View 1 RepliesI have some japanese music files stored on a flash drive that the titles of which are in japanese originally. While in the flash drive, when I go to Properties -> Audio, the title is written in japanese. It does not allow me to edit the file, no matter what permissions I have on it, therefore I can't change the name to english. So, I tried Rhythmbox instead, and transfered the file there. I could change the name, however there is STILL a huge problem.
I have around 300 japanese music files, all of which have to be renamed into english.
I did all this for all of them in Rhythmbox, and clicked "quit" when I was done. When I came back to transfer the files to my MP3 player like usual, I opened Rhythmbox, and...
ALL OF THE FILES WERE STILL IN JAPANESE! It didn't save any of the work I did on editing them. But, I calmed down and thought "oh, you can save playlists! I am sure that if I save them on one, it will keep the edits!" I did this, and it saved nothing. It took me 2 hours to finish the renaming, just to find out that it can't save information edits at all.
I installed Banshee and upgraded it but I don't see the Amazon Music Store.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI have been using OpenSuse KDE for about a year now and my default music player is Amarok. I think it is a good music player, but I have just one complaint about Amarok 2.3.0 that comes bundled with 11.3 --- it simply does not display the embedded album art in mp3 files.I don't know if Amarok users have faced this issue previously, but its quite surprising when VLC displays the embedded album cover but Amarok doesn't. Please have a look at the screen print below which shows VLC and Amarok playing the same song but Amarok does not show the album art...
I embed album art for my mp3's using a free software called Mp3tag through Windows. My mp3's tagged and embedded through this software display their album cover not just in Windows and VLC on Linux but also on my mobile phone.Surely something is not right with Amarok when it comes to displaying embedded album art.
I'm trying to figure out how to change information on audio files. On Rhythmbox, for example, the genre or artist information might be incorrect, or unknown. Thus far i can't find a way to change this info.
View 2 Replies View RelatedLet me begin by saying that I'm a "casual user" of my computer (I'm a retiree who uses her 'machine' for email, looking up mostly useless info, & pretending to be a writer). However, migraines from beating my head on the keyboard in frustration over Windows eccentricities led me straight to Linux. Linux blows windows out of the water, IMO.
Except for Media Players. I have tried every one in Ubuntu's software catalog. Rhythmbox is the only one that works, & it doesn't work correctly. I use my computer as my primary music source, & have saved nearly 200 albums/CDs to it. I transferred my collection to a memory stick, then tried to transfer it to Ubuntu. Rhythmbox 'accepted' most but not all albums, but none of the downloaded music, & lists the songs in each album backwards. When I open an album, sometimes Rhythmbox plays them backwards, sometimes (rarely) 'frontwards', but usually, jumps around, plays a few of the numbers, then stops. Occasionally, it goes through the collection, playing one song from each collection.
I was able to transfer the entire collection to 'Listen' media player, but it doesn't actually play anything, & I never even got that far with any other player. I have a two year-old HP Compaq Presario desktop w/ 500GB, (300 to Ubuntu & the rest to The Dreaded Windows for some stuff I can't run on Linux). I began with running Ubuntu 10.04 on 'wubi', then installed it from a CD I burned from the Ubuntu site. Someone suggested I had screwed something up during downloading, so I got 10.04 on a CD (w/ "Ubuntu for Non-Geeks"), but had the same media player problems. Last month I upgraded to 10.10, but still have the same problems.
I have got a Cowon iAudio 9 music player and want to display the album art images of the albums on it. The player does support this feature but only when there is a *.jpg file inside of the album folder or the image is embedded into the music file itself (did not tried that).
At the moment I'm using banshee as music management software and I like it. The album art is downloaded automatically for each album and when the player is connected it is beeing recognized and I can drag & drop albums or single songs.
The only problem is that the album art is not transfered along with the albums. The player does support MTP and MSC usb connections and is mounted as removeable usb drive to the system (Ubuntu 10.10). I would be glad if there's a solution to do that with banshee but other software solutions are welcome too.
I am using Ubuntu 10.10, and am trying to use Rhythmbox. I have 180gb of music on an external hard drive, and have that music folder set in my library location settings. When I open Rhythmbox, my drive shows up, and it starts importing. It doesn't show up in the "Music" section, and when I close Rhythmbox, then re-open it, it rescans that drive all over again. what I'm doing wrong and why it won't save my library,
View 1 Replies View RelatedThe latest version of banshee 2.0.0 which was updated today on my computer has a bug where if you double click on song in your library it will show the wrong album art and the wrong wikipedia article. If you double click a second time it retrieves the correct album art and the correct wikipedia article. If this is the new banshee for Ubuntu 11.04 it's not going to make many people happy.
View 1 Replies View Relatedi've configured my laptop so i can use my domain account (active directory win 2003 DC) to logon to my machine. Now i'd like to browse and mount shares etc using my logon information. Now when i connect to a share with nautilus it tells me 'guest' can't log in and i need to re-enter my user info. This is a real pain since our passwords change often. Is there some way i can use PAM to authenticate? I've searched everywhere, but you only find info about the other way round (win->linux).
View 1 Replies View RelatedI recently got an iPod touch 2nd gen. I plugged it in and it immediately showed up in Rhythmbox. I dragged and dropped music files to the iPod icon listed under devices on the left hand pane. The files ARE on the iPod, I can confirm by finding them on the device in Nautilus. The problem is, they do not show up in the music library on the actual iPod. Did I miss something, or is there a step I must take to get them to show up in the iPod's music library so I can play them?

this might not be a Centos related issue, but since I'm using Centos I guess it doesn't hurt to ask; I've used Ubuntu before and haven't encountered this. So, I've just installed Centos and Webmin and now I'm trying to configure the server. Problem is that on the Apache configuration page I don't have the option (should be there) to configure the Apache modules. I've attached a file to show where the modules option should (as before) appeared.
View 6 Replies View Relatedthis is probably going to seem like quite an odd post, and something that most of you probably won't even be aware of, but it is something that affects me a lot, maybe cos im slightly ocd about how things are organised on my computer, but here goes:
when adding music to a music player, say banshee- which is my favourite ubuntu one, many of the tracks information are often 'auto corrected', im not sure how this is done, whether there is information stored on the file, or whether the player accesses a database on the internet, but basically this is not what i want, i want to be able to upload the files and change them from the state that they are when i upload them. can anyone else relate to this problem? or know of a solution..
the thing is, it is only about 20% of the files that are changed after uploading and i have no idea what the reason is for it, and its not restricted to banshee, it happens with just about all media players
Anyway since I upgraded to Ubuntu 10.10 when I right-click on something and there is another menu in that menu, it doesn't show up for the first time!
for example if I want to create a an "Empty File", I'll right-click on desktop and when I want to go to "Create Document" menu, it doesn't show up! so I must click somewhere else and try again so for the second time it works!!
openSUSE 11.2 installed on machine with 5GB memory but System Information in KDE desktop shows only 3GB total memory. Just added a further 4GB but no change shown in System Information.
Is there something I must do to have sysinfo report true value and does this mean that memory not shown is not being used?
POST BIOS check shows 9GB installed.
I'm trying to find a command or program to show what files and folders are taking up the most space on the hard drive, much like tree size view on windows, is there and equivalent on linux?

View 2 Replies View RelatedOk For some reason I open my ports in security and firewall. I open ssh and other ports and port 7001 for example but when I go to check to see if they are open or try to connect to them. It shows that they are still closed. I am using - [URL] Also yes my ports are open on my router. I know my router works fine with opening ports because I have shoutcast setup on another computer with xp that is currently running. I am willing to pay for who can ever get this fixed for me...
I open the ports in graphical mode.
I bought some music (first time) a few days ago and am still not seeing it in my "purchased music" inside Rythmbox. When I access my Ubuntu-one account from the web-interface I can see that everything's there, but the music simply doesn't show in Rythmbox or in my Ubuntu One folder. I don't use ubuntu-one for anything else then this music, so it might be some global problem

In Document Viewer, I can click on the fields and type in them, but after spending about 2 hours writing descriptions of courses, I saved it and... it closed the document I was working on, and loading the document I saved resulted in empty fields that could no longer be edited at all - clicking on them did nothing - it looked like a blank form, except it was also broken.
Is there any way I can actually fill in this form...
For a long time, I haven't heard a startup sound from Ubuntu. I do hear the short staccato drum beat when the log in screen is displayed. However, the other longer startup music doesn't play. Not a very serious flaw but since I upgraded to ubuntu 10.04, I thought I'd like to have everything in perfect working order.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI am using KNetworkmanager-vpnc to VPN back to the office from home, the vpn connection works fine - for 15 minutes then I am disconnected. I am fairly certain that this is related to the Phase 1 key lifetime limit. The Knetworkmanager-vpnc GUI does not provide a location to enter this information. I think I found the config file that holds the connection information at /home/<user>/.kde/share/apps/networkmanagement/connections/ I just don't know the proper syntax to put in the file to specify a key life limit. Anyone out there know how to do this? I am using Fedora 14 x64 with knetworkmanager-vpnc 1.0.9-0.28.
