Debian :: Enable The Apache2 Module / A2enmod?

The default Server root of the apache2.conf is "etc/apache2". But the actual "It works!" file is in /var/www/apache2-default
I edit the apache2.conf file the Server root line then restart the scrip at /etc/init.d/apache2
But the webpage still point to "It works!"
Anyone have idea how to change the Document root?

I'm trying to enable the rewrite module in apache, to enabled the module I followed the last entry in the fist page this thread:[URL]...When I restart the apache all works fine, so I supose it's enabled
Now I create .htaccess in my apache folder (/home/user/apache), and I write this:

RewriteRule ^link([^/]*).html$ test.php?link=$1 [L]
And I try to execute this: ./.htaccess, I have this mistakes:

What are I doing wrong?

I'm doing a custom version of mod_musicindex, but can't get the cache to write like it's supposed to.example cache file: /tmp/testing/cacheNow, normally I think setting the dir testing and file cache to www-data:www-data would be enough. Permission denied. I tried 666 as well, figuring why not. Permission denied.777 works, but thats pretty far out there...Am I using the wrong user/group? I figured apache modules would run as apache.Do I need to use 777? 700 or 744 don't work, which is making me think it's not running as apache...

I just installed apache2 server on my ubuntu 10.04. It works fine (i get the "that works" page when i access to http://localost/ and get no errors or warnings when i start apache.However, the localhost/~florian returns a 404 not found.I've enabled the userdir module

I think the problem is in the command perl Makefile.PL --with-apache2-apxs=/path/to/apache2/bin/apxs in section .../path/to/apache2/bin/apxs . What does mean ./path/to/apache2/bin/apxs? Maybe I should write the path to apache2 which contains a file named apxs? I did not find such file apxs. My apache2 path is /etc/apache2, but there is no file named apxs... i've got really wierd problem with kernel 2.6.31-20. After kernel update nvidia-module crashes "picture" on gnome & kde, it gives random colors / pixels to the screen. U can use it, so it's somehow working. Without nvidia module everything work perfectly. I've tried 5 different drivers but no solution. Also reconfigured X (dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xorg).This problem is also with older kernels. Problem came after i rebooted to 2.6.31-20 kernel.

Here is my problem:
I need to enable the statistic module in iptables.
I had Fedora 13 32 bits, iptables-1.4.7-2 and kernel 2.6.18
But kernel 2.6.18 does not support statistic module.
So, I upgraded from Fedora 13 to Fedora 14.
Now I have Fedora release 14 (Laughlin) and Kernel 2.6.18

How can I ugrade to newer kernel?

I am bit lost with configuring my apache2 web server. From the book I am using it says for me to configure apache2 to support PHP I need to execute "./configure --prefix=/usr/local/apache2 --enable-so". From what I can determine Apache2 is located in "/etc/init.d/apache2" folder. I used a Ubuntu 9.04 distro (I386 Server Ed.) to install the server. I added "Kubuntu-desktop" for viewing. Then performed web upgrade to Karmic 9.10. All went well !! Question is; Where do I execute a command to enable PHP support? Once again, the command is to look something like "./configure --prefix=/usr/local/apache2 --enable-so"

I have a server that I can only access via SSH (it's located far away) and I would like to secure it by blocking all ports except the ones that I need (which are HTTP and SSH). I still want to be able to make outgoing connections to enable software updates and other things.This is my iptables -L -n :

In my opinion, this should block all incoming packets except the ones on port 80 and 22, but allow responses to outgoing connections. But a wget http://google.com does not work, it can't establish the connection.
Maybe this is not the best style for iptables rules, but I want to be absolutely sure to not accidently lock myself out from SSH, so I chose not to configure a "block-everything rule".
Does this configuration not enable incoming packets from connections initiated from inside?

I recently installed Deluge 1.2.0 from the following PPA:[URL]I using this on two different Linux computers. One is running Linux Mint 8 and the other is running Ubuntu Netbook Remix 9.10. The first time on either computer when I enable WebUI in the Deluge GUI it works fine. However if I ever disable it in plugins section I am subsequently unable to re-enable it (doesn't appear in the side panel again). Rebooting or reinstalling Deluge seems to have no effect.Is this a bug or am I doing something wrong?

I have scoured the internet in search of a way to implement this 301 redirect on Apache2 to no avail. My distro is Debian 5.0 Lenny. I want all request to sepserver.net to be 301 redirected to [URL]. Does anyone know how to do this? I have never done this before so I could really use a detailed explanation of how to implement this type of 301 that will work.

I have apache2 running under debian squeeze on a Seagate DockStar of a USB flash drive. To reduce the wear on the USB stick, I want to move all log files to RAM. What I did was to update create an entry in /etc/fstab to mount /var/log to tmpfs.Things seems to work except apache2. y start apache2, it complains aboutStarting web server:apache2(2)No such file or directory: apache2: could not open error log file /var/log/apache2/error.log.If I create the file, apache2 starts fine. Having tried different approaches to install (and run!) a webserver certificate from StartSSL on an Apache2 webserver, I had no success at all since three days. There are many web pages out there in the internet, each is naming it other ways, i.e. one speaks from server./etc/ssl/certs/server.pem, another name it /etc/ssl/private/server.key etc. etc.
Is there a common-sense description how to name a private key, how to name the public key, and just important again, where to place them and what what rights they must have to protect them? And, still important, which config file to adopt (default-ssl, or default-ssl.conf).
By the way, I implemented already the certificates in an other environments, and they are all working (tested with the ssl checker [URL] .....).
How to find a common-sense web page for Apache2 on Debian 8.1?

I've been working on my servers, one of them is Ubuntu and the other one is Debian (Newest), and both seams to have a problem with charset configuration.
They wont register ISO-8859-1, insted it says no value when i look at it with phpinfo() function. It's importen that i feel this is working.

I'm running an up-to-date install of Squeeze, and I'm having an annoying issue where php5 won't parse in userdirs (/home/*/public_html), although it works fine in the main document root (/var/www). I found this bug: [URL] Which seems to say the issue is fixed. However, the last comment for this bug suggests it is still an issue for some.
I've had a look at: /etc/apache2/mods-enabled/php5.conf and commented out the lines suggested in the comment:

Installed Apache2 on a Debian Lenny system. copied my old /var/www/htnl over to the new system.
Now when I open my browser to my PC I get the index.html under /var/www not /var/www/html.
I have this in my httpd.conf:

From what I have read, the DocumentRoot should have pointed to /var/www/html overriding /var/www?
If I use "10.1.1.13/html" it works the way it should.

I am running Debian-Squeeze with apache2. However, apache2 doesn't start at boot time, even though there is of course the required script in init.d. I can start it later on using "/etc/init.d/apache2 start". I have checked the configuration with "apachectl configtest" - giving the answer "Syntax ok". How do I get it to start automatically at boot time?

Im running a Debian 2.6.26-2-amd64 webserver with apache2 only on a Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Duo CPU E4500 @ 2.20GHz that has 2GB of ram in it. I installed htop a few days ago and have been looking on it for a few days now. the server idles on about 80~ish tasks constantly with arond 20 apache tasks/connections to it all the time and the cpu usages of the 2 cores at about 1% each. but asoon as more apache2 connections/task get started and the servers tasks reach 120-140~ Apache2 timesout if you try to go to the webpage i host on the server. when it's back down to around 80~tasks you can reach the webpage once again. why is this ? what's causing this to happen ?
