP) burned it to a CD, restarted my computer with the disc in drive, pressed f12 at the appropriate time, chose to boot from CD. after sitting for a second i get error PXE-e61 media test failure, check cable. and then it boots XP normally. how do i get around this to install linux!

Apr 1, 2011I have decided to load the OS on a old HP Compaq DX2000 MT to see if its for me before putting it on my main machine.
I loaded Ubuntu version 10.10 last night everything was fine except I could not get my wireless adapter to work, I decided to connect via ethernet to get the latest updates and drivers.
After the updates and restart I now get the non executable memory error. when I enter
/usr/bin/check-bios-nx --verbose
I am told I have NX capabilities and should go to the bios and enable it. There is nothing in
the bios to enable as far as I can see. So I enter the command
sudo rm /etc/update-motd.d/20-cpu-checker

May 3, 2011I had to register with a new username, because I could not remember my logon details and have since changed ISP so could not get details sent, anyway that aside to the problem.
I upgraded to 11.04 and all went well (hence posting here and not in the Upgrade section) and it is running fine, well until yesterday.
I ran the update manager as I usually do when first entering Ubuntu and it did an update but then gave me an error message about file permissions and to check my connection (which was connected OK).It has also affected the Software Installer, and now I can not install any new software.
Is this a generic problem with the latest update or is it just my Dell Inspiron 1545 please?
