I foolishly did some editing to tracks on my Macbook. I didn't know that the changes are not apllied to the actual MP3s. So what I had wanted to do was to take the songs and copy them back to my desktop. But the edited tags don't move with them. Anyway to move song plus tags?
View 2 RepliesI use Kino to transfer dv from my camera and also use it for video editing, but there are very few GUI options when it comes to transcoding the edited files into, say, h264. Kino is using ffmpeg, and I know there are a plethora of options. View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a doubt about the Gnome default Image Viewer.It's because I edit my RAW images on RawTherapee, and then export them to jpg.When I open the exported pictures on the image viewer, it looks like has lots of noise.But when I open the same picture on Gimp or Iceweasel, the noises doen't appear.
So, the question is: which image viewer is wrong? Is Gimp and Iceweasel "fixing" the picture automatically, or Gnome Image Viewer is reading it wrongly and showing it with noise?URL...
I am trying to connect my 2nd Gen Ipod to Xubuntu and import my music collection onto the Ipod. I am having real problems with this. Rhythm Box does not recognise the Ipod with the plug-in, I have tried Amarok, but each time I tried to open it, it just crashed, tried sending a bug report but that did not want to work. I have also tried Exaile with the Ipod plug-in but when you go to the device manager you can click on the Ipod but nothing happens. I have tried looking at the Exaile forums but this seems to be a problem for others as well. The Ipod mounts ok, now a bit stuck.

At this point my ipod shows on my desktop when i connect it via usb. I cannot set up the repository for it in gtkpod because i dont know the location its mounting to. if its mounting at all. so my question is. how can i tell where my ipod is being mounted? I dont have a clue what to look for in the terminal results for "df -a"

I've been trying to get my iPod touch (8GB, jailbroken) to connect with gtkpod iPod manager. But whenever I try to load the iPod I get this message.

tranferring Ipod audiobooks (m4b) files to my Ipod. I can't get them to transfer with GTKpod or Rhythmbox. I did manage to get a file copied, but it didn't show up on the Ipod.
View 2 Replies View RelatedCurrently I'm using gpodder to download podcasts from the internet, and gtkpod to upload them to my iPod. I like gpodder, but I'm not a fan of gtkpod. First, I find its UI rather confusing. Second, it doesn't automatically find new podcast directories, when I subscribe to a new podcast and gpodder creates a new folder. Third, it doesn't show episode release dates, so simply find a single episode in the long list is hard work! Finally, episodes are simply moved to the iPod, but I don't find them in the Podcast menu on the iPod--they are simply in the huge Music folder.
Regarding the last point, it is in fact possible to make episodes appear in the Music->Podcast entry on the iPod. You simply have to put episodes in a special playlist on the iPod repository called (surprise!) "Podcasts". It is a playlist of type "podcast", and with it podcasts are uploaded as expected to the device.
In the end, I think I'll stick with gtkpod. All other alternatives I considered don't support playlist, and this is even worse than not having episode release date, or having to manually add new podcast dirs.
What's gnome running that openbox isn't that allows this?
View 5 Replies View RelatedI would like to play the MP3 files that are stored on my Linkstation NAS through Amarok but I can't get Amarok to play them. The only way I can get the files to play is through Dolphin or to copy them to my local drive and play them from there.
Does anyone know how I can get the files to play through Amarok? I thought it would be easy seeing as I can play movie files from the NAS using Dragon Player and edit photos stored on the NAS using GIMP. Why won't Amarok play ball?
Am running Kubuntu 9.10 & Amarok 2.2.0
I have MP3 files and CUE files. I've tried unsuccessfully to burn a traditional audio CD from them using Brasero (burn image file, point to CUE, it acts like it will, then gives errors). I've searched all over Google and the Ubuntu Forums.

I have imported the folders into gmusicbrowser but it doesn't show up some of the files. I have also tried rhythmbox and banshee media player but they all have the same problem. The files play fine on my other pc runnin xp pro so they are fine. Also some folders have nothing in under ubuntu but have mp3 files in (as they should) under xp.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI've installed kubuntu 10.04 recently. I'm following the guide at [URL] to set-up the system. I've installed the kubuntu-restricted-extras package however I do not get any sound while playing mp3s. The sound system is working as I get the kde tune when I start up. I have tried playing mp3s in amarok, audacious, kaffeine and vlc. None of them work.
I opened system settings -> multimedia. It shows four devices and only the one which says 'ALC883(analog)' works in all categories (notifications, music, video, etc etc) when I click test. However sometimes I get a notification saying that the device doesn't work.
Another thing I noticed was that the mp3s play when Dolphin shows a preview of the file when it is selected. I mean that there is a preview part in the right hand part of the window. When I press play there, the mp3s play. But there is no sound when I play movies and mp3s in amarok, audacious, vlc or kaffeine
The motherboard I'm using is Gigabyte M61PME-S2P. Its an nForce 430 motherboard with integrated graphics and sound.
I upgraded from Ubuntu 10.10 to a basic Debian Squeeze system today, and then added xfce4 on top, using only the packages I wanted. I've installed DeaDBeeF 0.4.2 for audio, but can't get it to play mp3 files. It plays musepack, wav and flac but it won't even add mp3s to the playlist. In the add files dialog, "supported sound formats" is selected as the filter, and mp3 files cannot be seen until I filter to "other files (*)".I've installed ffmpeg and mp3s play perfectly in smplayer and mplayer.
Is there something else I need to install to get DeaDBeeF to recognise mp3s, or how could I diagnose this problem? I've searched everywhere but had no luck.
I've installed Opensuse 11.4 and even have the multiboot working (at last) and firefox running at more than a snails pace, but this latest problem is really stumping me. I suspect it might be a little more fundamental than just amarok and mp3's but that's where I see it.
So, when I run amarok it asks if I would like to install MP3 support So I click on affermative and, since I added the neccessary repositories, it starts merrily into updating. Then after a few files it his this one:

98MB. It downloads all the way to 99% and then the transfer rate drops from the 120KB/s I expect to 8B/s for a minute or so nad then it just restarts from 0%. It will do this a few times before offering the opportunity to skip. I did skip and it did a few more files successfully then hung up in the same way. It seems like any file larger than 1MB will not download.
I have kid3 for tagging MP3s and I really like it, however I would like to be able to specify an mp3 of a song I recorded and have it tag every field except for artist and title with my personal website for promotional purposes. I have a small amount of experience with python scripting, how I could get kid3 to automate this tagging.

It does recognize the file as a music file as it displays the music note icon in the comic balloon next to the music note file icon when the mouse is positioned over an MP3 file, however no sound is played.If I double-click the MP3 file, totem is invoked and plays the MP3 file just fine.
View 2 Replies View RelatedSome (very few) mp3 files on my hard drive seem to self-report incorrect (much too long) lengths to audio players. I mostly use Amarok, but I've verified that the problem also occurs with other audio players. The files play just fine, but it's annoying that they're listed with incorrect length. Most of my mp3s are encoded using VBR, but I can't imagine that that's a problem ... and if it were, it would be occurring with a lot more files, I'd think.I'm guessing there's a problem with the file header itself on these files. Is there some way I can check this and correct it, if that is the problem? A quick check through Synaptic didn't turn anything useful-looking up, and neither did a search through these forums.

Amarock just skips all the mp3s i want to play, and tuxguitar just plays without any sound, no error message or anything. I ran these both ot of the applications menu, not terminal (I dont know how to run them out of terminal).

i bought an obscure video/mp3 player from china recently, and one day, i managed to use AVIDEMUX to succesfully transfer video to it. However, i dont remember the settings AT ALL. I open the working video file with AVIDEMUX, and check out the properties, but there is option in the lists to the left to convert to the video type that is open. Is there anyway to export the video properties, then convert any video, to those parameters?
