Debian Multimedia :: Can't Paste In Evolution Mail Compose Box
Dec 16, 2010
After installing Epiphany and Evolution, I am unable to paste any text into Evolution compose box and gnome-terminal. Neither Ctrl+V nor Rightclick>>Paste work. However, middle-mouse button click pastes text.
I am on Debian Squeeze.
PS: I am sure Ctrl+V doesn't work in gnome-terminal, but rightclick>>paste should work. And in evolution compose box both Ctrl+V and rightclick>>paste should work.
Evolution keeps crashing everytime I send mail. I am also constantly asked for my keyring or email passwords. I checked the log and found this error message.
This message was in a bug report from 2013 that seems to be closed.: https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugrepo ... bug=730256
My system : Linux version 3.16.0-4-amd64 (debian-kernel@lists.debian.org) (gcc version 4.8.4 (Debian 4.8.4-1) ) #1 SMP Debian 3.16.7-ckt11-1+deb8u2 (2015-07-17)
synaptic package manager says my evolution and keyring are the latest.
I opened a thread about this issue over two months ago, I opened thread at the Gnome board for the same issue but that board is dead. I never received a reply of any sort. Well Evolution used to work for me but after some updates it stopped working. A few weeks after that another update fixed it then another update came along and of course screwed it all up. Since then I am hoping some new update will fix it but no can do.Since my trouble started Evolution was even updated to a new version 2.30.2. Evolution does not connect to my mail POP server, as a matter of fact "send & receive" and the little icon bottom left on the status bar are grayed out. I have removed gnome and evolution and reinstalled with no results.
I switched to Icedove but when I forward emails Icedove gives me a header that is 10 times longer than the contain of the email itself. I could live with that if I only send emails to family and friends but I also send professional emails. I ended up installing a copy of MS Outlook for now but I really don't like it.
Whenever I try to do anything in synaptic, apt-get, or aptitude I get error msg dpkg: error processing /var/cache/apt/archives/evolution-common2.30.3-5_all.deb (--unpack): failed in write on buffer copy for backend dpkg-deb during './usr/share/gnome/help/evolution/c/figures/evo_labels_a.png':No space left on device configured to not write apport reports dpkg-deb: subprocess paste killed by signal (Broken pipe)
This is from synaptic E: /var/cache/apt/archives/evolution-common_2.30.3-5_all.deb: failed in write on buffer copy for backend dpkg-deb during `./usr/share/gnome/help/evolution/el/figures/evo_attachreminder_plugin.png' I have also been getting /usr/ full notifications. I have tried to remove files but after I reboot they are still there.
I have wiped Windows and am running 10.04 exclusively. 32 bit, when setting up evolution e mail account i dont see where to enter password....where is it? anyone have link with screenshots? i know i can use regular hotmail but want to know how to use default ubuntu programs.
I still can't find a spot for password. options are, login, set preferences and a remember password checkbox but nowhere to enter a password
Ubuntu 10.04. I want to change the startup sound and the mail alert sound (incoming mail) for Evolution Mail Client. I go to System > Preferences > Sound, and all I get are themes preset. I do not have option to browse to wav files. I also do not see a browse option in Email Settings. Do I have to change an actual file?
Despite enabling the "auto-complete" to complete an e-mail address from my personal Address-book, it doesn't work. After pressing on the "To"-button, no e-mail address is visible in the list of contacts. That is strange since the contacts are visible within the address book itself. However, when I typed the name of a contact within the "Search"-field of the address book, it also shows no result. Strange... Additional info: two days ago I replaced addressbook.db in Debian manually by the addressbook.db from Ubuntu 11.04 (I'm migrating from Ubuntu 11.04 to Debian Squeeze). It seems that there is no connection between the visible contacts in the address book and the rest of the Evolution. How can I solve it?
I've been running the Evolution mail system under Fedora-15/KDE for about a month now, and it has some very serious problems. I just noticed that it is available for SUSE, and figured that since KDE is the principal desktop supported by KDE the SUSE version may be fixed. Before I go through the very tedious process of getting the SUSE version to compile on Fedora, I'd like to know whether anyone has seen these problems with the SUSE version of Evolution:It ignores font control from the KDE Settings->Applications Appearance window, both KDE font control and GTK+ font control, also its own internal font control window.
It has trouble sending messages to an SMTP server, sometimes taking a l-o-n-g time, sometimes timing out. This can be temporarily cured by restarting it It crashes when a filter attempts to refile an outgoing message. It often asks if I want to recover messages that have never been lost. It often locks up receiving mail from a remote POP3 server. I can live with these, except for items 1 and 2, since I have workarounds. If you are fairly sure that you have not seen these problems with the SUSE version of Evolution
I use Evolution mail and use 2 PCs When I send mail it saves it to my current PC but not to the other PC so instead i want it to save the sent to the email server i'm using.
I have set up postfix and dovecot as per the Ubuntu anual and appear to have a functioning mail server.Using the sendmail command I can send mail and I receive mail in ~/Maildir. Using Thunderbird I can read any mails received but I can't send any mail from Thunderbird. I have tried with both STARTTLS and SSL/TLS and whilst I get the prompt for a password I keep getting the message my password for my server is wrong.I have ports 25, 465, 587 and 993. Is that all the right ports? When I ping my domain name it resolves to my router name whereas I believe it should resolve to my IP. Could there be a problem with my host file? I've had a play but to no avail. Here's the error in mail.log.
After running Pine remotely to view some mail on the server, I can no longer access those emails remotely with Evolution or Outlook Express. I know the mail is still there on the server someplace, because it still appears in Pine's "INBOX" folder. But that is clearly not the same as the "Inbox" folder for that account which appears in Evolution and Outlook Express, which is now empty. How can I configure Evolution to re-access those emails?
Is there a way to get Evolution to check mail and chat with a standard Yahoo (or Hotmail for that fact) account, without having to pay for the plus service?
Since the update to Squeeze, I've lost the ability to paste text by pressing both right and left mouse buttons. I'm using an EeePC, so I have no middle (scroll) button. I use this a lot, because I copy-and-paste IPA pronunciations of words onto worksheets I use at the school I work for*. *input the IPA symbols myself aside from choosing them from lists of symbols in LibreOffice excruciating when you've got to do it every day...
When I start evolution from the terminal I get this: (evolution:3265): GLib-GObject-CRITICAL **: Object class EMFolderTree doesn't implement property 'paste-target-list' from interface 'ESelectable' The program still starts though. I am fairly new to Ubuntu.
I use Evolution as my calendar(which syncs with google calendar). It was alerting just fine up until a couple of weeks ago and just realized today that I'm not getting any sort of popup for appointments anymore.
I have been using Debian for about 2 years now, I have decided to use my email through Evolution (actually both my live and Gmail accounts). Right now my problem lies with Gmail so I will just mention that...
Evolution simply does not accept my gmail password when I log in. I have gone through the whole "Evolution Setup assistance" many times, and whenever the setup is done, and I proceed to open up the program and actually log in to my email> I enter my password and click "ok", and then the same login screen simply flashes and asks me to enter my password again! This is the entire problem. I cannot go beyond the login screen, and evolution simply asks me to enter my password again, and again, while never logging me in. And yes, the password is correct as I use the very same one to log into gmail's web interface several times a day. Imap is also enabled in my gmail account.
I have used Gmail's imap and smtp configuration information from [URL]..... and it simply does not work, even though I put all the information into Evolution Correctly.
I am running the testing version and am fully up to date. When I try to run evolution, I get the following errors in a terminal. When I launch it normally, I don't see any messages, it just never loads. $ evolution code...
What can I do to debug this and get it working again?
can i just copy/backup postfix mail queues in /var/spool/postfix and paste that folder back in after i done migrating all users and mails to a new mailserver?
I am behind a university http proxy (squid) server and all of my internet connections have to go through it. I haven't been able to find any setting in Evolution that allows me to specify my proxy settings.
Searching on Google, it suggested that evolution can't work behind proxies and works only with direct connections to the internet.
I wanted to know if there is any way round this problem. I tried posting the same question on gnome list and gnome hacking list and no reply has come so far.
Evolution Mail 2.22.3.1 - Debian Lenny 5.0.4I configured Evolution in my gmail account. I can send successfully emails to users but I cannot receive any emails
I'm running Gnome on my desktop and going to keep it for now. I've read that Evolution is integrated into Gnome and I cannot remove it without deleterious effects. So, possible to disable it without negative effects? If so how to do that? The only problems I've had relating to Gnome have been Evolution. I'll just copy email links and paste them in Gmail.
Can anyone actually create an account with Evolution in Squeeze? The "Evolution Setup Assistant" won't take me past the "Importing files" dialog. When I press the Forward button, nothing happens. This is what I get when I press the forward button (running from a terminal): (evolution:9945): Gtk-CRITICAL **: Page flow is broken, you may want to end it with a page of type GTK_ASSISTANT_PAGE_CONFIRM or GTK_ASSISTANT_PAGE_SUMMARY
Running it from a terminal, every few minutes this happens:(evolution:25607): libsoup-CRITICAL **: set_ current_request: assertion `priv->cur_req == NULL' failed Segmentation fault..Found lots of cases that mention Gentoo (and Evolution 2.4) and this bug, but nothing with Debian. Bug is apparently due to the version of libsoup that Evolution is compiled against.Install is relatively fresh; about a day old. Packages are the latest updates.
i updated to Sid and installed gnome minimal (gnome-core). But, there are 2-3 days ago, Totem and Evolution became gnome-core's dependancies. Actually on Sid, i use VLC and Icedove and when i want to uninstall Totem and Evolution, "aptitude" wants to remove gnome-core too. I would like to know if it's possible to remove these applications without uninstall gnome-core completly?
Previously I was running Ubuntu 10.10. I have since migrated both of my machines to Debian 6.0.1. Before migrating I backed up my previous Evolution configuration, and after installing Debian I restored it from that file. Everything worked great except that backup included my UbuntuOne CouchDB address book, which I never used. When I right click it and click "Delete", nothing happens. I'm guessing the files in .evolution that contain this information are binary because I've done a locate ubuntu and couldn't find anything in there. It's not a deal breaker, but I'd like to get rid of this unused address book from a different OS.
I am having trouble getting evolution to work properly with my imap server. It won't show any messages. Icedove works fine, though. I'd rather use evolution because of the calendar. I'm not sure what I am doing wrong. The IMAP server is hosted by network solutions. I have screenshots of both clients. I've blacked out a few things for privacy.
After recent update (yesterday) Evolution became almost unusable: if I am going to create a new e-mail or just select a person from Contacts or reply to someone it simply crashes. The update also didn't go very smooth - 15 updates were not applied because of a broken dependency - evolution-exchange, which depended on evolution prior to 2.30.0 but 2.30.1.2-2 was to be installed. Is there a way to make Evolution to work or upgrade solving dependencies?
