Mar 13, 2009I am facing problem in postfix. I am using centos5.2.My postfix was running well but some strange problem it failed today.after that I wanted to restart postfix service , it does not restrat. But the postfix process is found in the process list( take memory and cpu ). Then i want to reinstall the postfix.The progress bar show it completed but not showing the completed message. I wait long time for the completion message but not display it and not return to command promt.When I cancel the command( ctrl+c) then the following error message is displayed:error: %post(postfix-2.3.3-2.1.el5_2.x86_64) scriptlet failed, signal 2For your information this is the process of installation:
yum install postfix

Jan 7, 2009I have yum installed mysql 5 on Centos5 and I can successfully run queries through shell.However, I want to now allow external access to mysql via some mysql tools (Mysql Administrator/Mysql Query Browser) which is on some windows machines on the same network.Mysql is running on port 3006.When i try connecting through mysql Admin i get the following:Could not connect to the specified instance.MySQL Error Number 2003Can't connect to MySQL server on 'ipaddress' (10065)If you want to check the network connection, please click the Ping button.Googling this I get the impression its something port related, but I have tried what I have found and still no go.When I ping the server I get:

Jul 14, 2010I am using CentOS5 and installed the MySQL for server during the installation. I can set up and use MySQL databases. But I cannot make it startup everytime the server restarts. And quite a lot of methods need this folder "support-files/mysql.server", while my set up cannot find this. I am wondering if my installation of the MySQL for server is complete or not.

I installed mysql mysql-server php-mysql perl-DBD-mysql libdbi-dbd-mysql via "yum install -y" on a server running CentOS 5.3 X86_64 The install completes successful with no errors, but once I start mysqld via "chkconfig --level 35 mysqld on" ; "service mysqld start" There are no errors in /var/log/mysqld.log netstat shows mysqld listening on 3306 and localhost is in /etc/hosts

I went about installing it thinking that it would all work. But it seems that I was wrong. So I try to start mysql, and here's what I get:

Mar 3, 2011I am trying to see if a can get a centos 5.5 server setup as an smtp store and forward spamfilter by following the Centos Wiki and the freespamfilter.org guide by Mr88Talent at [url], which relates to another linux distro.
The spamfilter is essentially working! however, i have one issue with DCC.

Any opinions on this setup or just a total slating of everything i have done wrong would be welcome as i don't want to waste time trying to use a setup that is just not going to be practical or reliable to maintain / keep operational.
I have read that yum update can break this type of system - which concerns me.
The intended use of the spamfilter is for a small business (only about twenty e-mail accounts). However, they still need to reliably receive e-mails (hopefully with less spam though).

Mar 22, 2009To clustering my web server so that it becomes Highly available. Its currently running php, apache and mysql with no redundancy in place. I want to be clustered so that if one node goes down then the second one will automatically take over. I have done that with HA in RHEL but I want to use centos clustering solution for this. Also how willl they share the web contents and mysql database among two nodes I have no idea. I have managed a iscsi target to store contents but it doesn't work as expected.

Feb 22, 2011I've been attempting to set up a LAMP for local web development, which meant installing mysql-server. But now have a problem when trying to run mysql, I get:-
ERROR 2002 (HY000): Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket '/var/lib/mysql/mysql.sock' (2)
When trying to downgrade mysql-server I saw that there are dependency problems between the various modules (but can't recall which). But whichever route I truied the results are always the same.
Thought about trying XAMPP but I note that even has it's problems, is there any way I can get a lamp set up on FC14, or must I give it up as a bad job.
Howver, just been trying to again to fix the problems with downgrading mysql and get:-

Requires: mysql(x86-32) = 5.1.55-1.fc14

Apr 11, 2010I've tried /etc/init.d/mysql start, and it actually starts, or at least, it doesn't error out. But when I do pgrep mysql I get nothing, and when I try to login with mysql -p as root, I get

None of my other logins work, either, but since pgrep mysql didn't work, it's clear that MySQL just isn't running. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling mysql-server via apt-get, but I get the same thing. The logs in /var/log/syslog show this:

Mar 18, 2010I'm looking for a way to put a MySQL database in a server's memory. The disks aren't fast enough to keep up with the usage and I don't feel like going for a splitted web&db server yet because of the costs.
Because this involves risks (unless there's a way to read from the memory and write to the memory AND disks?), so I'd prefer that the DB gets copied automatically every hour or so to the local disks.

Jun 13, 2009I setup mysql v5 on centos, follow all the instruction i was able to google for to enable remote access, I am able to log in to -h localhost and -h (external IP address) from same server, I am able to telnet to 3306 using localhost and external ip address, BUT when I try to connect from deferent server i get host unreachable error H3000 (113) and telnet also is not able to connect via port 3306 I covered all the bases but stii no luck. same setup works for slackware no problem and there is no issue with client.
