I tried to compile it but it seems to have one extra dependency after the other that needs to be compiled. I'm assuming that it should work since Google Chrome works for Lenny (apparently). Will it be added to backports eventually or anything of the sort?
View 3 RepliesHere's my problem: I'm running a Lenny laptop and I need both wifi and virtualbox to work. I had to do a kernel upgrade to run the wifi. It works with either the 2.6.29 or 2.6.30 kernels, but with 2.6.30 I'm having screen brightness issues that I can't seem to get rid of. So I want to run 2.6.29, but virtualbox is a bit of a problem because it requires linux-headers-2.6.29, but when I try to install the amd64 headers it tells me that it cannot install the dependency linux-kbuild-2.6.29. Is there any way I can get that dependency installed on my computer?

View 1 Replies View Relatedi was trying to use gnome and kde but i don't like them. I tried xfce and it seem to fit my needs but.My computer is used to be powered on for a weeks. While time passes, a process xfdesktop begin to use more and more memory and to free RAM i need to log out and log in again.
I tried squeeze yesterday on my virtual machine and it has 4.6 and seem not to have that bug, RAM usage is static(yes it still works when i write this and have memory usage 34492k, which is not changing for an hours of usage already), also 4.6 is MUCH better than 4.4.
i already tried adding squeeze to "sources.list" but i can see too many dependencies which should be upgraded if i install 4.6, i'm beginning to afraid it can crash entire GUI(or entire system, i can see there is libc6 required to be updated).
there are 2 related to 11.3: openSUSE_11.3/ and openSUSE_11.3_KDE_Distro_Factory/ Index of /repositories/KDE:/Extra they are not listed as official kde4 repos here KDE repositories - openSUSE, but they are in the same directory structure on the build service so it would assume they are official (what ever official means) They have rpm's I didn't see in community and playground (at least for 11.3) such as audex and clementine I would guess that they are for the stable and factory versions of KDE4 but then shouldn't there be a 3rd for unstable if this was the case? Or do they refer to the distro, 11.3 stable and 11.3 factory
View 6 Replies View RelatedI often use the option in Chromium to create 'application shortcuts'. These are instances of Chromium that make a website look more like an app by not including most of Chromium's toolbars. I use it for gmail and google docs and spreadsheets and calendar. In 11.04 I have set up Desktop launchers and copied them across to the Launcher (what an odd way to add something to the launcher, why no right-click 'add launcher' option?)
The problem is that the launcher thinks all these apps are chromium (which they are really, but I would like them to be seen as separate apps). If I minimize my gmail window, a little triangle appears next to the chromium icon, not the gmail icon. To get the window back, I have to click on the Chromium icon. Clicking on the gmail icon launches a new instance of it (also tied to the Chromium icon).
if i run chromium with --enable-gpu-rendering flag chromium's display looks like it's shattered into thousands of pieces and I can't understand a thing. This doesn't happens if I have a previous instance of chromium opened in the usual way, without any flag. In this case if I open another chromium window with the --enable-gpu-rendering flag it's display looks ok, but I can't figure out what's the problem and how could this be fixed if there's solution for it of course.

Is it possible to force AWN to group this specific chromium window under the Grooveshark launcher that I have in the dock? Turning off grouping does not solve this either, as it just shows grooveshark as another chromium window.

I had a Compiz update two weeks ago, this update came from the official repository of Debian. So everyone had this update, this update did not had a positive effect. The extra plugins on both my desktop and laptop can't be enabled now. Such as Expo or the Animations. I can just use the basic stuff. There have been some partial upgrades ever since for Compiz, so I guess they are still working on it. But my question is; am I the only one?

Installed Debian Squeeze onto my laptop using the netinst cd. During installation, I did not have access to the internet and installed "Standard System" during tasksel.
Install Two :
Installed Debian Sqeeze onto my desktop using the same netinst cd. However, this time I had connected the desktop to my router during installation. Similary installed "Standard System".
Both system later installed with KDE and working fine. Noticed that immediate after installation of the "Standard System", my desktop had more files installed eg. the exim package. Why the extra packages (eg exim) are installed? Are they actually required?
I usually install chromium from the frickelpatz repo. On one previous update I noticed that other packages that had not been installed from frickelpatz were updated with packages from there (i guess frickel had a higher version number - k3b i think the package was). So I would like to see what other packages it offers so I am aware of which packages are at risk. failing that is there a way to tell apt that i only want to use the repo for chromium and its dependencies?

I'm having an issue where Chromium doesn't seem to be installing the main binary, and possibly more.I installed the Chromium package through aptitude, and everything seem to go through without errors.When I attempt to run chromium either through 'chromium-browser' or 'chromium', bash says the command is unrecognized.I did a search, and browsed through the 'usr/bin' folder. I found nothing that could possibly be the binary.

Chromium browser uses completely different programs to open files than file browser (thunar). And most of the time thunar has associations I want. For example thunar opens PDFs with iceweasel, and chromium opens them with GIMP (!), note that I have never changed this king of settings. Until I changed it today chromium also used Baobab (I didn't even know it existed before I saw it) to open directories ("show file in directory" for downloaded files).
I know how to change for a single file type (at least for browser), but is there some way to set all file types to something sensible and keep both, browser and thunar in sync without doing all of that manually? Or at least revert it all to default?
Debian version: latest "testing" version. (I use testing because I really need up to date versions of a lot of programs)...
I obtained chromium-browser source code from sid and compiled it for Squeeze and it works but only as root which is strange. Could someone tell me why or how to make it run as user or both?

I am wanting to install Chromium-browser in Squeeze. I notice that it is in the stable repos, but it seems to be fairly out of date. I was wondering how difficult it would be to install it from the unstable repos and what the consequences of that might be?

The version which is available through squeeze and wheezy main is a dinosaur, and as such I cannot install any Chrome addons. I tried ubuntu or launchpad ppa for Chromium-Daily. I added [URL] maverick main to my Third party Repositories. Its not working.
The terminal returns an error:

Now each package that depends on lib-mesa cannot be installed. How can i define my package as alternative to lib-mesa, so i can install those packages ? I am running Debian squeeze and I am trying to install hplip-3.10.5 so I can use my new HP Photosmart C4750 printer.I downloaded the automatic installer and ran it and it gave me the following error message:

does the package "cups-image" exist? and if it does were can I find it. I have looked to no avail. I have posted a question on hplip seeing as that is were I got the script from.
Encounter errors of files with "missing LSB tag and overrides". Looking up the recommended website, I found the following instructions.
insserv: warning: script 'X' missing LSB tags and overrides
The /etc/init.d/X script is lacking the LSB fields. Adding them to the script header or as a override file in /etc/insserv/overrides/X would solve it.
But where to get the LSB field? There is a list of known files but those giving problems are not among them.
