Debian Hardware :: Very Slow WiFi Intel Wireless-N 1000

I've noticed that my wifi connection is significantly slower than my wired connection. Obviously wired is always faster, but when I boot in to windoze or use Mac, the difference between wired and wifi is negligible. I'm running Debian 8 testing on a Lenovo X201 with Intel Corporation Centrino Wireless-N 1000 [Condor Peak] network card.
Have been using Ubuntu Desktop Amd64 for 6months, on a dual boot alongside Vista64. Since first installing the OS, I have switched over to Ubuntu & use Windows only for heavy multimedia edition & the occasional gaming.I just bought a netbook and installed Ubuntu 10.04 LTS NBR. Works great, except for wlan. No propriety drivers available for my Intel Wifi Link 1000BGN.

I have search the web quite a while about issues with the Intel Dual Band Wireless-AC 7260 Wi-Fi/Bluetooth card. It seems plenty of people have trouble (or at least have had trouble) with it. I do have a working connection, device seems recognized etc, but it works only at a very low/annoying speed.I'm running Wheezy backports and I have firmware-iwlwifi ver 0.43 installed (from Debian testing).

I'm not sure why modinfo iwlwifi only lists firmware iwlwifi-7260-7.ucude while in dmesg you see iwlwifi-7260-9.ucude loads.
I'm releaving a HP Probook 4710S from it's native Vista) First of all let me say I'm happy because CentOs 5.6 handles it's Ati Radeon graphic flawlessly, unlike other Distro's I tried on this type of machine. So thumbs up for CentOs! But now I've come to a stop on the wireless card.
I'm running Linux 11.04 and my wireless network was working just fine until today. I cannot connect to WiFi - it acts as if the device wasn't there. The hardware switch led isn't working. No matter how much clicking on it, it won't work.

It works fine, however, when I boot using kernel 2.6.38 (from which I am posting) and in Windows. Also, I found some emails from the linux-wireless mailing list which appear to be talking about the same problem.
The system is fully updated. I've tried the 11n_disable=1 hint I came across on the ThinkPad wiki, but it didn't help. (I'm on an Asus K42Ja, in case it's relevant)
Although I'm fine with staying at 2.6.38 for now, are there workarounds/fixes for this?
I have Ubuntu 10.10 on a thinkpad X201. Wireless was working, but has stopped. It still works in windows, so it is not a hardware problem. iwlist wlan0 scan sees the available networks, but I cannot associate with any of them, including my own.
Last night was my first attempt to connect to a secured network, and nm-applet failed to make the connection even after entering the WEP encryption key and SSID. By turning networking off in nm-applet I was able to manually bring up the connection by editing /etc/network/interfaces and using ifup wlan0. (nm-applet seemed to be interfering as long as networking was turned on there.) Wireless was working perfectly until I rebooted. Now I can't get it to work at all. (There were some partially completed security updates which completed when I rebooted. I hope this wasn't the cause of the breakdown.)I notice that wpa_supplicant is always running. I tried killing it in case it might be interfering with the connection process, but something keeps restarting it.
I have only had a few weeks worth of experience with linux, so I'm probably considered a newbie at this but I felt like giving it a shot. I just configured my new Toshiba Satellite A505-S6969 to jaunty. Most of the transition is going well but I'm stuck with a few issues, one of which is getting my wifi to work. I want to connect to a 300mbit network (802.11n). With Windows (the same Computer) I am able to connect with full speed, but with Ubuntu Maverick (64bit), and a lot of other distros I tested, I am only able to connect with 54mbit. The builtin wireless network card is an Intel Corporation Centrino Ultimate-N 6300 (rev 35). Is this a driver Problem? I updated to kernel version 2.6.37-rc2 via ppa sources, but with no luck. I tried to extract the windows driver and started it with ndiswrapper, but i properbly made somethng wrong, because the card did not show up, though ndiswrapper said adapter available... oO?
I'm trying to get my Dell Latitude work with wifi speed >54Mbit/s, and up to now without any success. The router is a Dlink DIR-635, it has 'n' enabled and working (got an apple laptop connecting at 130Mbit/s, can't test the actual throughput though, since it's the only high-speed device).

I'm running 11.4, added the compat-wireless recently to be able to run the newes firmware (iwlwifi-5000-5.ucode , firmware version 8.83.5.1 build 33692), but still all I get is 54Mbit/s. I'd like to know if ANYONE ever got the 802.11n speed on linux, and in particular with these intel cards.
I just installed Fedora 15 yesterday and can't get wi-fi to work. When I click 'on' on the Wireless label, it goes back to 'off' immediately. When I open the Network Settings menu and disable Airplane mode, the Wireless connection goes on and then off immediately. I took a look at /var/log/messages and it shows this:

I've been trying to install the linux driver for my wireless car which is an 'Intel wifi link 4965'. I've followed the literature that Intel provide but I keep running into errors.

I moved to Berlin recently and I got wireless internet through an access point. I'm supposed to use the laptop's built-in wireless netcard to access the internet. This usually works in windows (connection falls out from time to time), but I have yet to make it work in linux. I'm using OpenSuse 11.3 64-bit and the Knetwork manager. Most of the settings in the network manager are correct, but it keeps wanting to use system certificates for the server. By that I mean it keeps checking 'Use CA System certificates'.
So I can't choose the CA-certificate supplied by my internet provider. I keep removing the check-mark and pointing it to the 'hotzoneCA.der' certificate. I also got a 'personal' certificate, in lack of a better word. Its called 'jacob_collstrup.p12'. The Knetwork manager seems to accept the 'jacob_collstrup.p12' certificate, but not the other one.
I just put the certificates in a folder like this /jacob/home/hotzone/zertifikate/ I can see the network fine using the Knetwork manager, and the signal strength seems ok. Not too good, but it shouldn't be a problem. I might have messed up the system, since I first tried this guide, prior to experimenting with Knetwork Manager:

I've got a Dell precision with Kubuntu 9.10. Wifi worked fine on that machine for months, but stopped working last week. I don't know what happened, but I recently did an "apt-get dist-upgrade". That might have something to do with it.
The funny thing is that it works fine in a Fedora installation, which has an older kernel and older drivers, on the same laptop. The fact that the indicator light doesn't come in when the physical switch is turned on suggests it's something to do with that switch.
I'm using a Vaio TT, which seems to use an Intel 5100 WiFi chipset, and a Linksys WRT54G2 (firmwares 1.0.1 and 1.0.4), ubuntus 10.10 and 10.04.
Wifi works fine out of the box. However if the other vaio tt in our office (running windows 7) comes online, my laptop stops being able to make new connections. It WILL stay connected to chat servers, and downloads SOMETIMES continue to work. However all new HTTP requests / ssh connections / rdp connections / pings fail. The laptop still appears to be "connected" to the wifi network.
This may also happen after an undetermined amount of time without the extra vaio. It is not solved by reconnecting or rebooting. Once the extra vaio leaves the building, everything works fine again. This problem does not happen at all if I boot into windows.
i'd like to extend that ma intel wifi link 5100 is not detected no more after perform upgrade package( upgrade the kernel too ). when im using command 'lshw -C network' , there is appear to be detected, but not on command 'iwconfig' or even 'ifconfig' it just show nothin. also network-manager no longer show that ma wireless is work properly anymore.

I'm dual booting windows 7 64 bit and Ubuntu 10.1 64 bit on my Dell Inspiron 11z with an embedded WiMAX/WiFi Link 6050 series wireless card made from Intel. I only use it for wifi, not 3g or wimax. I installed the latest driver from intellinuxwireless.org, iwlwifi-6050-ucode-41.28.5.1, but it still doesn't seem to work. I ran these terminal commands from another thread:

In the ubuntu help section it tells me to flip a manual wifi switch to enable it, but pressing my windows wifi button, F2, doesn't appear to do anything while in ubuntu. The only experience I have working with linux is typing some terminal commands on my android phone to root it.
as per pytheas22, i'm attaching few details here. my download speed would starts at 470 kB/s and gradually decreases until it reaches 116 kB/s. Loading web pages seems to be fine.
No improvement since I first reported this problem, I am hoping somebody can now advise. Using openSUSE11.3 Linux 2.6.34.7-0.5-default i686 with kde 4.4.4 release 3.Problem is the wait of sometimes over 2 minutes before the wifi connection is available.Two questions:- 1. Why does it take so long? Longer by far than it to be with previous openSUSE releases. Much longer than with that other OS!!!2. How do I remove the wallet process. Not needed in present environment so I would like direct connection without having to open wallet. I didn't set this up, it just happened after I had upgraded to 11.3 and I need to know how to disable it to save time.
I've reinstalled Slackware 4 times today because of things I've messed up along my way, after upgrading the linux kernel I've had issues with getting back to desktop, so I'm on a clean slate right now with the exception of installing wicd. I need help since wireless is not working.. My wireless worked fine out of the box with Ubuntu,I don't understand why it is not working now... Using Slackware 13.1, Kernel 2.6.33.4

I have an intel 7265 AC wireless card. When I try to download something my estimated download time is tripled almost every 5 mins.And when I play an online game from steam (cs:go or dota2) the ping goes to 250-300 ms which generally stays around 80ms. I'm using debian jessie. So far, I've tried turning of the power save mode of the card, changing ISP and router but none of them worked. I have a fairly good internet connection (I'm using it with my other machines without a problem) so I don't think the connection or router is the problem. Below you can find some information about system.
When using the very nice opengl screensavers, rss-glx, etc. the screensavers are very choppy.I tried modifying my xorg.conf but still no go.Anyway to get the rss-glx screensavers to run at normal speed?I read online that Intel disable the hardware acceleration.This is a work laptop but I just wanted to see if I could get it going.
Running Squeeze, with kernel 2.6.32-5-amd64. I do not find out how to enable 3d acceleration with my Intel 945 embedded graphics card. Also having very (i mean VERY) slow scrolling in some webpages (such as apple website, or danielestulin.com website). I tested the following "Hardware Acceleration Stress Test" with Epiphany, Iceweasel and Firefox, and the best rate I get is only 3 fps...[URL].. I tested the Chess game included with default Squeeze install, running in 3d mode, and definetely there is no acceleration at all...

I have an Acer Aspire 6930 laptop that I'm setting up for my wife with Debian Lenny. It has an Intel 5100 wireless card. I'd like to get a driver for the card without having to install a new kernel.
I have three Toshiba S55 laptops running debian 8 or ubuntu 14.04 with Intel 3160 internal wifi cards.
In a heavily congested WIFI environment all these machines will regularly lose their associations with an ASUS RT-AC68U 802.11AC AP whether running ubuntu 14.04 or debian 8. The AP is 5 feet away.
I have upgraded the 3160 /lib/firmware to the latest available on the Intel website.
The association will generally be lost within 1 to 10 minutes. The behavior is very repeatable.
I have removed all networking tools except for wicd. However, the same behavior is observed using network manager.
If I plug in an rtl8812au based 802.11ac dongle the connection in identical situations lasts forever.

i tried the new debian 6.0 live dvd and was so happy or the first time i had debian actually booting and then i was like o.O and what's up with my wireless and i then tried to install and the installer finally told me i need the iwlwifi395 drivers for my wireless so i copied that and now i have the drivers and i don't know how to build them to be like on the live image like straight in there since i boot have my wireless.
