Mar 30, 2011I want to find some interesting games but the complete list looks a bit daunting. I can search the web for this information but what would be even better is if I could search a category in order of popularity. Is there a way to do this? Categories can be found here: [URL]

Jan 15, 2011i have fedora distribution running in my virtual machine. I installed sectool- .9.5-1.fc13.i686.rpm & sectool-gui-0.9.5-1.fc13.i686.rpm (the gui of the tool)
Then i modified the file /etc/selinux/conf to change the selinux from enforce to disabled (so the test can be run) the prob now, each time i try to lunch the package to get a test result... it takes so long time without result even if i choose 1 test only as u can see in the attached file. I've been waiting for more than 1 hour with no result

Feb 5, 2010Im using Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) version 5.Im SAP administration system, and I m stuck in prerequisite check, what I have to ensure, before installation of sap system, is check if the S.O. red hat have installed some things that are required... which are some package and groups/categories... I dont have any experience in Linux and so I ask for help please how can I know, from Terminal command line which packages are installed in this S.O. and more I want to know whats mean "Categories / Groups", because I read in a sap note that mandatory to have installed some categories / groups which are for instance:
- Servers/Printing Support
- Base System/Base
- Base System/X Window System
- Development/Legacy Software Development
- Development/Development Libraries (for Oracle databases)
- Development/Development Tools (for Oracle databases)
Whats this and how can I check if it all exist in my Linux?

May 7, 2010I don't know why I can't get listed the installed and not installed packages in the "Add and Remove Software" utility in Fedora 11 with KDE Desktop. I have already used it with no problems, but for some reasons I had to reinstall the system, and I got this problem since then. So, I can't remove packages because the list is empty (picture attached), and for the same reason I can't add new sofware from the Installation DVD.

Jan 28, 2009I now want to review and possibly remove some software with the Add/ Remove Software Tool. When I try to locate installed packages I get an error that reports 'No Package Cache Is Available'. It also says 'the package list needs to be rebuilt', 'this should have been done by the backend automatically'. When I click on 'More Details' it says 'Cannot retrieve repository metadata (repomd.xml) for repository: fedora. Please verify it's path and try again'.Can anyone please explain what's going on, and what I need to do to get the package list rebuilt?

I'm pretty sure the issue here is a typo in a file (the extra "/" in the path to "conflicts.tmp").

Dec 28, 2010recently I installed gDesklets with some minor problems that I fixed along the way.. But now that it finally works, I don't see all the categories? For example, the System/CPU category is missing etc.. Here is a screenshot of gDesklets Shell open:So, the problem is that it's not showing all the categories needed.. So, any advice? Edit #1: I found out that what I was looking for was the SideCandy things from gDesklets.. And I tried Screenlets, but it doesn't have what I need and the look is not really me..PS. Jun 17, 201010.04 installation (that worked fine for weeks) does not boot anymore (soft lockup). After some googling I suspect that the problem is the installation of the hostap_utils-package that I performed the last time I could use it. I am on a Thinkpad X30 without CD-drive and don't have my docking station at hand, but fortunately I still have a working 8.04 installation on it and I from that I can mount the 10.04 partition.
So my question is: Is there a good way to remove a package from a 10.04 installation when you cannot boot it directly but have access to the filesystem? Alternatively could someone please post all the files that belong to the hostap_utils package so I can just delete them manually (even though that probably is not a clean way to remove a package..).

Apr 20, 2011I had installed some kde app a while ago which I didn't want anymore so I uninstalled it and noticed that I didn't need the million kde dependencies that program had required. So I uninstalled all those, and everything went fine except for kdm which gives me the following error:

I was able to autoremove it, just not purge it (removing the config files left over).

Feb 23, 2011I'm a Fedora user, and recently I switched from KDE to Gnome. Since then I'm experiencing a nerve-wracking problem when I use the right-click. Almost every time when I right-click the result is the automatic selection of the option in the context menu which is at the same level as the cursor. This happens more than 50% of the cases. Is that normal in Gnome or am I the only one that experiences this kind of problem?

I think I could tolerate the new gnome shell if I could turn some of my tcl/tk and python gui scripts into things that I can store in the 'favorites' panel. In F14 I could create 'applets' ( with an Icon) that I could put in the top panel ( menu bar). Clicking on the icon would start the (gui based) script. Is there some way I can create a 'clickable' script in F15 and then place the result in the Favourites panel?
