View 1 RepliesI've bought a HP Photosmart printer, HP Photosmart wireless e-All-in-One printer - B110a and i've got a problem installing it properly. I'm using Debian 6.0 Squeeze. When i connect the printer, Debian doesn't recognize my printer as the Photosmart B109 printer for unknown reason. When i go to the site of HP and search for a driver, it directs me to this site:I've downloaded that latest hplip file as a .run file and installed it. My printer is recognized proparly, but when i try to print a colored image, it comes out black/white. Something is not crrect. Does anyone recognize this problem with this type HP printer?
View 7 Replies View RelatedI just bought an HP Photosmart Plus B209a Printer. It does everything except actually print. It even says the job is �completed" but nothing was done. I repeated the installation 5 times with same results. Before buying, I tried to find out which printer worked. I was told by HP that all of their printers worked on Ubuntu Linux. Best Buy agreed. Is there a solution that I can understand, or must I give in and go back to dreaded Windows just so I can print? Printing seems to be a real Ubuntu Linux shortfall and major roadblock - at least from this Newbies'point of view. Is Ubuntu a poor choice for printing of the Linux options? I really want my Linux to work instead of being forced to return to The Dark Side.
I did this repeatedly: If your printer was not detected after a few moments, then you will need to follow these steps:
1.Obtain the model name of your printer.
2.Ensure the printer is turned on.
3.Choose System ▸ Administration ▸ Printing
4.Click New Printer.
I am trying to install my new HP Photosmart b110 All-in-one printer on my notebook, but it seems to be very hard...I have Opensuse 11.0 x86-64. I tried to install hplip from the web, but neither the 3.10.9 nor the 3.10.6 version works. Automatic installation is a disaster: the driver tries to resolve dependencies, which are impossible to resolve, probably because - I realized - support to opensuse 11.0 was stopped. So I tried with custom installation, avoiding all those features leading to strage dependencies, but also in this case I get an error: "make failed with exit status 2", or something similar...
should I necessarily switch to 11.2 or 11.3 version? in this case, is it possible to upgrade directly from 11.0 to 11.3 without loosing data..?
I have Ubuntu version 10.10 and I'm trying to install the HP DeskJet 1000 J110a printer. I have HPLIP version 3.11 (the latest version I believe). The printer shows up but when I try to print the error message reads: Printer requires the 'foomatic-rip-hplip' program but is not currently installed.

When I try to load up the printer driver downloaded from the Lexmark site I am asked to enter a root administrator password, but when I enter the password I used to setup the OS it will not accept it. It is a printer with standalone network capability and is connected directly to my router and has a static IP number. We have a few Windows computers at home and they had no problem detecting the printer, installing the drivers and working. Unfortunately my Ubuntu computer recognises the printer and I can even access it's setup and diagnositcs through its IP number. However when I try to add it as a printer, drivers for it cannot be located. #ve tried setting it up three ways:1. Using Samsung's own setup package - finds printer and all the details it needs to work but offers no drivers2. Using Ubuntu's printer setup - recognises printer but stalls at Searching for Drivers dialog3. Trying to *** printer using CUPS - no problem finding and recognising printer, but when I come to search for the driver I get Internal Server Error.
I have of course been trying to do all of these as root. That's the limit of my knowledge reached and searches on the net aren't helping me either. The printer works fine directly connected via USB, so the drivers are on the computer somewhere. How do I get them set up to use the printer on the network?

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a router that is 1000 Base T and two computers each with ethernet cards that support 1000 Base T. All are equipped with Cat 5e cable. Before I had a router that only went up to 100 Base T and I would setup one box with linux running proftpd. On the other box,I would use win xp pro and use firefox to ftp into the other box and download a file. Download speeds went up to 11.2 MB/sec. Now when I switched routers, I expected something like 120 MB/sec but I'm only getting 5.3 MB/sec. What do I need to change?

I recently changed my windows desktop pc from an XP machine to a vista 64 machine... It has a different user name. Everything went pretty smoothly - and the and the vista machine found the smba printer - and even downloaded the driver from the samba server. he printer works OK - and the file shares are fine.
The only thing which is quite odd - is that the Printer Properties dialogue takes more than 30 seconds to come up - and every action you attempt with the dialogue takes a similar amount of time.
I will include below the essence of my smb.conf:
hplip-3.10.5.run is the name of the file.

Whatever, I got Samsung SCX-4623F (and I will hate myself till end of my life to buy such retarded device), and now I can't seem to figure out how to get it started in Fedora 14. I dont need scanner, just printer. Naturally, there are no native drivers for linux, and I have cups installed and Printing tool in System->Administration doesnt do anything.

I have a Samsung CLP-315 that I need to configure first as a local printer then as a wireless network printer. I found the software (.bin file) on the Samsung site and downloaded it but that's as far as I got. Can I use any of the GUI package managers or do I need to use Terminal and command line syntax? View 2 Replies View RelatedI heard that the new release would work smoothly and decided to install fc15 on 5 computers at once (four 64-bit AMDs running RAID and an old 32-bit Compaq laptop). I now have only 1 of 4 printers working. One was an old and slow but reliable HP6P and the others Samsungs of various ages. I tried the workaround suggested in another thread for the HP6P (using MAKEDEV to recognize the parallel port), but I'm still unable to install the printer--the installation hangs searching for a printer. And Fedora 15 has apparently broken the proprietary Samsung driver.
The only working printer at the moment is a Samsung 2250 (the oldest) which has an open source driver, and that one won't currently print from the internet (it used to under fc14). It's pretty sad when a new release breaks computers whose major function is effectively (or rather ineffectively) a typewriter. I've tried both local and network installations using Gnome, system-config-printer, and the Samsung Configurator, but nothing seems to work. I hope a fix is forthcoming from Red Hat, Samsung, or the readers soon. I need my typewriter.
I use Ubuntu Server 10.04 and would like to share my printer from it. I have a Canon Pixia MP270 and I can download the source drivers from URL...There is also a deb file driver download tested on ubuntu 9.04 but I fails to install.Im not worried about the scanner option on the printer I just want to be able to share the printer to my Windows 7 PC.
