NOTE! To use previews you need to activate KDE Compability in compiz settings manager and under KDE Compability check "Support Plasma Thumbnails". (Alternatively you can use kwin as window manager instead of compiz. That will give you previews for minimized windows as well.)
How is this done? I have CompizConfig Settings Manager and I can't find kde anywhere.
I am running Ubuntu 10.04 (gnome)
I am trying to add a launcher for Guayadeque music player on my DockbarX, so I clicked on the icon of the running application (RMB) and chose the 'Create new activator' option. It does not work at all, creates no launcher. What am I doing wrong?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI've been using AWN for awhile but with the latest news surrounding dockbarx I'd like to return to gnome-panel. Unfortunately certain applets like time and session control look terrible when the panel is to the right (you have to read the text vertically). Does gnome-panel have any icon based appllets for time and session control? much like awn?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI installed DockBarX via the PPA on OMG Ubuntu. However, when following instructions, the only thing I can access is the preferences for the app, and not the app itself. What's up with that?
View 5 Replies View RelatedI edit a lot of stuff using GIMP, and tend to have about six windows open at once and I switch between them constantly, but I use dockbarx as my window list and it always groups windows making it harder to choose which window I need, So my question is, Is it possible to stop dockbarx from grouping windows? I looked through the settings in the preferences window, but I couldn't see a setting, I was thinking that I could achieve it by editing some sort of config file, except I don't know how.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI recently installed dockbarx throught the ppa ppa:dockbar-main/ppa
I have following locales set up:
LANG="en_US.UTF-8"
LANGUAGE="en_US:en"
LC_CTYPE="nl_BE.UTF-8"
LC_COLLATE="nl_BE.UTF-8"
LC_TIME="nl_BE.UTF-8"

Dockbarx default its menu's to dutch. However I like to have my operating system and software in English.
Is there any way to change the language used by dockbarx?

Edit: In all the threads about it, the selection Extras>Window Previews wasn't required. Selecting this under compiz-settings-manager worked for me.
I decided to try DockbarX in XFCE to see how it worked compared to Talika. It runs a bit smoother, and looks a lot better, the only problem is, I can't pin any open programs to my dock. If I click "pin application" and then close the window, the icon disappears as if I never pinned it. This has happened with every program I've tried. I've also tried running it as a stand-alone dock, and while I can pin programs that way, the dock itself likes to move around on its own. I am using the version from the WebUpd8 repos, which is version 0.46.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI thought for a second that maybe it was because i had added the unity ppa to the repository but i removed that and i still have no more dockbarx in the awn applets. i can add the applet but it won't appear in my AWN which is a shame because i was really liking the thumbnail window previews.
View 3 Replies View RelatedAfter installing latest version of dockbarx(0.41) today my cursor pointer automatically captures the links in browser and other icons on my desktop and performs automatic closing or opening window. I want to disable that features. How to do that?
using Ubuntu 10.10 32 bit
I just installed dockbarx and had an error. It says that the package is broken. When I start Ubuntu Software Center i get a message that i have to repair the package catalog. When i go to the terminal and execute the "apt-get -f install" i get this error:

So, Dockbarx leaves icon almost always, as I close any window, it disappear only if I move the cursor over it. Does anyone know how to fix this? Here's a link to demonstrate it, [URL]I have ubuntu 11.04

View 1 Replies View RelatedI tried out DockBarx on my previous Ubuntu computer and really liked it. I installed openSUSE not too long ago and I just decided it's about time to get it back! However, I'm having some trouble installing it. My initial attempt was to simply download the tarball of dockbarx from GNOME-Look, untar it and run setup.py. Unfortunately, it will not run for me..not as root, standard user, anything. I do have Python-Base installed, and my "cnf python" does return a successful response. My PATH has /python's location in it and everything.I then tried the .rpm but I need to install python-keybinder, pyxdg and dbus, but I cannot find any downloads or repo's with it. I could simply be missing it though. So, basically, I'm asking all of you who have successfully installed it on your openSUSE system to inform me on how you did it.
View 9 Replies View RelatedUbuntu 10.04 fresh install on eee 900. I had previously tried Cairo-Dock and AWN (successfully but I like that DockbarX is integrated into the panel) I installed Dockbarx like so:
Code:
sudo add-apt-repository ppa:dockbar-main/ppa
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install dockbarx
DockbarX was working.
Then I uninstalled Cairo and AWN with Synaptic.I got a notification of an error in the panel saying I had broken packages - see broken package filter to check it out.I can't find filters in Synaptic.Then I noticed DockbarX was empty (and I had pinned Firefox to it) So I tried uninstalling and reinstalling via terminal. No problems with that but when added it to the panel again it was still empty . I rebooted several times during these attempts.

But I have 0.39.3-1.
I am using Debian Jessie x64 with XFCE 4.10:
Code: Select allnickolay@nickolay-pc:~$ uname -a
Linux nickolay-pc 3.16.0-4-amd64 #1 SMP Debian 3.16.7-ckt9-2 (2015-04-13) x86_64 GNU/Linux
And am having a problem with dockbarx.
Whenever I try to launch it as a regular user, I get:
Code: Select allnickolay@nickolay-pc:~$ dockx
DockbarX 0.91.4
DockbarX init
DockbarX reload
Restarting DockManager Helpers failed.

I tried reinstalling the packages, but this did not work:
Code: Select all sudo apt-get purge dockbarx*
sudo apt-get install dockbarx dockbarx-themes-extra
sudo apt-get install xfce4-dockbarx-plugin
The system is upgraded to the latest available packages in the repositories.
I few weeks ago DockbarX upgraded tyo 0.43, and since then it hasn't worked at all; not just no window previews, but no icons for open applications - absolutely nothing. This also applies when there's an applet in a panel, not just AWN. I've been through the forums, tried going into Compiz Settings and unchecking, then rechecking KDE Compatibility etc, but it does nothing. Edot - installed awn-applet-dockbarx and gnome-dockbarx-applet from Synaptic but it doesn't help.

let me start with this I am running the 10.4 beta2 via wubi on an Acer 6930. the Main os is Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit. I installed 10.4 32 bit Wubi. my hardware it intel core 2 duo 2Ghz 4GB ddr Mobile Intel GM45 Express. I think that is the applicable hard ware infoNow for my problem: when I am using Compiz dsktop cube or desktop wall In't set the horizontal size to 4(for a perfect cube like I want) it works with any other value, from 1 to 128 just not 4 has any one else had this issue or know of a fix?

View 5 Replies View RelatedLike my title states, Compiz or any desktop effects aren't usable for me in 10.04. Never had any problem with any previous release. I'm using the open drivers with my ATI 1950 GT. At first I thought it was due to the fact that I have dual monitors now, but after disabling one and trying again it still acts up.
All I can explain it is it's as if my desktop were "lagging". My mouse cursor will jump and stay in a certain area and I can only move windows a short distance before my mouse pops off and the window jumps back. Minimizing windows also seems like it's a burden on my computer and will take a few seconds to do so.
This is the same setup I've had over various distributions and this is the first time I've experienced it. Anyone have any idea if it's fixable or if my computer is just finally getting too old? I can post the rest of my specs if they're needed.
I go under the System>Preferences> Menu but the is no compiz there. I tried to run it from terminal and when i did everything went away and could only see my desktop's background image for about 2-3 sec,then everything came back and i got this in the terminal
I've just did a new format to my linux partition,when the installation was finished i had the same theme that i had before the format. All the effects that i had activated with compiz still work(cube,wobbly windows etc.)
Should I turn ON compiz with 512 RAM on mine AAO or do in need more RAM?
