Ubuntu :: Wireless Not Working While Using Transmission

I am using ubuntu netbook edition 10.04 on acer aspire one. My wireless is working perfectly when I am surfing the net or downloading ..... videos however when I use transmission (bit torrent) it will download for awhile then my wireless will not work and yet it shows that it is connected...then I have to reconnect again then the torrent starts downloading for awhile usually 1-2 mins then the wireless will fail again.
An interesting point to note: When I connect the ethernet cable to my netbook, bit torrent download perfectly it only happens when i'm using wireless. It is annoying how I have to physically connect my netbook to the modem to download bit torrent files.

I can only access the Transmission web interface while the Transmission-gtk client is running. When I close it, the web interface is no longer available. I try to manually start the transmission-daemon, but the process never shows up as running.

I did: sudo apt-get install transmission-daemon
On the same PC (as transmission-daemon) I tried http://127.0.0.1:9091/ but is not working. Why is not working out of the box ?

Two years ago I setup a small ARM based home server running Debian 7, the system ran an automated sftp backup from my phone, a transmission server and a VPN (open vpn).So anyway I upgraded my home PC and also upgraded the ARM home server to a GB-BXBT-1900 as I wanted to run some VM's.My only issue is that I have been unable to get transmission working the way i want it... For example I run my OS from a USB3 32GB sandisk drive, I then have a 500GB 2.5 laptop hard drive to store my VM's and transmission files, the VM's run perfectly fine when directed to read and write to the sata drive but no matter what I do I am unable to change the default transmission download directory.The moment i do this the download will start, hit around 4MB then pause.Amended chmod and chown on the directory ie /mnt/500/Downloads, also usermod -a -G debian-transmission myuser but nothing I do seems to work, if i leave it all to its default directorys on the USB drive it works but i just cant get this to work on the mounted drive.

I want to switch my laptop from XP to Ubuntu, but right now, i cant risk installing it. i dont want to have it partitioned so i can dual boot, so for now i only run the try-it-out mode.Before i consider installing though, i want to see if i can get everything to work ahead of time, that way im not regreting instalation. I have a Compaq Presario V2000 laptop, with 55GB hard drive and 516MB ram. So far, the trial mode is working great, but the wireless will not work. Ive tried to install the driver, but i am unable to do so. I have looked this up, and i have tried many things, and so far, none have worked.I was wondering if it was just part of the trial thing or not, but it is a Broadcom Wireless BCM4318 driver

For some reason, i just cannot get my wireless to work in xubuntu. When i click on the network-manager applet, it only has the wired network tab and VPN connections, there are NO wireless networks displayed. I have also tried iwconfig, which returned

When originally installing 11.04 I had problems getting my Ralink 5390 wireless card to work.
Today my computer froze completely and I had to turn it off via the power switch. When I turned it back on, wireless was no longer recognized! My iPod can connect to the network just fine, so it must be an Ubuntu problem. There are no problems with my ethernet connection either.
I researched this and found several threads about blocking and unblocking wireless devices using the rfkill command. Well, unfortunately for me the rfkill command doesn't work. When I type sudo rfkill list or sudo rfkill unblock all, nothing happens; it just returns me to my bash prompt. I even tried uninstalling and reinstalling rfkill...nothing.

I just got myself a Dell Inspiron 1440. And decided to install my favorite distro Debian. I got the installation to go with no issue and all seems to be working fine. However the wireless isn't working. NetworkManager doesnt even detect a wireless card. I followed the instructions here and installed the b43-fwcutter and then issued the modprobe b43 and modprobe b43legacy commands. Then I issued the iwconfig command and this was the output.

Also, I've been doing some research and found out about some file located /etc/udev/rules.d/70-persistent-net.rules. So I looked in mine and found out that only my eth0 is added.

I am running openSUSE 11.3 updated with all the latest patches and I cannot connect to my wireless router. I am running Linux Mint 10 on the same type of notebook HP Compaq 6910p and it worked right after the install. If I take off the security WPA & WPA2 Personal I can connect. lspci -v | less shows this for my wireless card.

I am using the same settings for both notebooks just can't figure out why openSUSE 11.3 won't connect. I get the prompt to key in my password, I've even checked the box to show password to make sure I was keying it in correctly. Everything was good but it just goes right back to the password prompt after it fails trying to connect.

I have just installed openSuse 11.4 KDE 64-bit on a Dell M1330. When I click on my networking panel, it says WLAN interface is unavailable. I've followed the steps in the stickied post and found the WLAN hardware info, a screenshot of which is below:Uploaded with ImageShack.usNext it says to do this - you need to look at the logs, in particular the info in /var/log/boot.msg. To see this, you need YaST => Miscellaneous => System Logs and select boot.msg.In YaST there is no such option for system logs under miscellaneous, so I can't do that. The results of the sudo /usr/sbin/iwlist scan command produce the following:

The wireless on my 64-bit openSUSE-11.2 installed on my Dell Studio 1537 laptop stopped working some time back (possibly more than a one or two months back). I just discovered this last week when on business. I have not used the wireless under openSUSE-11.2 for a while so I am not certain what broke it, but I am suspicious of an update. I note openSUSE-11.3 milestone-7 works great with the wireless (on a liveCD). I note possibly two related threads, although I note no failed request for firmware in my case:request for firmware file 'iwlwifi-5000-2.ucode' failed [INTEL 5300 AGN] [OPENSUSE 11.2] - openSUSE Forums, and I see another thread here: Suddenly No Wireless Network Card - openSUSE Forums... but I can not tell if what I have is the same problem, so I did not add to those threads. In my case I can scan for the network, and see the SSID. An ip address is assigned. But a ping does not work.

I have Lenovo G550 and openSUSE 11.4. Everything's ok, wifi without problems, I could connect to anywhere I wanted to, but yesterday while laptop was running and was connected actually by wire to internet, after removing the wire I realized that I cannot connect to wifi (the laptop was hibernated during night) - even the light diode in the front of the laptop was not shining. I went to yast and realized that the wlan0 isn't enabled and there's new eth1 port. But the wlan by ifup I cannot start and the eth1 I cannot start as well.

I have a strange problem with my laptop and need your help in resolving it...i am using a Dell Studio XPS 1645..i have got everything working except the wireless.. and the real problem here is that the wlan detects the network but does not connect to it and will keep on looping back and forward doing the same thing again and again..I am using Opensuse 11.4 with Gnome 3 Shell..here is details of the commands that i tried using to fix the issue

I followed the sticky about setting up wireless and I have come to an issue where the WLAN switch which is on this computer can be pressed, the light comes on, but no WLAN. When I looked in dmesg, this is what I get:
ipw2100: Detected Intel PRO/Wireless 2100 Network Connection
firmware: requesting ipw2100-1.3.fw
eth0: Radio is disabled by RF switch.
When running iwconfig wlan0 heres what I get:

wlan0 unassociated ESSID off/any Nickname:"ipw2100"
Mode:Managed Channel=0 Access Point: Not-Associated

Notice it says that the 'Radio is disabled by switch' in dmesg. I can press that switch until the end of the world comes and it does absolutely nothing but make the WLAN light put on a light show. And it shows the wlan to be unassociated with any clients. So, what are my options to get this Wireless up and working?

My wireless is not working after a fresh install of OpenSUSE 11.2. I cannot connect in KDE or Gnome. I installed cnetworkmanger and I can't get anything to connect. My wired network card on this laptop has been down for a long time. All I have is wireless. I have to roll back today to 11.1 if I can't fix it, but I really have been looking forward to 11.2 for some time. This is really a stupid bug to have in supposedly production ready software. Maybe I should add that in KDE knetworkmanager does not load by itself. I have to load it manually via console every reboot. I get this:

It puts the icon in the system tray, and annoyingly hides it, so it took me a while to evern realize it was there. When I point my mouse at it, it says "Networking Information Not Available". When I click it, it says Network Management Disabled. cnetworkmanager spews out a bunch of errors and finishes by saying it can't find any .service files. I configured the device via 'Network Devices' in YaST. Hardware info says it is using the iwl3945 kernel driver. Everything was fine in OpenSUSE 11.1 and 11.0.

I just finished putting openSUSE 11.4 on my Compaq Presario V5000. I have been trying for hours to find the answer of how to get my wireless card to work. I can't connect to my router wirelessly and the on/off button for the wireless mode does not light up when pressed.
As far as I can tell from what I have already tried, I have a broadcoamm wireless card. It is a bm4318. I have b43-fwcutter installed and I have tried updating my firmware through the terminal. I have also used 'sudo /usr/sbin/install_bcm43xx_firmware'. It appeared successful, but the laptop still cannot make a wireless connection.

When I'm at uni I use the wireless internet. This works perfectly well. Due to some issues with another program I ended up installing KDE4 in addition to gnome, which I usually use. In gnome the computer can easily find and log on to the wireless network. However when I start a KDE4 session I can't get the wireless to work. I don't really understand why this is happening. I though it would use the same settings. How do I make the KDE4 wireless network manager use the settings from the gnome wireless network manager?

i just installed Gosalia mad monkey on an old dell d520 latitude but cant get wireless working? i found how to set up my wireless connection butits asking for the default keyring password to unlock?i never set a password for this as it never askedi found this but i still dont understandit states" Typed in all the details, clicked Add and... �Enter password for default keyring to unlock�. Huh? I didn't set that... Tried the root password, tried the user password, none worked. The answer: Gosalia's team remastered Ubuntu with their password locking the keyring. Quite a funny situation. I recently moved into my room-mates house and her wireless was not secure as I was able to log on to it unsecured with my Fedora 12 Laptop. After Securing it with WPA all the windows computers had no problem getting back on to the now secure wireless. Using GNOME I went to SYSTEM then PREFERENCES and NETWORK CONNECTIONS and clicked on the wireless tab and configured wireless security tab and configured for WPA WPA2 Personal. No problems. But when I go to the gnome tool bar and click on the network and see our SSID it wants to use WEP 40bit and others methods but has no selection for WPA.

Just upgraded to the newest version of Ubuntu(unity), and my wireless isn't working. I have the 14e4:4315 Wireless Card so I followed this posts [URL].... And still have no wifi, when I click the icon in the menu bar it says under "Wireless Networks": "wireless is disabled by hardware switch", which ins't true because on my Vostro 1520, there is only one switch and it is in the on position. I've tried 3 versions of ubuntu and none of them work with wifi getting tired of it.

I am running OpenSUSE 11.3 i had OpenSUSE 11.3 installed before and everything worked fine. I eventually went back to Windows for a bit. I have a Wireless Button that glows Orange. When I went back to windows it remained orange everytime I turned on my mp or woke it up. When I press it, it goes blue and wireless works. It was really annoying but I ignored it, I could never find a solution. I reinstalled OpenSUSE today, to find out Wireless doesnt work at all. I press the button but it remains Orange. My wireless adapter is a: Atheros Communications Inc. AR9285 Wireless Network Adapter.
