Ubuntu Multimedia :: Banshee 2.0.0 - Song In Library Show Wrong Album Art
Apr 13, 2011
The latest version of banshee 2.0.0 which was updated today on my computer has a bug where if you double click on song in your library it will show the wrong album art and the wrong wikipedia article. If you double click a second time it retrieves the correct album art and the correct wikipedia article. If this is the new banshee for Ubuntu 11.04 it's not going to make many people happy.
ok on my new laptop, banshee deletes songs other then the ones I told it to. I highlite a song or 2 I want to remove from a playlist, rightclick select remove from playlist and some seemingly randome other song is removed and the one I selected is left there.
what could cause this, am I the only one affected and is there a solution, for the moment I am using rythembox to play music.
I would prefer to use banshee as it plays nicer with my mp3 player then any other program I have tried.
Is there any way that Banshee would show just one album in album view instead of all of the artist on the same album, Like "Billboarrd top 50" is shown multiple times instead of just once.
how can i make banshee display album art on bottom left of the interface i mean there is no feature that will provide a bottom left album art box on banshee it self.i can see the album arts but there is no feature to display a box on bottom left with album art ? how can i do that version 1.5.1
I'm cleaning up my music library and deleting duplicates and during that process I accidentally deleted the wrong song. Is there some way to undo this process? Banshee gave me no warning, and the trash is empty. I'm assuming there's a command I can use to recover the file, but as I'm a complete noob, I need some assistance.
Both Banshee and Rhythmbox crash, leaving a segmentation fault in the terminal, after playing a song for less than a second. I do manage to get some sound before they crash. This problem seems to have begun only a couple of days ago after doing an update. Unfortunately I was playing playing around with moving my music collection to an NFS share around the same time as the update so I can't be sure which action it was that broke music playback.
Because both Banshee and Rhythymbox are affected and showing identical behaviour I think the problem is gstreamer. Reinstalling everything I could find in synaptic related to gstreamer had no effect.
Some general information: - My music collection is in FLAC but other formats seem to cause the same behaviour. - Music from an NFS share or my external USB drive causes the same behaviour - VLC plays music from my NFS share without any problems - Removing ubuntu-one (as suggested in some posts) did not help - I'm using Ubuntu Desktop 10.10 x86
I've had no luck searching the interwebs for help thus far. Does anyone have any ideas?
I think I've gone through every media player there is out there for Ubuntu, and the one that's come the closest to managing my library the way it's managed in Windows with MediaMonkey has been Banshee - being that at least it supports the albumartist tag.
But it still doesn't work as well as I'd like. In the 'artist' tag field I use the semicolon ( ; ) to separate the artists if there are more than one. For example the artist tag of a particular song may look like this: Blakroc; The Black Keys;Nicole Wray
MediaMonkey would see this and separate the tag so that each of the contributing artists would have this song under their name. Every media player on Ubuntu (that I know of) sees this as one artist in itself, so in my Artist section I could have a bazillion 'artists' who are in fact all the same artists.
My first question: is there a way to get Banshee (or another media player) to recognize the ' ; ' in the tags in the same way as WMP and MM do? My other question: is there a way to change which tagging fields Banshee looks for. For instance, when determining the album artist, some media players look for the 'ALBUM ARTIST' tag, others look for 'ALBUMARTIST' while others look for 'BAND'. They all mean the same thing but when your music is tagged in one program, it turns out completely different in another.
How do i make banshee just download all of the album artwork automatically? it only downloads when i play the album atm, and thats a huge amount of useless clicking when adding a lot of music.
I updated to ubuntu 11.04. Now I have banshee instead of rythmbox. However I cannot see anymore any of my covers. All my mp3 have the cover embedded in the mp3 itself. I have never had any problem before. Also by reinstalling rythmbox I cannot see anymore the covers..
Everytime Banshee tries to switch songs from a local folder it crashes with. I have tried completely removing it and reinstalling but that did nothing. Here is what I get when I run it from a terminal.

I have been using OpenSuse KDE for about a year now and my default music player is Amarok. I think it is a good music player, but I have just one complaint about Amarok 2.3.0 that comes bundled with 11.3 --- it simply does not display the embedded album art in mp3 files.I don't know if Amarok users have faced this issue previously, but its quite surprising when VLC displays the embedded album cover but Amarok doesn't. Please have a look at the screen print below which shows VLC and Amarok playing the same song but Amarok does not show the album art...
I embed album art for my mp3's using a free software called Mp3tag through Windows. My mp3's tagged and embedded through this software display their album cover not just in Windows and VLC on Linux but also on my mobile phone.Surely something is not right with Amarok when it comes to displaying embedded album art.
I'm running Banshee 1.6.1 on an AMD64 machine and I am having problems re-scanning my library. Every time I select Tools -> Rescan Music Library (even after making substantial changes to my library) the status bar disappears after a few seconds. Has anyone else witnessed this phenomena before? I can re-import my library to update the banshee database, but it would nice if this feature functioned properly.
I am moving to Banshee on all of my 10.04 systems (anticipating the future of Ubu). Banshee has been doing something I don't understand and which seems very wrong (and which is actually causing some problems, if minor). First let me explain the arrangement. I have a server with a music share we'll call server:/tunes. On all of the machines and for all the users there is a mount (/media/tunes/) for said share.
Additionally so that all users have the same transparent experience, each user has a shortcut at ~/Music/tunes (which points to /media/tunes/). Through this I don't need to alter the default library location and all of the music on the server is automatically part of every library (and all library content and playlists have the same paths). However, Banshee has decided for some files to do one of three things:
1. It points (correctly) to only ~/Music/tunes/path/to/song.flac 2. It points (wrongly) to only /media/tunes/path/to/song/flac 3. It points to both and there is a duplicate entry I have not knowingly given Banshee the path /media/tunes/anything.
For some reason, my Slackware 13.0 system has multiple problems. When I do ldd /usr/bin/X | grep libpixman I show a libpixman which is NOT in /usr/lib.
Just installed OpenSUSE 11.3 64-bit. I have a program that uses libjpeg, so I installed libjpeg and the dev modules. It has both version 6 and 8 installed. When I run my prog and try to access the lib I get this error: Wrong JPEG library version: library is 80, caller expects 62 This seems a common problem elsewhere. Anyone know how to fix it in 11.3 ?
I use EasyTAG to edit the tags of my music. I believed I could also use EasyTAG to remove embedded album art, but this is not entirely the case.EasyTAG appears able to remove references to an embedded image so that the image will not appear in audio players and tag editors. However, the image must still exist within the audio file because the file size remains exactly the same. Contrast this with Mp3tag where removing album art also decreases the audio file's size.My question: is this a bug on EasyTAG's part? If so, what Linux program could I use instead?
I use my ubuntu machine as a media player, and I'm using Rhythmbox for music. I still rip my cd's in Windows so when I get them to Linux I delete the cover art in the CD's map since I don't really care about the "coolness" factor .
Anyway, on some of the cd's there is still an album cover,(most of them downloaded from Jamendo) but searching ".jpg" in the music folder doesn't show the cover art. Is there any place where Rhythmbox stores the Album art so I can delete it? I'm using Ubuntu 10.04.
I downloaded banshee because i knew that could put movies on my ipod, but everytime i run banshee my ipod doesn't show up. i tried started it, then plugging it in and still didnt show up. Anyone knows what the problem is?
I'm looking for some pointers on a method to "transfer" the song-playing from my laptop to my PC, both running ubuntu. The use case is: I'm home listening to some song on the laptop. Then I realize how crappy the speakers are. Here's what I do *now*:
1. Stop playback on the laptop 2. Get up, go to the PC, open the music player 3. Find the same song 4. Try to find the same point in the song 5. Stop playback on the laptop 6. Start playback on the PC (the PC has good speakers)
Of course now I'm dreaming of having a "button" I push that does all this all by itself. Can anyone give me some pointers?
I'm trying to reorganize my files and organize my music on Rhythmbox, but I've run into a really annoying problem. The cover art for one song on a particular album isn't right. All the other songs in the album are displaying properly.
I have the album cover in the same folder that the music is in with the name "Cover.jpg".
I've tried about everything I can think of. I've tried renaming the image file, tried dragging it to the album art area in the player, and I've tried moving it to the Rhythmbox folder under the name "~/.gnome2/rhythmbox/covers/Artist Name - Album Name.jpg" (Of course inserting the correct album name and artist name exactly the way it is shown in Rhythmbox). It will change if I drag and drop it, but once I go back and play the song again, it will revert to the wrong cover art.
I was glad to see another release of exaile. I'm always happy to see improving mainstream desktop apps, especially when they start being much superior to their commercial counterparts in both, quality and quantity, of features. But as if developers are ignoring the simple usability problems - again - exaile like all other gnome music players (apart from amarok, but that's kde!) can't browse your library by album artist!
I've tried for some time now to get my Zen 16GB working properly with Ubuntu 10.04. I've tried Rhythmbox and this works for mp3s but album art is not transferring. I have latest 0.13 Rhythmbox and now at leat the mp3's go in directories under Music, but the .alb file is put a root and not ar is displayed.
I have tried gnomad2 and the latest (2.9.4?) crashes with 10.04 when reading the Zen. I can't drag and drop in nautilus and the it is connected as gphoto and the tags are not copied over. So, for all you Zen users.. how are you trandfering mp3's (with album art!) over to your Zen's?
i use sony's nwz video walkman, earlier when i used windows xp it was very easy to change album art. When windows media player is playing certain music file i used to drag and drop some jpg file as album art and then transfer the file into my walkman; but now in rhythmbox if i drag and drop it changes the album art momentarily but when i transfer the music into walkman it doesn't show that album art.
