CentOS 5 Server :: Wrong Mysql Client Api Version In Php53?

I have recently installed centos 5.6an app i have needs to run php 5.3 so i upgraded by adding a repo and using yum install php53*a php -v gives me this.PHP 5.3.3 (cli) (built: Mar 30 2011 13:51:41) Copyright (c) 1997-2010 The PHP GroupZend Engine v2.3.0, Copyright (c) 1998-2010 Zend Technologiesi also need mysql 5.1 so i picked a repo that had the 5.1 version of mysql in it and um install mysql*which gives me this.[root@localhost var]# mysql -Vmysql Ver 14.14 Distrib 5.1.52, for redhat-linux-gnu (i686) using readline 5.1and then tri to run my app and it failsthe only difference i see between the server that is current working and the new one is in the phpinfo file.in the mysql section of the working one it says Client API version. 5.1.xin the new server install it says the following which is still point to the client api or 5.0

Summary: Does a discrepancy between MySQL client library 5.0.x and MySQL server of 5.1.50 cause "inconsistent behavior", as reported by phpMyAdmin? The longer version: Windows Sysadmin taking the plunge into Linux. I tried to spare you all the rookie questions and did a fair bit of reading. I'm rather happy I was able to get CentOS 5.5 installed and running, configured iptables, got the kernel updated, Apache, MySQL and PHP installed. Then upgraded PHP to 5.2 after I figured out how repos and priorities work.
I got phpMyAdmin installed and running, then decided to upgrade from 2.11 to 3.3.7 but it keeps complaining that my MySQL client libraries are something like 5.0.63, while my server is 5.1.50, and this may cause "inconsistent behavior" or something of the like. So, feeling industrious, I decided to find an updated client.
MySQL-client-community-5.1.50-1.rhel5.i386.rpm
But it wouldn't let me install it as it conflicted with the default mysql-server installation. I also couldn't remove just the old client, to update to a newer one. So I blew away everything mysql on my server and installed the above client

and that server file. I'm assuming I'm missing dependencies now as phpMyAdmin claims it can't load the mysql extension. Attempting to 'yum' php-mysql tried to install 'mysql' as a dependency, which immediately conflicted with the files I'd installed. At this point I'm wondering if I'm closing in on successfully installing a version that phpMyAdmin doesn't complain about, or if I should even care that it is complaining and just go back to all the repo versions of everything.

i want to update php 5.1 to php 5.3 for wordpress installation but im facing problem in installation I have installed php 5.3.6-4 on centOS 5.6. When i try to install some modules of php then it gives an error

rpm -Va --nofiles --nodigest The program package-cleanup is found in the yum-utils package. I have reinstall it twice but each time i get same error.
Today I was trying to upgrade mysql and php.PhP went well, thats at the latest version, but the mysql went to 5.5x from REMI. This killed all my websites, no DB and worse.Well I typed the wrong this (totally my fault - serious EPIC FAIL)i typed yum remove mysql not downgrade...This removed plesk and a load of other stuff, and now im screwed.
i would like to upgrade my centos 5.3 with the oldest update from repository. (about 224 update)I would like to update all the system but keep freezed php and mysql.
I want to upgrade existing MySQL 5.0.77 version on CentOS 5 Red Hat Linux to MySQL 5.1.x. Is anybody have list of patches or upgrades to upgrade to MySQL 5.1.x?
Installed Zend Server CE on 10.04 - install mostly fine. But phpmyadmin shows this error; "Your PHP MySQL library version 5.0.83 differs from your MySQL server version 5.1.41" I have followed the Zend online docs and used a DEB install. Why would these versions be different?how do I fix it so that the two are in sync?
I want to upgrade mediawiki software from version 1.6 to version 1.16 . The newer version is supposed to be installed on another server. I am trying to migrate the old mediawiki mysql database with no success.
At the moment I am having a problem with the MySQL server on my VPS. It's a completely fresh install of both Debian 5 and MySQL but the problem is upon logging in I get:

My Fedora Core 8 server came with OpenSSH Server 4.7p1 installed. I could not find a YUM package or RPM for 5.2p1, so I installed it manually and rebooted. Now if I do a version check with "sshd -v", it reports it's version as "OpenSSH_5.2p1", but if I connect with Putty, it reports "SSH-2.0-OpenSSH_4.7". Do I have two versions of OpenSSH running or what's going on?
I have CentOS 5.4 installed with lighty and MySQL installed via yum. not a problem. The issue become when I'm having problem with the current mysql that I installed via yum which I believe its currently at version 5.1.42-2. So I'd like to upgrade it to the latest available version of mysql. Except I can't figure out whether to download the generic glibc32 version or just get the RHEL5 version or find the mysql enterprise version somewhere. So, not knowing what I'm doing, I downloaded the RHEL5 version since it's closer to CentOS 5.4. Except for whatever reason the mysqli is not installed or configured properly and I'm not sure how to fix it.
Any suggestion? Everything was working nicely when I used yum to install, except the problem with the version of mysql that's offered in the repository. So I'd like to request a suggestion on how to either somehow upgrade mysql using yum and there's a different repository that I didn't know, or perhaps download a proper latest and greatest mysql, install and have it configured so that mysqli work properly.

I just configured a complete Cent OS 5.2 system for use as a web server. I can configure Apache and PHP but MySQl seems to be causing some issues -

I am using CentOS5 and installed the MySQL for server during the installation. I can set up and use MySQL databases. But I cannot make it startup everytime the server restarts. And quite a lot of methods need this folder "support-files/mysql.server", while my set up cannot find this. I am wondering if my installation of the MySQL for server is complete or not.
I have a Nis server on Suse 11 which is configured using Yast and nis clients on Suse and CentOs .All clients which is on the Suse Os is working fine. But on CentOs , users couldn't login using nis username.I have mounted home directory using nfs in fstab . I can switch to nis users homedirectory only when i am root. But nis users could'nt login on reboot.' ypcat passwd username ' is showing the output . No selinux is enabled in the client .Is there is any problem with Suse server to Centos Client in nis ??
This is my first post, I hope I'm the the right place. I installed mysql mysql-server php-mysql perl-DBD-mysql libdbi-dbd-mysql via "yum install -y" on a server running CentOS 5.3 X86_64 The install completes successful with no errors, but once I start mysqld via "chkconfig --level 35 mysqld on" ; "service mysqld start" There are no errors in /var/log/mysqld.log netstat shows mysqld listening on 3306 and localhost is in /etc/hosts

I have this server that runs Tomcat . this server sends mail with localhost as MTAthe local MTA is sendmail (with the default settings) . from time to time i have this strange thing and the emails it sends never reach the destination. the log shows it left the server , but looking at the logi see that the time on the log is wrong . sometime its correct and ometines its +2 hours. i guess this email are bounced at the destinationfor sending at future time . all this email that didnt reach the destination have this in common
I've installed CentOS 5.3 on a machine, and I need a Samba version 3.2 or higher. Since 3.4 is out, I thought I'd grab that. But, "yum list|grep samba" gives me only version 3.0.33. Is there a package of Samba I can grab that will upgrade the 3.0 installation so that I don't have two laying around? If not and I need to compile from source, do you have any suggestions for what arguments I should give configure? I'm not used to Linux coming from the BSD world
I'm quite new to Linux/CentOS. I installed LAMP from official CentOS repositories and I'm wondering why the PHP (5.1.6) or MySQL (5.0.77) versions are so old. Why there is now the latest versions available.
Is it recommended to use these versions or should I update to the newest one - if so could you plesae provide me some links to official repositories&tutorials.
I have a CentOS + Samba server and Windows XP client machines. Users, passwords and permissions are entered on the server machine.users and passwords ( same as on the server ) are entered in the XP client machine.When attempting to access a public file on the server using a XP client machine and the IP address of my server, I am asked a user name and password and none of the already entered seem to work. I cannot access the server file (prompted again and again to enter user name and password). What did i miss

I have just installed CentOS 5. I have set mysql database to access from remote machines. But now the problem is it is not connecting from the local machine now.
I think this goes here, but I'm not sure. I decided that XAMPP had been troublesome enough. MySQL never worked. So I decided to instal the LAMP stack offered by YaST. I went about installing it thinking that it would all work. But it seems that I was wrong. So I try to start mysql, and here's what I get:
