I have a DVB-T (USB) card on a Debian Lenny EEE nettop PC. This works fine.I'd like to know if if it would be possible to use the DVB-T stream over a http server.I mean I'd like to be able to select a channel from a web page and to view it from an embedded player in this page.I do not searching a streaming solution. I'd like all is done on server side.Does anyone know if it is possible and how to achieve this?
I'm using Debian Squeeze with Fluxbox and I'm having a problem with xscreensaver. I've set to blank screen after 10 minutos of inactivity, but the problem is that when I'm watching a movie, the screen is blanked after 10 minutes too. So I have to manually kill xscreensaver before starting to see a movie, or I have to move my mouse / press keyboard every 10 minutes to activate the screen again.
I've done some search before posting and I only found something about a SMPlayer's option named "Disable screensaver", but it is already on and it has no effect preventing xscreensaver to work. Here is a screen shoot of my SMPlayer configuration window:

Apparently, xscreensaver isn't being able to recognize that another program is running. Could it be related to dbus?
PS: I had a dbus problem when I first upgraded to squeeze, my multimedia keys stoped working in banshee (whenever I clicked to play/pause/next etc, another banshee process was started), but I solved it by adding this line to my ~/.xinitrc: eval "$(dbus-launch --sh-syntax --exit-with-session)"
I installed Nagios on my Ubuntu 10.04 server using apt-get and when I accessed the web console, everything was OK. I made some changes to apache (creating some new virtual sites) and since then Nagios gives me a warning message for HTTP with the message, HTTP WARNING: HTTP/1.1 404 Not Found. The sites that I created are working perfectly. I noticed that the attemps are 4/4. Does this need to be reset or does Nagios automatically reset that once it detects the issue is resolved?
My question is rather simple, but i couldn`t find any answer yet i have a debian box connected to the internet through an ad-hoc wireless connection with a win7 box.Could I run a http server on the linux box and access it from the "outside" somehow, since my linux box has a "private network" type IP, ie: 192.168.137.12 ?
I have a ELRO C903ip.2 camera. I want to use it on zoneminder but am having trouble connecting. I have set a basic account of visitor with username and password both set as visitor.
The question is what is the syntax to the cameras ipaddress via http passing the u/n and p/w at the same time as part of the http string? I have tried the web page: [URL] .... to no avail, i must be missing something pretty obvious but just can't see it for looking.
http links in email on Icedove don't open in Icewease using LXDE:
network.protocol-handler.app.http & network.protocol-handler.app.https are both set to the default x-www-browser, which is pointed to icedove but nothing happens, any suggestions?
How to best manage both http and https pages on the same apache-server without conflicts. For example, if i have both 000-default.conf and 000-default-ssl.conf pointing to mydomain.com, and don't want users who visit mydomain.com without specifically type the https-prefix to be redirected to the https-page - how to handle users using browserplugins such as https-everywhere etc?
Another option would be to create a subdomain ssl.mudomain.com and have users who want to reach the ssl site to have to type ssl. I have tested several things with https everywhere enabled in my own browser, and it seems really hard to make this working the way i want, in one way or another i always end up getting redirected to the ssl-site automatically.
The reason i need this to work is because i run one site that i don't care much about SSL, that is the "official" part of that site, and i also host some things for friends and family on the SSL-part. This would not have been a problem if it wasn't that i use self-signed certificates for my ssl-site and the major user become afraid when a certificate-warning pops up in their browser and therefor leave the site.
I can watch the show.mpg file while its recoding using VLC, Xine, Mplayer... pretty much any video player.
This is nice because i can pause, rewind, and fast-forward live TV, just like all the commercial DVRs out there.
The problem with this method is returning to "Live TV" mode. When using a commercial DVR, when you are fast-forwarding and reach "Live TV", the player stops fast-forwarding and begins playing the live TV in real-time. When doing the same thing with Xine or VLC, the player simply stops when you reach the EOF.
Is there a player that mimics this? When it get close to the EOF, it switches from Fast-Forward to play?
I used to have MythTV, but it way too bloated for what I want to do.
Somebody know some software for watching satellite tv on pc (linux)? For windows and mac is all bunch of software (e.g. one small list is on [URL]), but for linux I found just two (not available for South America and "just" with few hundreds channels).
i use ubuntu 10.04 and I want to watch a .mkv with softsubs from right to left. I tried : totem vlc MPlayer SMPlayer with no luck. I am pretty sure I got it working on 9.10 cant remember how?
I found this old LifeView FlyTV Platinum card, put it in the computer and tried to make it work with Ubuntu. It gets recognized with
Code:
But this is where I'm stuck. I know this might sound stupid, but, what now?
It is in, but what do I have to do to actualy watch TV? Is there any program for that that I have to install? Any more configuring to do? I can do anything, it's not a problem .
I have Kaffeine version 1.1 and KDE 4.4.4 release 2 installed on OpenSUSE 11.3. During watching video in Kaffeine the powersave will start and after 30seconds will switch my computer off. When I watch video in Xine I do not have this problem (screen saver timeout is set to 10 seconds). I have not found this option in xine-config.
I transfer avi files on my usb drive to watch on my xbox. I have Ubuntu 9.10. When I watch the movie their are parts that skip or look messed up and sometimes freeze. When I transfer the avi files to my usb drive I do have a lot of other programs running so that could create problems when transferring the files. But it shouldn't right?
I'm just getting started with Ubuntu 64-Bit. Basically, I have Totem Movie Player and VLC Media Player installed and every time I watch a movie in either one of them. If I tab out of them or minimize them, when I bring the media player back up the screen is black. The sound still works perfectly but I can't see the movie and I've tried several media players out and they all do the same thing. Basically I can't multitask or bring up anything else while I watch a movie or I have to restart the player because of the media screen going black.
I'm not sure if my computer specs will help but here they are: Ubuntu 10.04 Lucid 64-Bit Intel Xeon X3210 2.13GHz Quad 4GB DDR2-800 RAM ATI Radeon 4870 512MB Videocard
I am running openSUSE 11.1 on a Pentium Dual Core 2.5 (E5200) Processor, 2GB RAM and an NVidia 8400GS PCI Express display card. When I intitially installed my system I also installed VLC media player, at that time it was version 1.0.1, Mplayer and SMplayer a few codecs for K3B, handbrake for DVD ripping etc. That was also the only time since my computer has been online, i have never updated it since. And it had no problems whatsoever. Among other things I use my system to watch DVD's. I watched many DVD's and video clips flawlessly.
Now all of a sudden when watching DVD's and video clips the DVD playback flickkers red (the color red). I am not sure what causes it and it is very irritating. It flickkers even more with video clips. With a DVD it dissappears after a while but as soon as you move your mouse pointer or click on the screen it starts to flickker red again.I thought it was my NVidia card that might be faulty, but I booted up from a Puppy linux live-cd and I played a DVD from there and it works 100%.
Is there a way to avoid sudden increases in volume while watching movies? The problem is the difference between the volume of the dialogs & that of the special effects (example: firing of a bullet ,a car crash, a lightning strike & similar). Is there a way to limit the volume to a certain level ? I tried volume normalization filter of both vlc & smplayer. But none seems effective.
I'm trying to watch some of my college's sports online, and they are set-up to use silver-light, but for me it is epic fail. Seems like others are having similar problems, but that is why this is a FAQ, or a FOP, frequently occurring problem. And if I don't post it again, its not treated as a frequent occurring problem. The college page suggests that I use moonlight to watch, but the iced/tea program it recommended broke other programs operation.
When I try watching HD or avi files with totem the sound and video skips then equalizes on its own, when I try in vlc same thing but I play with the sound until video and sound sync but there is slowness in video.mplayer won't start. I installed the gmplayer front end and I just get that but no video or sound, video won't play.
When I watch any video on YouTube my screen will turn off (no HDMI connection) and then it will turn on after a couple seconds (10 -40 seconds). When I played Borderlands 2 the screen is completely fine.
when I'm traying to watch 720p and 1080p movies, MKV format. The movie is breaking all time, do I need to install any codecs or extansions, or use another application.I tried VLC player, and it is same. Well i had same problem with Ubuntu 10.10 and could't fix it.
From time to time system freezes with no particular motive but most often when watching you tube video in full screen mode. How to diagnose freeze, hang, blocking problems in debian jessie system amd 64 gnome 3?
how do i able to allow some users that are able to create content in directory of http server. For example: i have configured a web server which have default document root /var/www/html, now i want to extend my web server through virtual hosting , i have enable virtual hosting, but i want that user sumit is able to create content in /var/www/html/secret. which is the document root for my virtual site?
I have been beating my head for the last few weeks on this problem, (although I have been taking the wrong approach, it seems).
I need a gateway to direct web traffic to three separate servers/domains. I have been trying to do this with both a dns server and , (seperatly), apache server to forward requests. The dns server was a no go, and <i can only get apache to redirect http and ftp.
After Googling this ALOT, I believe that what I need is a gateway server to redirect my traffic to the 3 different servers. I have been reading about using using nat and iptables for this and was wondering if anyone had any advice/suggestions on this. The other thought I had was to use something like pfSense to create the gateway, but I am still reading the documentation, and I am unsure if this approach will work.
I have a debian box running Apache2 and PHP5.2.6 lenny.
When a request is made via https, php displays the content fine. If the request is made over HTTP the file is offered for download, rather than displaying it.
I know its probably something trivial but I've never seen this issue.
The plot thickens, I can display PHP over HTTP in some directories but not others (which offer the file for download)?
