Ubuntu :: Some Email From Gmail Account Not Reaching Evolution?
Apr 8, 2010
I use evolution 2.26.1 on my jaunty machine. I have a couple of gmail accounts, and use pop3 to have that mail sent to evolution on my computer. All was fine until a few days ago. Then I noticed that I was no longer getting mail from my freecycle account sent to my machine. I went to the gmail web interface and saw that freecycle mail is still being sent to me. But gmail isn't passing it along to my evolution. The odd thing is, other mail from that gmail account *is* reaching evolution okay.
i am working on a neat little bash script, and i want the output to be mailed to my email account. So far i have tried installing sendmail then running: mail -s Test myemail@gmail.com But that hasn't worked; and i did check my spam folder. Am i missing something or is there a better technique all together?
Is it possible to send an email to abc123@gmail.com directly from Console? If it is possible, do I need to do some 'configuration stuff' to get it to work? How do I start it?
I am trying to figure out how if it is even possible to set up my centos server to email messages to gmail account I have tried mail -S Test account@gmail.com but every time it say in my log files that Connection refused by [127.0.0.1]
I'm running Ubuntu 10.10 Netbook edition on my Asus EEEPC and cannot add a new email account to Evolution. I'm using Evolution 2.30.3, and whenever I open "preferences" the window extends below the bottom of my screen. I'm unable to resize or move the window in order to select any of the options below the bottom.I'm sure there is a simple technique to fix this, but it is beyond this newb.
for like two weeks I have been trying to send email using evolution for some reason I always get the same Code: Could not connect to smtp.gmail.com: Input/output error
I had configured a gmail account in evolution and used it successfully until recently when after a restart evolution asks me again to configure an email (Evolution setup assistant wizard) again.I already have my email configured but something must be preventing evolution to find my email account. What can I do to recover all that?My .evolution/mail folder still has all the data for example (got there some hundreds MB still). and I also have there other folders: addressbook, calendar..etc
An email was sent to my imap account 2 weeks ago. I just discovered that it's still sitting there unopened but for some reason Evolution doesn't retrieve it.I know it's still there because I can ssh in and run pine -- and there it is, still marked "N" in the INBOX.Evolution has been retrieving all my other emails with no apparent problems. Is there any way that I can "force" it to get this item, and do you have any idea as to why one particular email is being excluded when Evolution does Send/Receive?
Im pretty sure this is trivial to config, but I havent had any luck searching on google. My situation is: I want to forward any emails sent to my domain to another account. So:
I have been trying to configure the mailcheck in gkrellm to check and notify for new mail on my gmail account. I have activated pop of course...
These are the pop info taken from gmail:
Quote:
Server for incoming mail (IMAP) - needs SSL: imap.gmail.com Use SSL: Yes Port: 993 Server outgoing mail (SMTP) - needs TLS: smtp.gmail.com (use verification) Use verifiering: Yes Use STARTTLS: Yes(some clients call this SSL) Port: 465 or 587
I have like 4 email addresses on one Ubuntu One account and I'd like to remove them all except my current email... I also have an old account I'd like to delete. I used the contact form but to no avail.
I use 'quoted' style for reply emails. I want to be able to intersperse my replies within a quoted reply i.e. if the email had three paragraphs, I'd like to be able to have my replies between each of the paragraphs. At the moment, I don't seem to be able to do anything other than delete from the quoted section - I try to simulate my requirements by cutting and then 'paste quotation', but this doesn't always work as sometimes Evolution adds too many levels of '> ' .
I had configured the evolution to send/recive email. After it had been configured, it could receive emails. Suddendly it can't fetch email anymore. In the inbox of evolution, there were about 200 emails. There are maybe 5K emails in the server, I guessed. I'm not sure whether it's the problem that there's one email in the server too big, so the evolution can not fetch it. The error of evolution is: error while fetching email. Evolution version: Evolution 2.28.0. OS version: Linux xxx2.6.32.9-70.fc12.i686.PAE #1 SMP Wed Mar 3 04:57:21 UTC 2010 i686 i686 i386 GNU/Linux I'm sure my network is fine, I use pop3 to receive email.
nslookup result: $ nslookup pop3.163.com Server:221.6.96.178 Address:221.6.96.178#53 Non-authoritative answer: pop3.163.comcanonical name = pop.163.com. pop.163.comcanonical name = pop3.163.idns.yeah.net. Name:pop3.163.idns.yeah.net Address: 123.125.50.29
I've spent ages trying to get evolution & Gmail to talk to each other. Whenever I press Send/receive it tries then I get 'Error while Scanning folders in "IMAP server imap.gmail.com" '. I've tried changing the ports etc, deleting the account from evolution and redoing it. I've looked thru various forums and walkthroughs. I've checked that the right password is stored in the keyring. I'm sure all my settings are right, but evolution can neither sync with my inbox nor send emails.
I have synced my google contacts and calendar with evolution, however. I use my Gmail on a variety of devices so I don't want to use POP and in any case SMTP isn't working either. I'm running ubuntu 10.04 on an acer 5738 thru a not particularly fast ADSL connection.
I'm am successfully adding my gmail account to both empathy and pidgin (it shows up in green that i'm 'available' on my computer). However, I am unable to send or receive any messages. On empathy it just says there was a network error - unknown, and pidgin say there is an xmpp message error code 404.
I've been trying for months to get IM working with my gmail account.
I have wiped Windows and am running 10.04 exclusively. 32 bit, when setting up evolution e mail account i dont see where to enter password....where is it? anyone have link with screenshots? i know i can use regular hotmail but want to know how to use default ubuntu programs.
I still can't find a spot for password. options are, login, set preferences and a remember password checkbox but nowhere to enter a password
I've seen a bunch of other posts on this topic but they haven't solved my problem. I just installed Ubuntu Netbook Remix 10.04. Love it so far. Except, I can't figure out how to setup my gmail account in Evolution so that I can see the emails on the server or download them locally. I had it working before both in 8.04 LTS and a flash drive install of UNR 9.10. I really can't figure out why it is so difficult this time.Gmail settings are/were already on IMAP - checked while logged in through browser. In Evolution, I've tried changing the account name, user name (for receiving mail), etc. and different combos of same settings. The receiving mail settings I'm using for IMAP authentication are password and save password. Security is set to SSL.Evolution tries to access the server but never asks for a password. Likely, because something is wrong with my settings. I just don't know what.
Has anyone gotten evolution to work with gmail imap? Mine says it is connecting but it never downloads any messages nor does it give any errors. I'd sure like to make it work.
I have several Gmail accounts. On one of my Ubuntu-running computers (Hardy) Evolution remembers the passwords. Which is a good thing, as I can't remember one of the passwords.
When I'm out and about with my netbook, I like to check my email. But I don't use Evolution on the netbook; I access the Gmail accounts via the web. And because I can't remember the password for one account, I can't check it.
Obviously, on my Hardy desktop, Evolution/Ubuntu remembers the password - so it must be stored on the computer, right? How do I get Ubuntu to tell me the password?
I'm using Ubuntu 9.10, I could setup gmail inbox in evolution.. but i'm constantly getting error for outbox.I'm getting the following error always ( i tried changing ssl to tsl, id name from 'id' to 'id@gmai.com'.. etc but none worked.
In general, sending to people with gmail accounts fails although it works for others. Here's the error message:Evolution ErrorError while Sending message.RCPT TO <someuser@gmail.com>failed:<someuser@gmail.com> No such user hereI have Evolution Sending Email set to Server Type: SMTP.
I use Evolution with my Ubuntu lucid lynx. My email server is optonline.net. I can't send to from my evolution to yahoo mail or gmail. If can send from optonline.net web mail.I am wondering whetherI have a wrong setting or is it something with evolution itself.
I have configured Evolution to use my Gmail account. I am able to read my Gmail, but I have not been able to send email. I have found instructions to do this from several sources, which include the Gmail website and Ubuntu help at HTML Code: [URL]. The instructions from all sources have been consistent:
Instructions for Sending(smtp) Mail from Gmail: 1. Server: smtp.gmail.com Note: Some ISPs block port 25, if you are having a problem sending mail, substitute smtp.gmail.com:587 for the server information above. 2. Server requires authentication: Checked 3. Security: TLS encryption 4. Authentication: Plain or Login 5. Username: johndoe@gmail.com
I have also tried using port 587 and 465 as alternates. When I try to send an email, there appears to be two stages: it successfully completes the first stage that refers to POP, but gets stuck on the second stage that refers to SMTP.
