I would like to have a step-by-step setup of centos 5.5 with iRedMail 0.7, but for only ipv6.

I've been using IPv6 on my local network and through a Hurricane Electric IPv6 tunnel. I've heard that one of the built in features of IPv6 is encryption, both scrambling the data and authenticating where the traffic came from. I've done some searching and heard of SWAN and Racoon, but some of the stuff I found is old and I would like to know what the easiest/best way to set up IPSEC for IPv6 is.

I used to play with gw6c ( a client for tunnel broker ) It works well with fedora9 , fedora 10, but not with leonidas. my rpm is gw6c-6.0-0.4.beta4.fc9.i386.rpm ( a little old!) when I tried to install i have got this: libcrypto.so.7 est ncessaire pou w6c-6.0-0.4.beta4.fc9.i386 I try to make a soft link to libcrypto.so.0.9.8k, but nothing; The question :-Is there a solution for that pb - did you know a better client for non native ipv6 connectivity?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have been struggling to get FC15 to act as an IPv6 router for a while now, am sure I am missing something trivial.. The idea is that I have a ppp / adsl connection (this works fine), use the wireless card on my pc with hostapd and dhcpd to provide connections to other pcs (works fine), and radvd to delegate ipv6 addresses.
The issue seem to be that as soon as I turn on ipv6 forwarding (net.ipv6.conf.all.forwarding =1), the ppp connection no longer gets an IPv6 address. This means the router cannot ping any ipv6 address outside my network.
If I disable ipv6 routing, my router gets an IPv6 address on its ppp connection, and can ping things such as ipv6.google.com just fine, however (of course) no packets are forwarded from my network and radvd complains that forwarding is disabled.
I've got a little server setup on my local network and I'm trying to configure it to use miredo. I've got my laptop successfully using it, but for some reason miredo gives this error when I try to start it:

I get the impression that ipv6 is not enabled on my server, but I'm not sure how I enable it short of doing a reinstall.
I have configured IPv6 in my main server and I can ping IPv6 address (eg. google). but I want to do the same on my VPS.What do I have to do to add an additional IPv6 IP to my already present VPS (IPv4 configured)?I tried the web, but no complete info of doing so anywhere.
View 1 Replies View RelatedNow that IPv6 is becoming more and more common, I found the need to disable IPv6 on some interfaces but have it enabled on other. I found that /proc/sys/net/ipv6/conf/*/disable_ipv6 does exactly that. I am now wondering if anybody knows, why are networking scripts so counterintuitive. /etc/sysconfig/network has an option:
NETWORKING_IPV6=yes
All this option does is disable some ipv6 services (dhcpv6...), it does not disable IPv6 in whole (as one would assume...that's why you had to disable it with module parameters). Searching for more IP6 related config option, one can find that /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-* scripts can contain:
IPV6INIT=yes
Again, this option does not disable IPv6 protocol on the interface, it just skips running ifup-ipv6/ifdown-ipv6 scripts. I added a /sbin/ifup-pre-local. Now, this script runs before ethX entries are created (other scripts run when it's already too late) in /proc directory, so it modifies default values which are then used after those entries are created:

I am setting up a CentOS box as a NAT firewall that needs to also send mail. It needs to send this mail using an outside provider's SMTP. The provider requires SMTP over SSL. None of the machines inside the NAT will ever send mail except via the provider's SMTP nor will they ever receive mail except to local clients via the provider's IMAP servers.
So for the example the machine is TESTMACHINE. There is one internet facing ethernet port connected to a DSL modem via pppoe.
The SMTP it needs to send mail via is mail.host.net which requires SMTP over SSL (port 465) and username/password authentication.
The sendmail documentation is quite confusing on how to get this simple setup operating, so an example showing the appropriate changes to sendmail.mc and other require config files.
We are trying to set up a NIS server on a CentOS system. We need to have a NIS server which can provide NIS authentication to a couple of clients. We are practically new to all this stuff.
Just googled to find some ideas about installing ypserv and ypbind and portmapper. We did all that and also started them successfully. But now the clients are not able to join to the NIS domain . The error log states "YP_DOMAIN NOT BOUND".
I guess we have not entered the /etc/yp.conf, /etc/hosts files properly. Please let us know the detailed steps to setup a NIS server .
Also, please let us know what entries should go into the different /etc/<file_names>? What is meant by HOSTNAME in the /etc/hosts file?
Is there any other files which need to be changed? Are we missing any steps?

I currently have a home server, running Gentoo, with IPv4 connectivity through Qwest.I feel that it is important that this server also be available through IPv6 (I'm aware that, after exhaustion, my end still might not get an address through DHCP).I currently use dyndns.org to provide me with a DNS entry mapping jrvanwhy.homelinux.net to my IPv4 address.I do not have any sort of tunnel set up yet for IPv6 traffic yet. The new domain name does not necessarily have to be the same [URL].I do not wish to spend any money on this.Is there some free service I can register for that would do both the tunneling and the DNS entry? Is there a service that can supply me with an IPv6 DNS entry, if I get a static IPv6 address with another tunnel broker, like Hurricane Electric?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI added an init script numbered just before bind9 starts, which needs to see the ipv6 link-local address on eth0. Sometimes this address is not configured, yet. In all cases it eventually is configured.
I am unable to find any script that is configuring the ipv6 link-local address (which is in part based on the MAC address). Does anyone know if there is some script or program that is supposed to be doing this, or is it an internal kernel function?
One workaround I am considering is making this init script go into a loop around sleep 1 to keep checking for the ipv6 address. But I'm concerned this might cause some problems. Any suggestions? I don't want to let it move on to start bind9 until the configuration this script does (more ipv6 addresses) is done.
This is on Ubuntu 9.10 server (for which there is not a prefix choice).

Linuxquestions--I posted this over on the CentOS forums, which are not as booming. Then I remembered these forums for when I had my VPS way back when and you guys were pretty helpful, of course expected me to mostly do my own reading which I dont mind its just having a hard time understanding some of the things in what I was reading. I even believe I came here with this problem before but abandoned the issue because my VPS was not powerful enough or something of the sort, but this was many years ago also on CentOS using apt. Now using yum which I like much better.
I am trying to set up a mail server on centos5 using sendmail and dovecot, and eventually spamassassin and some antivirus filter as well. I'd also like to get the proper secure auth mechanism set up at some point too. But for starters, I've been having a lot of difficulty trying to even connect to the mail server from a client computer in the local network. I installed Eudora on the client and after some tweaking in dovecot I was able to connect to the mail server, but then when I try to send an email I get a "connection refused" error, with nothing being logged on the server that I can see.
The last time I set up a mail server was Fedora Core 2, so the configuration files have changed a bit to say the least, and I can't really refer back to those to set up this new server. Does anybody know of a good step-by-step doc on getting the mail server going? I've read the man pages and other various readme's, but these really only list out the available options with no really good explanation of what needs to be done to get the mail server going. If there isn't a full write-up on how to do this, I'll put something together when I'm finished so others can use it in the future.

We are setting up a single staging server that will mirror the configurations of these servers as closely as possible. What is the easiest way to ensure the exact same software and configs as the production servers are setup on the new staging server. Our contracted data center provider has already informed us that they do not perform images and NO we do not have physical access to the machines. It is undetermined whether we will be virtualizing the staging server into two virtual servers yet, so for the purposes of this post lets assume we are not. I'm seeking a faster/more precise method than doing this by eye and hand.

I am currently involved in setting up an openldap server on a CentOS platform. I am having some issues with getting it set up to the point that I can remotely manage the server via phpldapadmin in a web browser. I am running into an issue when starting the slapd daemon.

View 1 Replies View Relatedon my server I have atMail and a intranet site being hosted using mySQL for the database locally, and obviously backing it up would be a good thing. I got the backup package from the list if you use the add/remove software called dump-0.4.etc.. can't seem to find much on how to use it, set it up, nothing. Granted I could be looking for the wrong thing which I'm sure is the case. As of now it's looking like a USB drive is going to be my only option, that will change in the future as this "project" goes further (we are a windows shop trying out Linux, and the next step is going to be adding another server that's a file server at that point we'll probably go to NAS for the backup and then transer that to a USB for offsite/secondary backup).
View 2 Replies View RelatedHave setup a CentOS 5.5 with IPSConfig that has been running for maybe 6 months, it was only intended to be a web server for multiple domains. Issue now is that a web developer has created a form that he is trying to email from the site, I did not have anything configured for mail and he does not care to write a script that would not require the mail service to be on the web server.
Have configured/reconfigured main.cf multiple times but no success.
Postfix appears to send the outbound email to the queue but never goes out. Have setup mail service for the domain "land***.com" in ISPConfig and tested with a single user created for the domain from the server.
What did I miss in the configuration to get "connection refused"?
