CentOS 5 Server :: Multiple Html Folders For Sandbox Server?
Aug 30, 2010
I am running Centos 5.5 with Apache 2.2.3, MySql 5, and PHP 5.1.6. I am migrating a Drupal installation to the default html folder for development purposes. I am very new to server management, and a bit lost.I want to install some other web sites on the sandbox server to experiment with before uploading them to a Production environment. Is it possible to have multiple html folders? Or to use symlinks to point to the folders where the other web sites will reside?
We have too many audio Paths, for each user have one. We would like to create a unique folder to Read in network.
For example:
The idea is Mapping all folders to the path /pub/Music in server, so all user can access all music online in the server.
Very Well. How we can do it?
And when pc1 and pc2 have the same subfolder, like Beatles, and in the subfolder have different folders ( PC1-Beatles/Revolver ) (PC2-Beatles/Habbey_Road) or The same folder (PC1-Beatles/The_Mistery_Magic_Tour) (PC3-Beatles/The_Mistery_Magic_Tour)...
I have a web server running and want to take a html page, convert it to pdf, and then display it back to the user. I need some help finding free command-line software that can do that. The cgi scripts are written in C. I've seen some hits on html2pdf,
I am having a time at trying to get a simple FTP setup to my Var/www/html folder for my canned Joomla website. I can log in anon with no write permissions, but it will not log in using any users I have setup on the server. I've googled a bunch, but nothing to correct my 530 authentication failure when I try to log in as one of my user accounts for the server.
Basicly just installed a fresh version of Cent OS 5.4 with apache httpd installed automaticly during the installation. The http daemon is running and when navigating to localhost i get the welcome cent os apache page thingy. The problem is when i put an index.html file in /var/http/www then try and navigation to localhost I get a 403 forbidden error.
I need to create a sandbox environment on my LAMP server for PHP/MySql development. Anyone who could point me in the right direction or share their insight?
Does anyone know if it would be possible to do this? I read of people who have run Windows Server 2003 under qemu.. but i was wondering if i could get it easily to work in a secure sandbox, so i could run it as a internet server - knowing that it was secure and no one could then hack my computer.
I have an intermittent issue with with Samba. I can access my samba share with windows xp and vista using windows networking and even by mapping the share to a drive. The problem is that the files and folders disappear inadvertently and I can only access them again if I open the share again from the start with windows explorer. Selinux is disabled and the firewall ports for samba are open. The following software is installed:
have to create a webhost on an running fedora server which runs multiple webpages + a coldfusion serveri have to add an coldfusion virtual host to these.what i would do:*crate a new user & group*enter vhosts.conf and copy an existing host and modify it for the new one.*create an new folder and copy the main files (phpstarter and webroot) *chown the files for the right useri think an apache graceful would be needet
I am tring to run a few game servers on CentOS 5.5, this is a headless server I am renting and I do have root level access and am able to install or run anything. For me to run a game server I need issue the following command: ./r1q2ded-x86_64 +set dedicated 1 +set ip 69.172.231.46 +set port 27911 +set game lithium +exec server.cfg &
I have a secondary IP (external/Internet, not LAN) for a CentOS box, what do I need to do to make the server bind to that IP as well as it's primary one?
I use Samba, NFS, RSync and FTP/TFTP in my multi-location setup.
Is there a CentOS standard place to put my sharable file space? I've seen /usr/local/, /var, /var/samba, /user and /share. I have gotten to the point of preferring /share, but I want my servers to adhere to standards in case I am not available. Another alternative is to create a user name that matches the group name and using that user's home directory for the shared file space. This would solve the issue of shared departmental mailboxes and backups, not to mention (though apparently, I'm going to) SELinux configuration... Maybe I've just answered my own question...
My 5.5 server has crashed on my multiple times over the past few weeks. I have 2 terabyte drives mirrored. It automatically reboots and seems to run fine after rebooting.I've attached a copy of the /var/log/message to this post.I was unable to paste file.I'm not if a bad disk is causing the problem or not.
I've currently got a centos server setup in my home. It has 1 website running on it and I am using DynDNS.com's service to access the server. DynDNS works by redirecting a free url to the IP address of your server. I would like to add a second website under a different url. However, I'm not sure how to add a second IP address (which I would then use with DynDNS to create a new url).
We have to install centos 5.5 in approx 60 servers and we want to have a server in which we can create an image of 1 server and deploy it on all other severs through pxe. Mainly all servers will be having raid 5 or raid 1 configured. So the utility should be having the raid support.
My server is really slow. When I did a top -c or ps aux, below shows up. Shouldn't there be only one? Shall I kill all those processes and leave only one?
so the emails no matter which domain receives the email trscookie always will receive the email.
However I am unable to work out how to 'reverse' this process, for example.
If i was to go to secondserver.com/webmail I would like the emails to get sent from trscookie@secondserver.com however they are currently all coming from serverone.com. Is it possible to configure this so that it is sent from the correct domain?
I want to know How to set up Subversion server to run Multiple Projects? I want something to manage it over the web or manage it over kloxo as I am currently using control panel kloxo.
I was just wondering if someone could tell me the best method to connect all my hardwares together to achieve better result.HARDWARES.Cable ModemNETGEAR ROUTERNETGEAR FS728TS Smart switchLINUX SERVER WITH 2NICS.I want my dhcp server to serve 3VLAN networks. I need someone to show me how to do this. What do I need to do. keep in mind, I want eth0 to be used for public address only while eth1 for LAN. DHCP will be on eth0, but I need LAN on eth1 to be relayed back to eth0. This is my school project.
I had a running server (mandrake10.1) that I wanted to transfer to a better version of linux, so, I decided to install in a new hard drive the new version and adding as slave the old hard drive that it contended data files. When I finish all the installation I start to try to find the old data files but I din't find, (/dev/hdb), the hd is mounted already, but when I look inside all files are hide.
I've got a machine running Ubuntu Server that is on several VLANs. Each VLAN has its own subnet and the server has an address on each subnet. The switches are set to allow tagged traffic to the server for each VLAN that it is on. Switch ports ending with workstations are given untagged ports on whatever VLAN is appropriate. Workstations are given addresses on a subnet for each VLAN via DHCP. All this works great and hosts on any subnet/VLAN can access the server as normal via its address on that subnet/VLAN.
Accessing the machine by its address on a non-local subnet is where I run into a problem. Inter-subnet traffic has to go through a router, which has been set up appropriately. Running tcpdump on the server and pinging it from a workstation on a subnet, using its address on a different subnet, shows the server receives the ping, but sends no response:
Code: sudo tcpdump -i vlan4 -n tcpdump: verbose output suppressed, use -v or -vv for full protocol decode
In my production setup, i have 3 servers using the same mount point. However, i see that the IOPS is low. Does this kind of architecture have any impact on IOPS. In case it is neutral, how can i tune my setup for better IOPS.
i have been trying to complete the following project1) Configure a FTP server where we can upload and download files.........2) server must run at 9 pm & stop at 9 am automatically ............although the first task was easy ,i have no idea how to accomplish the 2nd task(not to mention I'm a new user)
I have an issue with users logging into a server. There are multiple (5 or so) database admins that have to log into a windows 2003 server and from there log into a red hat server. Once they are in the rhel box they execute an app (let's say xclock) that gives them an xwindows session on their desktop. Currently only one person can do this at a time, but they have asked me to configure it to allow multiple users to log into the red hat box from the windows server and run an xwindow.
i have setup mailrelay using postfix and relay email to exchange server. The problem is how can i relay email to multiple exchange server. For example: -
domain aa.bb.com relay to exchange server 10.10.10.10 domain 123.test.com relay to exchange server 192.168.10.5
I'm trying to setup RAID 1 on a CentOS 5 server for a zimbra email server.I get a partion schema error. Can I do this? The server is a HP Proliant ML150 G3 server with two 80GB HDD.
I've been scanning the apache2 docs for the past few days and have not come up with an answer my following issue:
In my httpd.conf file, at the very end, I have the line
Include conf/vhosts/vhost_*.conf
However, when I run apache checkconfig or try to start apache, it gives me the error:
httpd: Syntax error on line 993 of /etc/httpd/conf/httpd.conf: Could not open configuration file /etc/httpd/conf/vhosts/vhost_1.conf: Permission denied
It appears as if the Include line is correct - in terms of it grabbing the first virtual host conf file. However, I'm confused on the permissions. the /etc/httpd folder is owned by root:root, as are the subfolders. As a test, I chown'd the conf/vhost folder combination and all the vhost files to apache:apache to see if that made a difference, and it appeared to make no difference at all. The log files don't contain anything (assumed because apache isn't starting). If I place the contents of the vhosts in a singular vhosts.conf it works - with the permissions set to root:root. I'd like to avoid having to use one vhosts conf for the configuration I'm trying to achieve - as it would make my life a lot easier.
I need to know is there any way to record or tracking or make logging if when user samba delete files or folders i can know that, cause sometimeon samba server some users complain they lost files, though i have daily backup and i can restore their files, i just want to know if or maybe some other users in one group accidentally move or delete the files.

./configure.rb --with-apr-includes=/usr/include/apr-1 checking for a BSD compatible install... /usr/bin/install -c checking whether we are using gcc... yes
