Amarok just skips all songs one by one. It starts playing and ends song immediately and goes to next song.I ran Amarok in konsole..[URL].. I tried different audio files (mp3, wav...) but the same every time.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a PC running Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit. I have about 50GB of music in the Music library. I can connect from, play to, and download music to my DLNA enabled phone (Samsung Galaxy S), everything works fine.
When I start Rhythmbox on my laptop (Ubuntu 10.10), it sees my PC (appears under "Shared" in the left panel), but the tracks won't show on the list, it seems as if it fails to retreive the list of media. No matter how long I wait, nothing happens, the tracklist remains empty forever.
I have installed the "coherence" plugin from the Software Center.
I'll attach the console output rhythmbox generates when starting up,
Sidenote: it works the other way around, I can "Play to..." Rhythmbox from Windows Media Player.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI upgraded to KDE 4.4.3 this morning, but after that Amarok (with Xine backend) does not play music any more - track is progressed, but only silence comes out of the speakers. I tried Gnome music players too, but none of them plays anything.
I installed GStreamer with different kinds of plugins and switched Phono backend to gstreamer. When I start Amarok now, it says I have no MP3 support, so it has to be installed. It does it, restarts itself and it can play audio again. After restarting, having no MP3 support is reported again.
How can I make amarok play music that is in a .wma format? Or how would I convert it to mp3?

View 3 Replies View RelatedIt seems that some of the functions I used almost daily in Amarok 1 are not to be found (at least by me) in Amarok 2. After a thread without a solution on how to play Random tracks, here is a new one.
In Amarok 1 I used to place a track (e.g. sitting in a download directory) in the playlist (by clicking on it). A right click on it in the play list revealed a few options. Two of them:
. copy track to collection.
. move track to collection
Both are gone in Amarok 2 and I could not find a replacement.
Btw when I right click on an item in the collection list (at left) there is still the Reorganize file(s) that is very much the 'collection internal' equivalent.
As I suppose that it is possible to add to the local collection, who knows how to do it?
I have no sound after upgrading to 11.04. Sound control panel and test speakers emits no sound. The new music player won't play sounds from music CDs either.

when I try to play music on amarok it just won't play, it just loads lyrics and then, nothing. on rytmbox everthing works fine but amarok don't work.
View 9 Replies View RelatedFor a long time, I haven't heard a startup sound from Ubuntu. I do hear the short staccato drum beat when the log in screen is displayed. However, the other longer startup music doesn't play. Not a very serious flaw but since I upgraded to ubuntu 10.04, I thought I'd like to have everything in perfect working order.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI just upgraded (full reinstall inc. format) from 11.1 (32bit) to 11.3 (64bit).
Everything is working correctly except gmplayer (installed from packman).
If I play movies using gmplayer they do not play smoothly, but the strange thing is if I play the same file with mplayer from a terminal it does play smoothly.
If I play the file from a terminal with gmplayer no errors are reported...

Maybe it's just an Amarok2 problem, but whenever another app (for example Konversation) plays a sound file, the audio instantly cuts out (in Amarok2) and will not come back unless I quit Amarok2 and restart it.
Amarok2 has only the options - "HDA ATI SB VT 1708S Analog" or "PulseAudio" (which is NOT installed).

After many days of trying to tweak Ubuntu 9.10 desktop i386. This subject will focus on my dvd drive. ...Here is what I have done, but I'm not sure what I did or still need to do, or to do different. ...
Basically the problem is, I can't play store bought DVDs, but I can play my copies of them.
When using MDPlayer that I added to Ubuntu, I can play the copies of my store bought DVDs, but not the originals. However, when using Ubuntu 9.10's movie player, it wont do anything and I'll have to do a force quit to close it.
I learned that this may because there is a repository of packages that cannot be included into the Ubuntu distribution, as I'm sure you already knew.

Running the Terminal, I added the bash command that adds Medibuntu's repositiry to Ubuntu. It also adds Medibuntu's GPG key to the keyring.
(The sudo wget - etc etc etc --quiet update)
Then I jumped down to the... "This command should be run in the Terminal, after adding the repository:" ...And did that. (sudo sed -e 's/ etc etc etc /medibuntu.list)
I am using Suse 11.4, with the Gnome desktop. I have downloaded the VLC player, but cannot work out how to make it play CDs in the CD drive. Right clicking on the Audio Disc icon that appears on the desktop whenever I load a disc doesn't give me an option to Play using VLC. Is there a way to make VLC the default player for CDs?

I go to places-computer- and see the floppy drive, files system hard drive, and the cd drive. When I insert the music cd the cd drive disappears. It sees a data cd just fine.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a rather strange problem and it surfaced just recently. Most likely it has something to do with switching from Ubuntu 10.04 to Ubuntu 10.10.
When I upload music to my iPhone 3gs with iOS 3.1.3 (7E1 it shows in iTunes, however the phone skips over the music. This does not happen to songs I uploaded via rhythmbox two weeks ago.
For a test purposes I deleted the old songs from the iPhone and tried to put them on again. Now I cannot listen to them as well. At least I know it has nothing to do with the used mp3 coding.
I even can use the iPhone as a harddrive for that music and play music from their through rhythmbox.
The song list shows the right sizes on the iPhone.
It is save to say that the data is transfered and the music database is updated. So there must be a strange error in detecting the length of the songs which would point to a problem in updating the iPhone database. However, I cannot be sure, because the phone is not reporting any errors.
How would i be able to do that if possible?

With my laptop i login with "ssh -X" to the desktop pc and start banshee to play music stored on the desktop pc. (the banshee userinterface is shown on the laptop and the sound goes to the hifi installation) This works only when there is a monitor connected to the desktop pc, when i disconnect the monitor the sound is gone. Is there a way to play music without the monitor ?

View 7 Replies View RelatedMy wife and I each have 32 bit machines with two media drives and we're running Debian Squeeze with KDE4. If either of us put a commercial music CD in our primary drive (it's a CDROM drive on mine and an LG Super Multi drive on hers) Squeeze sees the music CD but can't play it. If either of us put a music CD in the secondary drive (Panasonic DVD/CD R/RW on mine and another LG Super Multi on hers) Squeeze sees the CD and KsCD plays it just fine however she can't see the files on the CD (in Dolphin) on her machine (though she can see the folders) while I can see the files just fine. My machine is a 1.8 GHz Athlon with 750 MB of RAM. Her's is a 2.4 GHz, triple core, Athlon II machine with 4 GB of RAM. Both are running pure Debian with no customizations.

I am trying to configure mpd (music player daemon) to access my music files that are stored on a windows server (NAS).
In the mpd configuration file I have to point to the directory in which the music is.
How do I do that? Is it something to do with mount?
