Debian :: Packages Not Authorized / Verified
Jul 20, 2010
Since upgrading to squeeze, when installing certain packages, I am getting a potential malicious software warning stating that some packages I am installing cannot be verified / authorised (sorry I cannot recall the exact terminology).
When I update my package information, I'm getting the following error so I don't know if the two could be linked?
W: GPG error: [URL] Release: The following signatures couldn't be verified because the public key is not available: NO_PUBKEY 07DC563D1F41B907
My sources list is as follows:
#
# deb cdrom:[Debian GNU/Linux testing _Squeeze_ - Official Snapshot i386 CD Binary-1 20100216-15$

When I try to download certain packages through synaptic I get the message that the packages could not be authorized and it fails to download. While it can be circumvented through apt-get with a small confirmation message , I would like a way through it , so that I do not get the message in future.

else had a problem with wheezy on cd1 install? I get to the install screen and can not go any farther as it will not pick up the keyboard or mouse. I have tried it on several PCs and also verified the disc. Just curious why there was not a 3/21 build? I have squeeze on my main drive and was wanting to install testing on my second drive with LXDE. It fun having stable running great on one drive and then playing around with testing on another. If you mess up so what format start over.

Even I have tried withexec ck-launch-session dbus-launch icewm-sessionIt also not helpful and additionally Trash stops working with this. Has anyone have any fix

I have just installed Debian Lenny and was trying to upgrade the installed packages from the packages.debian.org site. when i asked synaptic to add the downloaded packages the would not appear, but when i checked the .xsessions file there are entries saying that the packages were being ingnored because they were either different versions, the MD5 did not match or even "can't find pkg". i have to use the local library to download the packages because i dont have an internet connection at home.

I am working on a project which targets both 32 and 64 bit architectures at the moment. My system is amd64. I added i386 architecture using this guide. However, my problem is
Code: Select allapt-get install package-name:i386
prompts the removal of currently installed packages (amd64 arch.) which is the problem.
Code: Select allReading package lists... Done
Building dependency tree
Reading state information... Done
The following extra packages will be installed:
libportaudio0:i386
[Code] ...
Some of the packages I am talking about are
-libegl1-mesa-dev:i386
-libportaudio-dev:i386
Now, as of now, I want to carry out the compilation using 32 bit libraries, however, I really don't want to install 64bit version of all prerequisites each time I switch the compilation from 32 bit to 64. Is there any way to have both architectures at the same time?

I made a live USB memory stick / pendrive with Ubuntu netbook remix 10.04 using my desktop computer. I want to install / update my netbook that has no network function yet. I booted the desktop with the pendrive & ran update manager. I want to update the kernel so I will have the driver that will operate my netbook ethernet.Acer AOD260 has Ethernet Controller: AR8151 v1.1 Fast Ethernet, Atheros Communications & Network Controller: Broadcom 4727 (rev 01)and will not work from the current release of 10.04 (too new) but there are supposed to be drivers in the newer kernels.
Running Update Manager I get a box labeled "Debconf on ubuntu" & says "Configuring grub-pc". There is an entry box that says "linux command line:" & is empty. When I press the help button I get the message "The following Linux command line was extracted from /etc/default/grub of the 'kopt' parameter in GRUB Legacy's menu.lst. Please verify that is correct, and modify it if necessary. The installer is hanging, Preconfiguring packages ..., probably waiting for a response, but I have no idea what to do.

All the places online said to do this script - sudo add-apt-repository ppa:hel-sheep/pastie && sudo apt-get updatesudo apt-get install pastieAnother had a sudo upgrade in the middle, but essentially just that script above. I set up a data project to burn a bunch of files onto a CD. I want to backup the files. I went to edit > plugins and selected "File Checksum" and set it to SHA1. Will Brasero now automatically (as part of the burning process) calculate and then compare the SHA1 for the file on the HDD with the file that is burned to the CD? If the two SHA1 comparisons do not match then Brasero will kick up a dialog window alerting me? Do I understand how this works correctly? as long as the plugin is enabled this is all automatic? Is the "Image Checksum" plugin only in use when I am burning an ISO?

New install of Fedora 14, all updates applied. If a USB flash drive is plugged in, get a Not Authorized message when Nautilus tries to mount the drive. The drive does show up in Places in Nautilus. From a terminal window, if you 'su' to 'root', then:
mkdir /mnt/usb
fdisk -lu
mount -t vfat /dev/sdb1 /mnt/usb
WILL mount the device, can 'cd' into directories, 'ls' to list files, 'cat' the files -- all OK -- so the device itself is fine. But from a regular user account, it will not mount the drive. Did 'chown' on /mnt/usb and /dev/sdb1 so that the user owns everything. The same 'mount' command as above gives the message "mount: only root can do that". Disabled SELinux as a test -- same result. Searched around but only similar problem was in this thread (buried in the middle): [URL] That's where the sequence above was suggested, which does work as 'root'. Where else would permissions need to be set? And what changed? This worked automatically in previous versions of Fedora

That second 320GB HDD that I'm not authorized to mount is where my backups are. Now that I've reinstalled over the Lucid that I trashed on my first HDD I need those. The drive appears under "Places" in the side pane of Nautilus, but not sudo Nautilus. If I could see it under sudo Nautilus I think I could just right click and change permissions.

I want to control Network manager from the command-line. This worked well enough in Ubuntu 10.04 (with cnetworkmanager, nmcli is another possible choice). Since the upgrade to Ubuntu 10.10 however, a D-Bus exception is raised when I attempt to activate a connection from within a SSH terminal:
org.freedesktop.NetworkManager.PermissionDenied:
Not authorized to control networking.
It may have to do with /etc/dbus-1/system.d/NetworkManager.conf; This issue occurs only when I am ssh'd into the machine; in a gnome session I don't get the same issue -- with the same (admin) user account in both cases.
