I ran Movie Player to play .mov file, but it generate the following error message:
pa_stream_writable_size() failed: Connection terminated
The .mov file is wide screen, I am not sure if that's why the error occurred. By the way, the .mov file is several hundred megabytes and store on DVD.
I recently installed 10.04 LTS. I am now having problems with video playback. When I watch an .avi file in media player, it will play for a few minutes and then come up with an error: pa_stream_writable_size() failed: Connection terminated
When I play them in vlc and kaffine they will play briefly then the sound will cut out. KMPlayer just stops without an error message.
I tried running .mkv movie file using Movie Player from Ubuntu but I got an error saying "pa_stream_writable_size() failed: Connection terminated".

(I'm probably going to have my forum account revoked due to excessive usage ) I'm setting a VPN connection on openSUSE 11.2. Using the networking icon on the tray I add a PPTP connection, set it up but I receive a message 'VPN connection failed'. Googling it up I tried changing a setting called 'refuse-eap' to 'yes' but it doesn't seem to work. Here's the result from the log file:

Firstly I am new to red5 and not very strong when it comes to linux. I have had installed red5 on my dedicated server and going by the http://myIP:5080/installer demos it is all working fine. My problem is I cannot get it to work with my software being flashchat. I am not sure if it comes from me using the incorrect RTMP url and if so after trying about 20 or more ways of typing it in I always get the same error message "Connection Failed' or "Connection Closed" not to sure what is meant by Closed as to whether it's working but can't get in or what ever. I am after someone who can get this to work for me please and I am willing to pay for that service once it is working.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a DVD with a error located at a certain time. Each time I watch the DVD and then come to that point Movie Player (or vlc player) returns a error. Now I want to rip this DVD but all the rippers I tried return a error at that point when they try to rip it. Rippers I tried:
- dvd::rip
- FFMPEG
- Acidripper
- Avidemux
Now I want to know ain't there a ripper which can read over these errors and still make a decent rip?
I need to connect to my company through a Cisco VPN. The Cisco client fails to build so I thought of using vpnc. I used Network manager (NetworkManager-vpnc is installed). However after setting everything up and then logging in, I get the 'VPN Connection Failed' message.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a Pinnacle PCTV HD pro usb stick, and having unsuccessfully tried MythTV and every other DVB player in the repository, I was successful in getting Totem/Movie Player to load the channels (w_scan -ft -c US -k seemed to work and saved in the gstreamer folder...I think, lol!), but it won't let me play any of the channels but gives me a "No URI handler for DVB" message! What is a URI handler, and how do I resolve this?

I installed NXSERVER - Version 3.2.0-74-SVN OS (GPL, using backend: 3.3.0) but when i used nxclient to connect to the server i always got 'session x' failed.

partitions and on clicking write to disk:
Failed to mount "524M Volume"
Method "Mount" with signature "ssas" on interface
"org.freedesktop.Hal.Device.Volume" doesn't exist.
Only option under message is close button. I'm using Fedora 14 xfce 32bit live CD. The install seems to carry on normally until done but then when I check the partitions I've setup I seem to only have the origonal uneditted default partitions.
Anyone know a working movie player? I can't use Movie Player to play my movie because it's talking about plugin BS. Now I try loading the disc with VLC media Player and the crap just closes out.

However, I'm not able to handle this issue. I recently installed F11 and everything went well. But, when trying to see my other computers on the local network, I cannot. I receive this error message: Unable to mount location Failed to receive shared list from server. I understand the message as it is obvious, but do not know how to fix it.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to watch a DVD video using Movie Player, but nothing happens. It asked for a MPEG-2 decoder but then said Gstream already had the decoder. But to be sure I hunted down some rpm files with a free MPEG-2 decoder and installed them. Nothing happened. Before that, Movie Player asked for an Advanced Stream Format Demuxer. Then it told me it was already installed. I tried to uninstall Gstream. Maybe it was installed badly for reasons unknown, but the uninstaller warned that it would take 50 files with it.
I got the impression it was daring me to uninstall Gstream, so I chickened out. But I am upset now. This problem has wasted half of my Saturday day off and it is still not solved. I forgot to say I had also installed libdvdcss, in desperation. Nothing happened. This computer does display DVD videos with Movie Player using a different distro. I'm not surprised Fedora has problems. But you figure by 2011, watching a DVD video should be no problem by now in any distribution.
I am 75 years old, i have used DOS and Windows since their inception.Linux based operating systems are it seems to me overly complicated in nomenclature having used the MS systems all these years.I have spent hours trying to download plug-ins to make the movie player work and always get the same result ,,, I need plig-ins.With out being told how to build a watch I would like to know the time,,, there must be a simple download to install a working movie player on this Fedora 12 system.

The following plugins are required:
* MPEG-1 Layer 3(MP3) decoder
* XVID MPEG-4 decode
Do you want to search for these now? Once I click on the search button, it searches for the plugins, and after a while prompts with the error message that the plugins couldn't be found. Where will I find the plugins?

now the totem movie player is not able to play the video files, not only video files it cannot play anything includeing mp3 songs. here are some screenshots when i tried to open the video files...

I recently installed Kubuntu 10.04 Lucid Lynx. It is working well, but Movie Player does not work, and Dragon Player plays videos/movies but with no audio. VLC works fine. how to either remove Movie Player and Dragon Player or make them work. I tried apt-get remove mplayer but that doesn't work. If not that, I wonder if the default media player can be changed to VLC, e.g., when you click any video it will start to play using VLC?

I have most of my movies in .avi/Divx. when I was using Ubuntu the default movie player would play my vids but when I went full screen the movie would just disappear and would have to shut it down and restart it. Just wondering if I will have the same problems with F14/15.
