When I am trying to open a movie with movie player I get the following.

I've installed all of my codecs with autoten.
I ran Movie Player to play .mov file, but it generate the following error message:
pa_stream_writable_size() failed: Connection terminated
The .mov file is wide screen, I am not sure if that's why the error occurred. By the way, the .mov file is several hundred megabytes and store on DVD.
I tried running .mkv movie file using Movie Player from Ubuntu but I got an error saying "pa_stream_writable_size() failed: Connection terminated".

Now I am at work and discovered that I can't use git to connect to our BitBucket repository (hosted on scm manager) Every action that involves communicating with the remote repo results in this error: fatal: unable to access 'https://<repo url>: gnutls_handshake() failed: The TLS connection was non-properly terminated.
I have been searching the web to find a solution and it seems the gnutls library is very picky. It does not seem to be possible to force git to use openssl instead without a manual compile. I could do that, but I don't want to since then I have a non-standard system and lose the automatic updates, and manage that manually. Could I somehow reconfigure Debian to use openssl over gnutls?

and at times i run into a problem when you click on the app and it looks like it wants to open,the application's icon is on the bottom panel and the icon is bouncing up and down where there cursor is and then eventually it disappears.Is it timing out?
So when I click Places in the Main Menu and then any directory like Desktop or Documents or Pictures the Movie Player starts, and all the files that the directory contains are in the playlist. The only way around is to click Computer which would bring me into the file manager as normal.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI recently installed 10.04 LTS. I am now having problems with video playback. When I watch an .avi file in media player, it will play for a few minutes and then come up with an error: pa_stream_writable_size() failed: Connection terminated
When I play them in vlc and kaffine they will play briefly then the sound will cut out. KMPlayer just stops without an error message.
Every time I use Movie Pllayer to play DVD movie, it just hang on there and not responding,so I must click the 'Force Quit' button to close it.What should I do to overcome this problem? Is there any other software which can play DVD movie?

View 1 Replies View Relatedif i click on System or Trash, from the unity launcher, it open movie player. only the player and not either of those places. when clicking Trash, the player opens and starts playing "4 non-blonds", which was probably the last thing sent to the trash. clicking System just opens the movie player not playing anything specific. why is this happening? why cant we access those places. I'm not even sure how to revert. would like not to have to.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI was trying to view a dvd on ubuntu (which works on windows) so I downloaded a few progams from the synapatic manager and software center - nothing made the dvd work but now when I go to "places" and "home folder" movie player opens and has a error message window that is at least 10 deep that says "could not open location; you might not have permission to open file." I can't get to home folder at all!Did I totally ruin Ubuntu? Is this fixable? I rebooted and that didn't help

I am currently running and upgrade from F10 to Fedora 11 with the PAE kernel. Also I am using KDE 4 with kmod-nivida drivers. Now here is what I have done
To install Virtualization requirements I did the following: sudo yum groupinstall 'Virtualization'
I then also did: sudo yum install kvm qemu libvirt python-virtinst
I then installed xen:
sudo yum install xen*
Now, I read that i needed "kernel-xen" but it doesn't appear to exists a "yum list kernel*' only displays kernel packages and the kernel PAE pakages so I figured I don't need it I then started all the xen services and libvirtd service Opened virt-manager and added a new connection: hupervisor: Xen and connection: local

I guess my question now is... what is the difference between the hypervisor: QEMU/KVM and XEN. Because I seem to be able to create a VM using this. after updating my system I can't start VirtualBox-OSE anymore. I get the error:

I've just installed F11 (x86_64) on my computer. I've been using x86_64 since Fedora 7 and normally I use a manually installed i386 firefox/thunderbird. This time I've tried to do the same using Fireox 3.5b4 but I got many troubles. The last error I got is:

I recently upgraded to Fedora 11, and am having an issue with the USB modem (Novatel USB720) disconnecting almost immediately after it is connected. Sometimes it disconnects 30 seconds after it is connected, sometimes 2-3 minutes. And other times it stays connected for hours without a problem. I know the card is good as it works using Verizon Connection Manager software under Windows and never had this problem.
And, I am able to get to the Internet while it is connected, so it is passing traffic OK. I'm using the NetworkManager to connect the "Auto Mobile Broadband" connection. I've seen other posts on this very same issue, and I verified that pppd is called using the "lcp-echo-failure 0" and "lcp-echo-interval 0" options. But it seems that when it does disconnect, in /var/log/messages it says "LCP terminated by peer".
Below is an example of /var/log/messages where we can connect, then it immediately disconnects.
