CentOS 5 Hardware :: Techwell 6805 DVR Card In 5.5 For Zoneminder?
Nov 4, 2010
I just completed a build of CentOS 5.5 server to be used for Zoneminder using these awesome instructions: [URL]The problem I have is I am trying to use a DVR card that there must not be any drivers in the OS for. The card is an 8-port DVR card with a Techwell 6805 chipset. Using Ubuntu, I had to download the driver using this command "git clone git://gitorious.org/tw68/tw68-v2.git" I just wanted to try CentOS and see how it works out. I just dont know how to download the drivers for this card.
Running lspci gives this output for the card:
02:04.0 Multimedia video controller: Techwell Inc. Unknown device 6804 (rev 10)
02:04.1 Multimedia controller: Techwell Inc. Unknown device 6805 (rev 10)
02:05.0 Multimedia video controller: Techwell Inc. Unknown device 6804 (rev 10)

I have a camera in my house and would like to monitor it on my computer under Linux, but I am having problems with Zoneminder.I have a capture card with chip 878A (properly working), but Zoneminder don't show any image or data from the card.I installed Zapping (television program for Gnome) and the camera/card works, presented as device /dev/video0.I followed the steps in the Zoneminder's Wiki, but unsuccessfully.

I've decided to give ZoneMinder a try with a simple USB webcam that I've had laying around. I installed it in a VMware machine, but I could not get the webcam to "pass trough" to the virtual machine, so figured I would install ZoneMinder on the "regular" server...
I installed it, got annoyed, and autoremoved it. Now, I'm trying to reinstall it using
Code:
apt-get install zoneminder
and I'm getting a bunch of errors,
Code:
Setting up zoneminder (1.24.2-2build3) ...

I just installed/configured Apache and also installed/configured Zoneminder to the best of my knowledge. I know Apache is running because I can go to http://localhost and see the simple webpage I made. Zoneminder starts fine and I added a monitor (camera) but when I click Monitor-1 to try and view the camera, it gives me just a black box where I should see the video. I think I'm very close, what do I need to do? I confirmed that my webcam is attached to /dev/video0 which is what I have it set to in the Zoneminder options.

I have Zoneminder 2.24.2 installed. It seems to work, however, when a client computer tries to use IE explorer to view the the camera the frame rate refresh is very slow (once every 10 to 15 seconds). If firefox is used to view it, it works at normal frame rate. What causes this?

This is my first time installing zoneminder, just downloaded the latest version and trying it on my slackware 12 box. I tested the card I ordered with xawtv and was able to see video just fine.
Zoneminder seems to start fine but I can't get it to stream video.
[URL]
That's what I get when I try to view. I'm not sure if there is a log file I can check to see if there is an error.

8.04 permissions. I have had ubuntu 8.04 running Zoneminder 1.22.3 for over 2 years with a capture card and cctv cameras. I just bought a Trendnet IP512p camera. My zoneminder box will not connect to it. The main error I get is, [Restarting capture daemon for ipcam, shared memory not valid], I am wasting time with shared memory settings. I just booted a live cd of 9.10 with Zoneminder 1.22.3 that I remastered from another system and the IP camera works fine. (It ran all night in the live environment.) From that test I have concluded I have a permission problem in my 8.04 install that is not letting www-data (the ZM process) access what it needs to grab the stream. From the same box I can stream the camera to firefox while using vnc to connect to it.

I'm running a Debian installation from which I installed zomeminder using Synaptic Package manager. I fixed several issues with deprecated functions and other miscellaneous stuff. Finally have it working fairly well. However, not quite....zoneminder keeps hanging up as a review the captures in iceweasel. I click on the id field in the table and the event view shows up. After I review several, clicking the delete button on each to move forward Iceweasel hang up with the pinwheel spinning. I've installed from the CD the Centos version 5.5. When I try to connect to Internet I can't because I received some errors. I've the Intel Corporation 82801CAM (ICH3) PRO/100 VE (LOM) Ethernet Controller also a wireless slot (I've the wireless card DWL-G650+) When I turn on the pc and I go to "Ethernet Device", I see set: peth0 (Intel Corporation 82801CAM (ICH3) PRO/100 VE (LOM) ETHERNET CONTROLLER) and also set "Bind to MAC address": fe:ff:ff:ff:ff:ff I've set manually the IP address (I'm under router). Status is "Active" but can't go on the Net. When I change to "eth0 (Intel EtherExpress/100 driver)...sometimes become "Active" an other times said that the MAC address is different or to check the cable because can't find the IP. What can I do?

I currently have eight surveillance cameras setup that used to connect to a windows pc. I decided to throw away the old computer, take the dvr card from the old computer and use it in a new computer with ubuntu 9.10. However, till now I can't get the cameras to work.
I installed Zoneminder, and followed instructions from here and there with no useful results. What I currently have are monitors showing black screens, with the fps showing.
I am pretty much still a noob, so I am not sure where I went wrong. I do not get anything when i run XawTV (or maybe i don't know how to run it right).
when i run "lspci | grep Bt878" I get this
Code:
Following instructions from various places, this is what I have for the following files /etc/modules :
Code:
Code:
Code:
I followed the instructions for installing Zoneminder on Ubuntu 9.10: [url]
I also get some tips for setting up the tv card: [url]
What is confusing is I get a fps rate, which is a sign that the camera is working, but all i get is a black screen. The cameras used to work in the original windows setup, so i doubt that the cameras are not working.

After booting it isn't possible to surf to an internet location (p.a. www.google.com). It's also impossible to ping other machines in the network. After typing ifconfig everything seems to be ok.

I would like to add a PCI TV card to my CentOS box. My internet provider has given me a TV box (TV over ADSL) and even though I don't have / need a "real" TV set I would still like to be able watch TV on my desktop PC.
Could you recommend any cards/chipsets working well in CentOS? The card should have a tuner (one will do, there will be only one source, not a "real" antenna), and video/audio coming from the TV box (output from it has a SCART connector, but I can get an adapter for converting that into pretty much any other video output). Ideally it would have a DVB-T tuner as well as analog, but that's not strictly necessary since the TV is received by the ADSL box. I am thinking about Hauppage WinTV HDR-1100 [url] has anybody made that card work in CentOS?
On another note, there seem to be quite a few USB-stick like TV cards. Would that work in CentOS? I imagine that there isn't a great deal of hardware inside of these, and I don't want to upgrade the CPU because the machine needs to use a SW decoder.

I'm using the latest Centos on an older IBM server which only has USB1.1 ports, it works great and is very reliable. I would really like to add a USB2.0 card to the system. Can anyone recommend a reliable PCI card which will work with Centos, preferably one which does not require any special drivers to be loaded.
