View 14 RepliesI installed Fedora 12. I noticed that every possible language support is included in Firefox. What is the reason for this? Will Fedora and Firefox still work if I remove these languages?

As a newbie, I have no idea of what to do, how to investigate, or what to remove to make it work.
I'm trying to switch from debian to fedora (13) and I'm stuck at getting yum to remove leave dependencies.
So far I've installed "yum-plugin-remove-with-leaves" and I'm able to remove leave dependencies if I invoke yum with the "--remove-leaves" argument from command line.
But this doesn't work with graphical front ends and I want to remove unused leave dependencies every time if I remove a package not just if I remember to invoke yum with the "--remove-leaves" argument.
Later on I discovered an option in "/etc/yum/pluginconf.d/remove-with-leaves.conf" named "remove_always = 1" and uncommented it. But yum doesn't seem to care. I still need to add the "--remove-leaves" argument otherwise yum isn't going to remove the leave dependencies.
How to configure yum to handle dependencies the way I used to know from apt under debian? Install a package with a graphical front end and dependencies get pulled in as needed. Uninstall a package later on and dependencies installed in the first place are removed as well if not needed by anything installed in between.
I've installed F15 Gnome 3 and after a while in using this interface, I decided I rather go back to the LXDE desktop. so I've removed GNOME and installed LXDE.I'm not sure if it worked in GNOME 3 - but now in the LXDE I'm unable to install software using Add/Remove Software applet or check for software updates. When I attempt to do so - I get an error message telling me that "Authorization failed" - it doesn't even prompt me for the root password and I've resorted to having to do the install of new software and updates through the command line using "yum install ..... " and "yum upgrade".

View 3 Replies View RelatedWhen I am adding removing packages to get more hard drive space, this is not the first time I left too many pages open and it crashes on me. My son would fix it by typing in the terminal sudo something, but I want to know how to do this. The only thing not working is the add/remove packages at the moment. Here is what it said, E:dpkg was interrupted you must manually run 'dpkg--configure -a' to correct the problem E: _cache-open()failed please report. Please, could someone tell me how to get the default back or whatever. When I type in the terminal, it refused my password until I tried several times, plus, it finally says in the terminal No such command. Bash. No such command. I am hoping this question is one you do recognize the answer for.
I tried using Yum to remove the package. Like this:
To remove or uninstall a package:
Code:
yum -y remove ,package name>
Terminal goes: Bash syntax error near unexpected token `newline'

View 3 Replies View RelatedI accidentally clicked on a wireless network once and now every time I boot up, it tries to connect to that network and asks for the password. I have to keep pressing cancel and then it connects to my regular network.
I tried fiddling around with the network settings but I couldn't see any place where I could remove that network from the 'List of preferred networks' or at least try to prevent it from connecting automatically.
How to remove this network from the list of preferred networks? Edit some file somewhere maybe?

What used to work flawlessly in F14 now does not work in F15. I have done a fresh installation of F15 and all seemed to go well other than a few minor tweaks. In F14 I had an /etc/fstab file that worked well but in F15 does not work. I have 3 external USB drives, mybook, black & StoreIt. With F14 my fstab worked very well and booted regardless of weather or not any particular drive was connected at any given time. Typically I have the mybook and black connected at home and the StoreIt connected at work, but regardless it would boot and work without any problems.
