View 2 Replies View RelatedI recently got an iPod touch 2nd gen. I plugged it in and it immediately showed up in Rhythmbox. I dragged and dropped music files to the iPod icon listed under devices on the left hand pane. The files ARE on the iPod, I can confirm by finding them on the device in Nautilus. The problem is, they do not show up in the music library on the actual iPod. Did I miss something, or is there a step I must take to get them to show up in the iPod's music library so I can play them?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI am trying to configure mpd (music player daemon) to access my music files that are stored on a windows server (NAS).
In the mpd configuration file I have to point to the directory in which the music is.
How do I do that? Is it something to do with mount?
I have no sound after upgrading to 11.04. Sound control panel and test speakers emits no sound. The new music player won't play sounds from music CDs either.

I've had an awkward problem lately: every music player I use wants to instead of play music from my USB external hard drive, stream music from it. I have no idea why it suddenly started doing that. It may have been an accidental key-combo I pressed, thinking I had another window targeted and didn't bother pressing it again for my Totem music player. So I closed out of Totem in hopes that Rythmbox would work like totem used to. Well, it doesn't. It wants to stream music now.The problem with the streaming music is trivial, but here it is: I have a playlist with a little over 300 songs. I have Totem set to shuffle and repeat my music. Streaming music with it makes it just stop randomly after a few songs, and when I try to pause music and play it later it takes a good 30 seconds before it kicks back in at the beginning of the song.Like I always ask because I don't know enough to give back to the community yet, can anyone help me? Thanks.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI've been ripping my CDs to digital for about 10-12 years, and for about 8-10 years, all my new purchases of music have been in digital form. My favored method of organizing my stuff has been by using subdirectories code...
It seems that every music program that has the ability to manage your music collection wants to use MP3 tags to do so. I severely do not want that behavior. I would like to be able to automatically create a library based on pathnames.
Winamp cooperates with my directory structure, but Rhythmbox / Songbird / Exaile seem to be hard-coded to just read id3 tags and operate according to that.
Ive heard that amarok works but im not sure how to download it.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI have my music sorted using directories so I don't want a library, tags and what not. What I want:
easily (recursively) add directories to playlist from my music root, not from library songs in playlist grouped by directories they reside in directories in playlist must be collapsible and rearrangable, option to collapse all but currently played folder being a nice bonus buttons/shortcuts for next/prev directory are a must shuffle songs within their directories, shuffle directories within playlist

I have a pretty straight forward (I thought) request for a music player and I'm hitting problems EVERYWHERE
So what I need:
1. Plays music on my computer
2. Can transfer music & playlists to my Creative Zen
3. Can burn cd's within the player (and make auto convert to .wav's so I can play in my vehicle).
I'd like to have lyrics and a wiki page (like songbird and amarok do) but I'll sacrifice them for the other features....which all seem so basic
In the /boot/grub/ all the grub mod files show as music file type for Linux Mint 8. So is it really needed to correct this, and how to change this file type from some music application to the grub module file type association?

View 3 Replies View RelatedLet me begin by saying that I'm a "casual user" of my computer (I'm a retiree who uses her 'machine' for email, looking up mostly useless info, & pretending to be a writer). However, migraines from beating my head on the keyboard in frustration over Windows eccentricities led me straight to Linux. Linux blows windows out of the water, IMO.
Except for Media Players. I have tried every one in Ubuntu's software catalog. Rhythmbox is the only one that works, & it doesn't work correctly. I use my computer as my primary music source, & have saved nearly 200 albums/CDs to it. I transferred my collection to a memory stick, then tried to transfer it to Ubuntu. Rhythmbox 'accepted' most but not all albums, but none of the downloaded music, & lists the songs in each album backwards. When I open an album, sometimes Rhythmbox plays them backwards, sometimes (rarely) 'frontwards', but usually, jumps around, plays a few of the numbers, then stops. Occasionally, it goes through the collection, playing one song from each collection.
I was able to transfer the entire collection to 'Listen' media player, but it doesn't actually play anything, & I never even got that far with any other player. I have a two year-old HP Compaq Presario desktop w/ 500GB, (300 to Ubuntu & the rest to The Dreaded Windows for some stuff I can't run on Linux). I began with running Ubuntu 10.04 on 'wubi', then installed it from a CD I burned from the Ubuntu site. Someone suggested I had screwed something up during downloading, so I got 10.04 on a CD (w/ "Ubuntu for Non-Geeks"), but had the same media player problems. Last month I upgraded to 10.10, but still have the same problems.
I have got a Cowon iAudio 9 music player and want to display the album art images of the albums on it. The player does support this feature but only when there is a *.jpg file inside of the album folder or the image is embedded into the music file itself (did not tried that).
At the moment I'm using banshee as music management software and I like it. The album art is downloaded automatically for each album and when the player is connected it is beeing recognized and I can drag & drop albums or single songs.
The only problem is that the album art is not transfered along with the albums. The player does support MTP and MSC usb connections and is mounted as removeable usb drive to the system (Ubuntu 10.10). I would be glad if there's a solution to do that with banshee but other software solutions are welcome too.
I use mt-daapd music server to stream music to a couple of network music players (which use UPnP protocols). Recently (last month or so) I have found that on restarting my ubuntu system I need to manually restart the avahi-daemon in order for the music players to be able to 'see' the music server. I think avahi-damon is running when ubuntu first starts up. The output of a ps aux shows:
[Code]...
I'd like to understand why I need to restart the avahi-daemon and either solve this or learn a way to automate restarting it on system boot up so I don't have to do it manually each time. My system is ubuntu 9.10 64 bit and the version of avahi-daemon is 0.6.25
I'm running Kubuntu and have tested flash video sites with firefox, chromium and rekonq. I have installed all the available packages from Software Management but flash videos still don't display correctly. All get is a small rectangle of video on the bottom left hand side of the video box (which is otherwise grey).

View 1 Replies View RelatedI bought some music (first time) a few days ago and am still not seeing it in my "purchased music" inside Rythmbox. When I access my Ubuntu-one account from the web-interface I can see that everything's there, but the music simply doesn't show in Rythmbox or in my Ubuntu One folder. I don't use ubuntu-one for anything else then this music, so it might be some global problem
View 3 Replies View RelatedI'm a new Fedora user and I've been downloading some software from the repositories. BUT, I found a problem: I can't play ANY media with ANY player; however, I can hear system sounds but music. I've tried several media players (Exaile, Amarok, Audacius) but none of them can play a song. The format of all my music library is MP3. In the pre-installed Rhytmbox and Totem it says something about codecs and searches for them, but finds none.

Obviously have not given all all the deps, but the last 7 odd ones tell you what I mean. If anybody knows of any good music player which has similar functionality as banshee lemme know. Look for two things:-
a. Should be able to play all and any music format (have all the plugins)
b. Should be able to close it and have it in the system tray playing in the background.
i have just installed fedora 11, when i try to open .mp3 file with Music Player, it can't open it and also it can't find plug-in for play mp3 files, when i was using ubuntu, it find it automatically, can fedora do it for me ?
