I'm new to linux, When i try to watch videos on you tube, or anywhere, sometimes they don't work. Or they are real choppy. It certainly didn't do that when i was running windows, I know its not the internet speed.
View 4 RepliesI recently upgraded to Lucid 10.04 from Hardy 8.04, and since then I have no audio when watching You Tube videos in Firefox. I checked the sound preferences and I have sound in other applications, but not for You Tube. Oddly enough, I get sound on You Tube just fine using the Chrome browser, but it's not my preferred browser and I'd really like to get it working under Firefox. In another forum, someone suggested doing a "sudo apt-get install alsamixergui," but that didn't help.Is this some sort of Firefox bug? I googled the problem and others have reported it as such, but I cannot locate a fix. Anyone? Thanks in advance.

I have installed the restricted drivers, cleaned out all my recent history (cookies, etc) and restarted Firefox. Same result. Just a black screen. I went here: [URL] Where Adobe says I can test to see if flash is working and it said everything was installed successfully.
I've got an eeepc 1101ha and have installed the latest ubuntu, 10.10, but i can't watch any videos! Besides the original player, i have installed and tried to watch videos in VLC, SMPlayer and GNOME MPlayer but it has always some kind of error. In VLC I can hear the sound. On all others the file simply doesn't work.

Can any one explain me what I am doing wrong? I got Debian Lenny Stable with Xfce4 Desktop enviroment. I tried to install ubuntu restricted extras and also I tried to install the following codecs:

yesterday i upgraded my ubuntu to 10.04 LTS - the Lucid Lynx, and today i faced with a problem watching videos on the Internet. i already tried reinstalling the Adobe Flash Player i have in many ways... nothing helped and i actually think it isn't even related to the flash player... what can it be, and how can it be fixed?

They are working though with other resent distros like mint, mepis, community remix F12,1. Does anybody know what codecs are needed to enable their playback? I'm such a Linux newbie that I decided to give Mythbuntu a try. It was way to complicated for what I needed, and I'm sure that some more experienced people reading my first two sentences laughed to themselves at my naivety.
What I am trying to find is simple: browsing one computer's home folder from another computer, and playing the videos therein. If there's anything like Mythvideo that requires less than half of the skill requirements, I will telepathically send love to the person that informs me of it.

And now when I try to watch a video it tells me I need to update flashplayer. How do I update flashplayer in Lenny. I tried this and I don't have the program installed. View 14 Replies View Relatedim setting up an external hard drive for movies and music to connect to my ps3. the majority of the movies work just fine (they are in mpeg format). but over half of them are HD and take up somewhere in the range of 5 to 8 gigs. since ps3 only supports fat32 externally i can only have file sizes up to 4 gigs. so i need to split the oversized videos into two parts, but i dont know how to do that. ive tried using avidemux (which is a pretty cool program and actually taught me alot) but i cant seem to get a correct format that will work with the ps3. playstations website listed several formats the ps3 is supposed to recognize but none seamed to work for me (maybe i did it wrong though).

How can I make it work for all flash videos. I installed something else that searches for scripts but no matter how many I add it won't work for any sites flash videos but ...... I want to be able to play all flash videos. Also since the ps3 xmb is only good for watching flash videos for any site. What does it use? Something has to work with the IDM cell processors. I was wondering if we could run whatever the ps3 xmb uses to play flash on ydl?
