Ubuntu :: Ssh Permission Denied (publickey) Bind To Port 22 On 0.0.0.0 Failed: Address Already?

Jul 19, 2011

I'm trying to add a key public key for my dev box which is a vm running ubuntu natty, and I am unable to connect via ssh. I've tried rsa and dsa, as well as these commands:

exec ssh-agent bash
ssh-add ~/.ssh/id_rsa
ssh-add ~/.ssh/id_dsa

[Code]...

I think I've found the error by running sudo /usr/sbin/sshd -Dd, but I'm not sure how to fix it:

ebug1: sshd version OpenSSH_5.8p1 Debian-1ubuntu3
debug1: read PEM private key done: type RSA
debug1: Checking blacklist file /usr/share/ssh/blacklist.RSA-2048

General :: (13)Permission Denied: Make_sock: Could Not Bind To Address 0.0.0.0:80

Sep 14, 2010

I want to let a regular user (not just root) restart apache on my Ubuntu machine.I was using /etc/init.d/apache2 so I figured this is what I have to set permissions for. I set the owner group for this file a group to which that user also belongs. I set the chmod to 775 but it didn't work. I then even set it to 4775 thinking this would totally make it work but it still didn't.I'm obviously giving permissions to the wrong file.

The error says:

Quote:

httpd not running, trying to start (13)Permission denied: make_sock: could not bind to address 0.0.0.0:80 no listening sockets available, shutting down Unable to open logs But I didn't find httpd anywhere on my machine.

Ubuntu Servers :: SSH Error: Permission Denied (publickey)

Aug 10, 2010

I want to use SSH to connect to my desktop. I have used Ubuntu 10.10's encryption to encrypt my home folder (thus encrypting my .ssh folder). This means that the OpenSSH doesn't have access to my .ssh folder. When I try to log into SSH before logging in on the local machine I get the following error:

Code:

Permission denied (publickey).

If I log onto the machine, then use SSH it works fine. I want to use key based login, One way to get around this error would be use a different authorized_keys file, but I don't know of a way to do this. This is the contents of my sshd_config file:

Code:

# Package generated configuration file
# See the sshd_config(5) manpage for details
# What ports, IPs and protocols we listen for

Ubuntu :: SSH From OSX Using RSA Authentication Error Permission Denied (publickey, password)

Feb 20, 2011

I am trying to set up remote login via SSH from my Mac to an Ubuntu desktop. Here is the error i am getting:

Code: Permission denied (publickey, password). I'll give background:

- Both computers are on the same network
- I'm not using the default port 22
- I have successfully logged in using password authentication, so it isn't a firewall/iptables issue i don't think. I've already worked through those issues!
- I haven't set up any tcp wrappers on the server yet, so nothing is being denied
- I believe the server sshd_config file is setup correctly. I can post it if needed.

Debian :: SSH "permission Denied" Publickey Password

Sep 22, 2010

I am trying to ssh into one of my boxes and I keep getting a returned error "permission denied" (publickey, password).

I know that I am using the correct password. I have also set my router to forward the port to the correct IP. I am using the login option-l to specify the user that I want to log into the server as. On another box I removed some options from the ssh_config so that it would only use password authentication and THIS WORKED. On the new box, however, I do not see any option for removing the other authentication methods. Can I stop the ssh from the client from trying to use the other methods of authentication (I'm guessing this is what the publickey error is)?

By the way, both machines can ssh localhost.

Ubuntu :: Permission Denied - Failed Upgrade - Missed Some Backup Data - Can See It But Not Get It

May 15, 2010

I tried a 9.10 -> 10.04 upgrade that went fail. I can now get it to the login screen where it gives a hard freeze. Same with recovery. I can get to a command line, but not with networking so

So I finally said screw it, I'm going to doa fresh install. I downloaded and burned 10.04 at work. Not, it is giving me an installer error when I boot from it, but then it will load the desktop from the LiveCD.

All I really want to do is grab some data that I didn't get when I backed up by home directory, then I can go back and do a fresh install. I can even download a new 10.04 CD if I need to because the installation files are screwed up or something.

The problem is that some of the files have permissions on that that show as an 'X' on the icon and it won't let me copy them to my USB backup drive.

How can I copy the files marked with an 'X' that have this permission issue?

Ubuntu :: PHP Not Working - Warning: Unknown: Failed To Open Stream: Permission Denied

Mar 10, 2010

I just isntalled LAMP using tasksel and have a problem. Whenever I try to access a page (aside from phpmyadmin, that works well), I get this error... Code: Warning: Unknown: failed to open stream: Permission denied in Unknown on line 0 Fatal error: Unknown: Failed opening required '/var/www/index.php' (include_path='.:/usr/share/php:/usr/share/pear') in Unknown on line 0

I have restarted the computer, restarted apache, etc and still nothing. When I first installed, phpmyadmin was inaccessible, so I ran some command in terminal which apparently created a symlink between phpmyadmin in the user/share dir to the /var/www dir, and curious if this is the problem. I have no clue how to remove this symlink if this is the case, and have phpmyadmin working now due to install using sudo apt-get install phpmyadmin.

Fedora Networking :: Establishing A Vpn Connection Using Vpnc / Error Failed To Bind To 0.0.0.0:500: Address Already In Use?

Nov 24, 2010

I am having difficulties in establishing a vpn connection using vpnc (or NetworkManaager-vpnc).

As long as the openswan IPsec daemon is running, vpnc-helper quits with the error message

Quote:

Failed to bind to 0.0.0.0:500: Address already in use
[user@computer ...]# vpnc-helper --local--port 0

If I use NetworkManager-vpnc, then establishing the connection simply fails.
Using the --local-port 0 option does not change anything.

If I stop the ipsec service (service ipsec stop) then establishing the connectiong works, both with NetworkManager-vpnc and the console tool, but apparently the network traffic is not routed via the VPN - in my case this means that I cannot access hosts within the vpn and stuff.

Funny thing is - on my notebook from where I connect via WLAN, everything works fine. With Fedora 13 everything works fine, too.

Does anybody have an idea how to enforce that the vpn connection is actually used?

CentOS 5 :: PHP Not Working - Blank Page - Get This Warning: Unknown: Failed To Open Stream : Permission Denied In Unknown On Line 0?

May 5, 2010

I tried posting this before and I'm not sure what happened but I don't think it worked, so if it did please forgive the double post.am very very new to centOS and linux in general. I just want to setup a test web server that more closely mirrors our actual web server that is hosted by rackspace. I've installed centOS and tried to setup Apache, PHP and MySQL from a guide on the web using Yum. When I go to localhost in the web browser I'm able to see the default apache page. However when I create a php page it's just blank. When I look at the apache error logs I get this: PHP Warning: Unknown: failed to open stream: Permission denied in Unknown on line 0

I've been searching alot on the internet and I know the issue is permission related, but I don't know how to fix it. I've seen some forum posts that say you need to use the chmod 775 command on the /var/www/html folder.Currently when I do ls -l /var/www/html it returns

-rw------- 1 root root 19 May 5 13:16 index.php
-rw------- 1 root root 19 May 5 13:15 index.php~

I'm sure that this isn't correct but like I said I don't know much about how to set permissions or who the owner needs to be. I've done alot of searching and seen similar posts, but no one seems to explain it clearly.
