I seen X windows ran on a server and it even let me install firefox so what can i do to install X windows?

CentOS 5 Server :: VsFTP Iptables Wont Start Get Error - CentOS 5.5
May 11, 2011i am currently trying to install vsFTP onto my new linux server and btw i just started using linux today this is my first time using linux so i got the ftp installed good it got downloaded and everything then i went to open a port for my server for vsFTP i used this comand to open it "-A RH-Firewall-1-INPUT -m state --state NEW -m tcp -p tcp --dport 21 -j ACCEPT" then i closed it by pressing ESC then :wq! and it brought me back to my comand line again so now when i try to start the ip table thing with the comand "service iptables start" then when i execute that comand putty respondes with this "Applying iptables firewall rules: iptables-restore: line 1 failed [FAILED]"

Sep 22, 2011I'm experimenting with CentOS DS and have a question.Is it possible to attach windows xp machines to a CentOS DS? If so, how?!I think I've skimmed most of the documentation out there. Did I miss something? Is this not what the DS was designed to do?

I installed mysql mysql-server php-mysql perl-DBD-mysql libdbi-dbd-mysql via "yum install -y" on a server running CentOS 5.3 X86_64 The install completes successful with no errors, but once I start mysqld via "chkconfig --level 35 mysqld on" ; "service mysqld start" There are no errors in /var/log/mysqld.log netstat shows mysqld listening on 3306 and localhost is in /etc/hosts

Nov 3, 2009I have a CentOS + Samba server and Windows XP client machines. Users, passwords and permissions are entered on the server machine.users and passwords ( same as on the server ) are entered in the XP client machine.When attempting to access a public file on the server using a XP client machine and the IP address of my server, I am asked a user name and password and none of the already entered seem to work. I cannot access the server file (prompted again and again to enter user name and password). What did i miss

then i see the textmode and type in "startx" and "init 5" but nothing happens but i can see this:

Sep 2, 2010Good evening, I get the following error when prompted for my user name and password credentials that have access to the domain rights on the server. After typing in root and the password I get the following.
"The specified computer account could not be found. Contact an administrator to verify the account is in the domain. If the account has been deleted, unjoin, reboot and rejoin the domain."

CentOS 5 :: DNS Server - Gets A Timeout Error
Jun 8, 2011One person using our DNS servers reported a very curios problem. When he tries to access [url] he gets a timeout error. I tried loading the site using chrome, firefox and ie8 and I get the same results.

Mar 12, 2011i have a centos 5.5 server running tomcat,oracle xe,apache etc..i would like to be able my windows machine to access this server by name, and not ip, for example have http://backserv:7080 for oracle xe web admin and so on..i know one way is DNS, but if i install oracle on a windows machine in peer-to-peer network, i can allready access with by it's name. o i'm guessing i should do something with samba, wins or something like that.never mind i got now for the REAL complex stuff of insalling web sphere 7 without user interface (need to look for a response file).
