Apr 21, 2011I'm running a linux cloud server with the following config
1.2ghz Processor allocation
752MB Ram
The site loads slow and clicking a link almost freezes the page for a second. Also, the page loads could be much faster. We've been running mysqltuner and have pretty much optimized all slow queries. Is there anything we can do to fine tune the server for faster and more responsive?

Jul 29, 2010Running slackware13.1 with mysql on box2 and apache on box1 both in same lan. How do i configure mysql for apache connection? I have looked at many mysql config. howto which i can follow but i'm confused about whether the connection type is considered remote connection because the 2 services are on seperate boxes but are in same lan? Apache will be serving public webpages not just to the lan.

May 25, 2009I run mysqld on another server. I just switched to another dedicated server now, and i'm having trouble connecting to the mysqld server. If i run the php script from the bash console( php connect.php ) it works perfectly and connects to the mysqld server. However, if i run the script from apache ( http://localhost/connect.php ) it returns this: Can't connect to MySQL server on '(mysqld real ip)' (13) Mysql connection from another server(old httpd server) works perfectly, so it's not from the database server.

General :: MySQL And Apache Configuration For Busy Server?
Mar 4, 2011I need to tune the mysql and apache server for the comparatively busy webserver. My scenario is like this.
1. The Web request is around 2000 request at a time or more.
2. Each web request will generate one mysql query.
3. The query to database is all read.
4. This server load will be at peak for around 3-4 hours after that the load will subside. As the task will be published, around 300,000 will be viewing the page.
5 quad servers are deployed, load is balanced via DNS but performance is not as expected. Centos 5.5 is used as OS. Top command shows The mysql process is around 185%!

Jul 17, 2010I just installed Centos 5.5 on one of my systems today and something is eluding me. Basically I had a web site and forum software (phpBB, but I don't think it's that, other forum software like Xoops does the same thing) running on Fedora 13, and I copied it over to the new Centos installation. Apache is running fine and displays a PHP test file and .html files just fine.
MySQL seems to be fine, I can log into that, show databases etc. Just can't get any forum software to know there is MySQL there. I did change the path of the site, and the databases, and edited /etc/my.cnf and /etc/httpd/conf/httpd.conf to reflect that. Thought I made the needed changes in /etc/php.ini but who knows. Seemed like everything should have tar'd up and moved easy, but not the case...

2. Next i need to add BIND to both my Load Balancers with master/slave backup and replication...

Sep 18, 2010Summary: Does a discrepancy between MySQL client library 5.0.x and MySQL server of 5.1.50 cause "inconsistent behavior", as reported by phpMyAdmin? The longer version: Windows Sysadmin taking the plunge into Linux. I tried to spare you all the rookie questions and did a fair bit of reading. I'm rather happy I was able to get CentOS 5.5 installed and running, configured iptables, got the kernel updated, Apache, MySQL and PHP installed. Then upgraded PHP to 5.2 after I figured out how repos and priorities work.
I got phpMyAdmin installed and running, then decided to upgrade from 2.11 to 3.3.7 but it keeps complaining that my MySQL client libraries are something like 5.0.63, while my server is 5.1.50, and this may cause "inconsistent behavior" or something of the like. So, feeling industrious, I decided to find an updated client.
MySQL-client-community-5.1.50-1.rhel5.i386.rpm
But it wouldn't let me install it as it conflicted with the default mysql-server installation. I also couldn't remove just the old client, to update to a newer one. So I blew away everything mysql on my server and installed the above client

and that server file. I'm assuming I'm missing dependencies now as phpMyAdmin claims it can't load the mysql extension. Attempting to 'yum' php-mysql tried to install 'mysql' as a dependency, which immediately conflicted with the files I'd installed. At this point I'm wondering if I'm closing in on successfully installing a version that phpMyAdmin doesn't complain about, or if I should even care that it is complaining and just go back to all the repo versions of everything.

Aug 24, 2010Has anyone tried downloading all the different releases of the mysql source code and creating a .sh script to switch between them? Will it work well? I would imagine there would be issues with library linkage and compatibility? The issue I'm having is a client was running mysql 5.0.x and I was on 5.1.x - my tests pass on my server but not on his. Both my development machine and my continuous integration server where the tests run all use the latest. Do I have to purchase a server for every combination of software configuration I want my application to support? Or can it be emulated with virtual machines or something?
Same for PHP. I want to essentially have this happen:
Basically looping thru all combination, would I have to set up a virtual machine? Or would that even work?

Feb 22, 2011I've been attempting to set up a LAMP for local web development, which meant installing mysql-server. But now have a problem when trying to run mysql, I get:-
ERROR 2002 (HY000): Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket '/var/lib/mysql/mysql.sock' (2)
When trying to downgrade mysql-server I saw that there are dependency problems between the various modules (but can't recall which). But whichever route I truied the results are always the same.
Thought about trying XAMPP but I note that even has it's problems, is there any way I can get a lamp set up on FC14, or must I give it up as a bad job.
Howver, just been trying to again to fix the problems with downgrading mysql and get:-

May 2, 2009Been away for awhile (Fedora 5 or 6 was what I last ran). Just downloaded Fedora10 and installed it on a drive here, running great, looking slick. What drove me back to Fedora (Linux) is my need to create a simulated webserver to locally test stuff without messing up my live site. I had successfully installed php and mysql, using the specific versions my host uses. I then downloaded the RPM of the specific apache instal, followed the install directions and ran into a snag. Last step, says, "$ PREFIX/bin/apachectl start". I did that and received an error. Tried just typing apachectl start, and it worked. Upon my surprise it loaded Apache 2.2 (mine was a 1.3 release), and of course is Fedora-branded.
My questions are as follows:
Do I know somehow how two versions of Apache on? How do I start up the 1.3 one if so?
If not - How can I remove the 2.2, and what will have become of the 1.3 I installed?

I went about installing it thinking that it would all work. But it seems that I was wrong. So I try to start mysql, and here's what I get:

I wanted to test the Apache server on my laptop only by putting an html file in /var/www/html and naming it as index.html. I want this index.html page to be displayed when I put www.chaalu-kam.com in my browser. What should I do? My firewall is off too
