View 2 RepliesInstalled Truecrypt onto openSUSE 11.3 (KDE) and noticed that Truecrypt needed to be started as root.Modified visudo using YAST asusername ALL = NOPASSWD: /usr/bin/truecryptHowever, when copying files from my backup drive into the Truecrypt partition, there is an access problem (couldn't remember actual error message)In Konsole , updated visudo to username ALL = (ALL) NOPASSWD: /usr/bin/truecrypt Copying is allowed and working fine.Question:1. What is the difference between the above two visudo setting?2. How to updated visudo to the second setting in YAST?3. How to change the editor for visudo in konsole using nano instead of vi?

View 3 Replies View Relatedhow I can install truecrypt on Opensuse 11.2 32 bits. I've made a search trough Yast and the opensuse 1-click install website but could not find any package for truecrypt.
Is there an alternative way to install with software? so any solution that does not fall into the category of Yast or web-based installation of packages will be exotic for me
I'm running Natty 64 bit and cannot install Truecrypt 7.0. I downloaded the tar.gz from [URL] and have tried to install it several times, all without success. I've tried to install it via terminal by running
[Code]...
Each time it goes through the normal steps of having me accept the user agreement and the popup which tells you to run the "truecrypt.uninstall.sh" script to uninstall. The problem is that each time when I click 'ok' at the last step, my desktop environment freezes. I'm running unity 3d. The terminal I started the install process in doesn't produce any output.
Sometimes when the freeze occurs I can still move my mouse, but none of the menus or windows will respond. Other times the mouse will be frozen as well or it will just log me off. I haven't found anyone else talking about this issue and I honestly don't know where to start looking for a way to fix it.
When I installed truecrypt, I successfully encrypted a thumbdrive. but after reboot, truecrypt isn't in my apps > accessories menu anymore. or any for that matter. I've seen several posts on the web about this problem, but no answers.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a Windows partition encrypted with TrueCrypt. If I start TrueCrypt (or RealCrypt) I can mount the partition through the GUI. before I encrypted the partition I used to auto-mount it at boot using fstab and it would appear in my places bar in the file managers. Is it possible to auto-mount truecrypt partitions from fstab?
View 2 Replies View RelatedRight now I only have Windows 7 64bit installed. I'd like to keep it installed and have a hidden Truecrypt system partition that holds Ubuntu. I've installed Ubuntu once before, but it was a while ago so I don't remember the details. Also, I'm not entirely sure how to work Truecrypt as I've never used it before. Do I install Ubuntu first and then run Truecrypt, if so, how do I deal with the fact that installing Ubuntu involves many partitions. Does Truecrypt recognize this automatically or do I have to somehow encrypt them all?

The file also comes with a PGP file. (tar.gz.sig.). I am not sure how to use the signature file to open the archive. Here is the site I downloaded from: [URL]
Is it possible to mount truecrypt volume at start-up with Xorg being disabled? I found only issue on automatical mounting TrueCrypt volumes for Gnome. We just add to /etc/gdm/Init/Default
Code:
truecrypt /home/workimage.tc /home/work
And where can I set a rule for system to mount volume from console tty1? And, i'm wondering is it essential to unmount volumes each time i shut down my PC? And if yes, where can i set this rule too.
I've tried to compile it by myself, but since I do not know all libraries / compiler programs and assistant programs to be installed beforhand, great frustration has appeared ("g++ not available" etc. ...)Is anybody here who can publish a simple and perfectly understandable tutorial of how to compile Truecrypt for PowerPC architecture from source?
View 1 Replies View Related've been using truecrypt for quite sometime now and, because of that, I want to make a .deb package out of the x86_64 precompiled tarball one's able to download via their site. I'd gain know how on this specific package building, would integrate the resulting package in the apt-management, etc..How can I do this? No "making" required. It is just a .deb repack of the precompiled truecrypt.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI installed truecrypt but it didn't open, I don't know why, maybe it needs gtk libs to work.
so I'm looking for an alternative KDE app that at least can open truecrypt files.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI've been looking at setting up truecrypt on my laptop, but the guides on the truecrypt site and the ubuntu documentation seems to be incomplete or not address what i want to do.
What I have:
dual boot windows 7 / Ubuntu (lucid)
What I want is to dual boot with the hidden OS system:
Windows 7 (plausable)
Ubuntu (plausable)
Ubuntu (hidden install)
Is this possible? or is it better to make a hidden /home partition?

View 6 Replies View RelatedI used Truecrypt in Windows and it worked pretty well. I tried to install the program on Ubuntu but got some problem. Here is what I did and the problems I got:
1. I downloaded the standard 32-bit tag.gz file from [URL]
2. Extract the file onto desktop
3. Installed by double clicking and run in terminal or directly run in terminal (I assume they are equal)
4. Follow the instructions till 'Press Enter to exit'.
For me it seems that the program is installed successfully, and the icon shows up in the Application- Accessories menu. However, it doesn't respond at all when I click the icon. For most of the software I used in Windows, I have already found equivalents that are working fine. And I really don't want to go back to Windows because this program.
I work for a all-in-one IT company, basically businesses hire us and we will fix all their problems from servers to pencil sharpenersI want to get some background with UNIX so i wanted to multiboot linux on my laptop and use it for a few weeks. After a few hours of trial and error i managed to install it! So to the point: i used Truecrypt to encrypt my laptop and it used a special boot loader that made me input the password just after the post.My question is, can i use Truecrypt with a multiboot 7/ubuntu? After it took me hours to install this , running into and trouble shooting various problems that were probably just my ignorance, but Linux feels very fragile and i do not want to screw it up.

View 7 Replies View RelatedWhen you are creating a TrueCrypt partition it asks what filesystem you will be using:
None
FAT
EXT2
EXT3
This is fine if you decide to create your partition on Linux but I am wondering what you would do if you wanted to create it on your XP partition and access it through the mounted drive. My XP is NTFS and that option does not appear.
